I'm not sure how to explain this without pictures, and my damn camera's not with me right now. You know the photos on the instructions that tell you how to correctly close the roof? The two pictures with a tick above and one with an x below? If I try to do it as shown in the instructions (placing the roof over the flaps), I can never get the roof to sit flush, and it leaves a big seam under the windscreen. Well, most of the pics I've googled show the tumbler using the so-called incorrect way: slipping the front end of the roof panel under to two flaps. The so-called incorrect way seems to close up the roof panel much better than the correct way. Or did HT make a mistake with instructions? About the lubricant, I use Holts rubber lubricant for the rubber tires on my Masterpiece Transformers. It's used to lubricate car dashboards and the rubber linings that seal car doors, to prevent them from dry-rot. It should prevent toy tires from drying out as well. Others use Armor-all, but I can't seem to find this brand in my hardware stores. The pics shows it done in the so-called "incorrect way," with the windscreen tucked under the two flaps on the sides. The supposed correct way, placing the windscreen OVER the flaps, just doesn't work, leaving a huge gap.

Nice, Kicker! Did you get that Batman mask (the one the fig on the back left is holding) as an exclusive bonus from the Singapore convention exclusive? BTW, I just received my Tumbler. As awed as I am by the sheer size and detail of it, that damn roof hatch is driving me crazy! How the hell do you properly close it?! No matter how I massage and angle it, the damn thing won't close without a seam! Some pics and instructions would be a great help. Also, I'm placing this in my man cave, which happens to be air-conditioned. I'm worried about the tires drying out. Should I apply any lubricant on it just to be safe?

Awesome work, GGemini! Very good masking job; crisp and straight. I like how the updated VF-1J scheme integrates with the paint on the wings and back, unlike the original, where it's just a single patch of black and red on the chest.

I think I owned one of those bootlegs as a kid. Mine had a pencil included with the package.

Despite having built 3 Gundam kits, I know next to nothing about the different models other than the ones I built. What's the name of this one? Yeah, the one with the red-and-black wings and the giant sword? Is it the Aille Striker or something? I'd like to build me one of these if I can still find it.

Got it. I ain't taking any chances, given how rare this these damn Bandai V2 VF-25's are.

I'm starting to suspect the BRS I got might be a KO. The cannon in the pics on the box was weathered in metallic drybrushing on the edges, but the actual one wasn't. Hopefully this is just a "subject to change" thing, or just a manufacturing snafu. Guys, is it the same with yours? My bad. Just brought the fig out to the patio, and under direct sunlight, I noticed that the cannon DOES have weathering, but way more subtle than the pics on the back of the box. The silver weathering was almost invisible under indoor lighting.

Any chances of Nina Williams and Lili statues being made where the Christie and Asuka ones came from? Looking forward to those two; I use them a lot in Tekken 6.

Hahah, yeah, I've lost count of the times I've seen pics of Millenium Falcons and Enterprises all lighted up like Christmas trees in modelers' site. If they do go with the fiber optics and lights for the Unicorn, it'll probably be too much for a modeler of my mediocre skills. The only things I'm familiar with lighting up are cigarettes.

Wow, awesome looking design. Love the spear-like shape of it. Given the penchant of Japanese anime for ridiculous names, I suggest...Schlongzigger. Just kidding. How about Samael? It's the Hebrew name for the angel of death. Or Longinus, as in the spear of Longinus.

1. VF-0S - Technologically the oldest, but I love the more robust design, while still maintaining the classic look of the VF-1 that would be its successor. 2. VF-1J - What can I say? It's the single most iconic Valk in Macross history. Lost to the VF-0 only by a slight margin. 3. YF-21 - Love the melding of Zentran tech with human designs. 4. YF-19 - Along with the YF-21, VF-171 and VF-4G, its one of those designs that really stood out among the more traditional Valks in terms of transformation. 5. VF-2SS Gamlin - Couldn't care less about M7, but Gamlin's ride looks awesome in those dark colors

Oh, PG UNICORN...damn, I gotta learn to pay more attention when reading posts. Could have sworn I read PG AGE or something else, which led me to think more along the lines of LED chests and eyes like MG Exia. In that case, yeah, it's going to be one massive undertaking in both designing AND building the kit.

