jvmacross replied to jvmacross's topic in Collectors
I can relate...sometimes I see something on YJA that I have not seen in a while and think that I may be missing it...only to then find it within my pic archive! LOL Although I still end up with duplicates sometimes! -