Better, much better. The no-transformations thing is great news.
-
Leader class movieverse TF's transform fine with built-in lighting, and even voice chips--albeit at the cost of screen-accurate proportions, but that's beside the point. That said, having to assemble your own transforming toy with said lights and wiring is a different story altogether. Even with Yamato's 1/60 V2 VF-1 DIY kits that have no lighting gimmicks, I've heard more than a few reports of customers screwing up the built--usually the shoulder hinges.

Great review, Veef. Just the right ratio of pics and description. You mentioned something about propping up the backpack with the GERWALK struts. I understand this is to relieve stress on the hinges. Is it necessary for Super Parts as well? I've got a VF-25F with Super Parts installed, and I wonder if I should do the same.

Not a fan of the design, so it's a definite pass. And even if I liked the design, the price is way too steep to even consider buying.

LOL! Well, at least you left DYRL and SDF out of this, the former of which happens to be my all-time favorite...although I only watched it last month for the first time. BTW, what's so bad about MacPlus, plot holes aside?
-
I just called the local hobby store this morning to pre-order it. Haven't watched TDKR yet so I don't know what accessories and gizmos she has, but the HT fig is pretty no-frills--handgun, extra hands for the bat-pod, and that's it. Her suit's flexible enough to enable her to crouch, so that's a definite plus. And her hair's rooted, too, instead of sculpted.

Truth be told, I'm not so crazy about MF, probably because of the mediocre plot (May'n's Sheryl was awesome, though). While the VF-25F is a must-have, I just don't feel that same desperate urge to own any of the others the same way I want a VT-1 or VF-2SS. Sure, I'd happily pre-order the VF-25G if my hobby store brings it in, but it's just not worth moving heaven and earth to get, stalking online stores and all that sh!t. If Yamato decides not to make any, so be it. So long as they eventually get around to reissuing that VT-1 with non-cracking hinges and making a 1/60 PT toy of the VF-2SS.

One of the most important lessons we learn as Macross collectors...
-
Truth is, I'm kind of undecided. While it'd make a great addition to my Macross collection, I keep hearing just how fragile and these Bandai figs are, and how the joints inevitably loosen in time. Seems like such a waste to buy something that might turn into an unstrung puppet in a matter of years, or even months if you're not careful. I just wonder if I should wait a few years (or a decade) for Yamato to eventually make these. As it is, I've already got Alto's VF-25F and his Super Parts, and I'm pretty happy with just him. But I do like the -25G. Decisions, decisions....
-
Is the VF-25G going to be as hard to find as the VF-25S?
-
Work in progress? What did you do with it?
-
Believe me, I'd love to do just that. Problem is, shipping from the US to Malaysia is sure to be brutal, even for small items like those hinges. The same thing's prevented me from getting those awesome 1/60 scale fig sets and option parts from EXO, and that Thunder Hummer (Hammer?) set. Worse still, I can't spare a single cent right now. HT's 1/6 scale Tumbler's already been released, and I've better have the cash ready for my pre-order. That's why I was hoping for a pre-order for that VT-1, so I can order it in advance and buy it much later.

They did TF's the last time, and it got some collectors all riled up. Didn't watch it myself, but shows like these tend to dramatize the extent of the collector's addiction and generalize about collectors as a whole. @ Kicker: Love the bat-pod and tron bike, BTW. Would have bought one myself, except I'm not a fan of Tron. BTW, I just pre-ordered TDKR Catwoman--about 8 USD cheaper than Bane. The goggles are supposedly removable, but the LED lights are understandably non-functional. The only extras are a handgun and extra hands for riding the Bat-pod. The rooted hair looks nice. I also noticed that she can actually crouch, thanks to the more flexible fabric of her suit. Battle Suit version Jill couldn't possibly do that...at least, I'm too afraid to try posing her that way for fear of ripping or stretching the suit.
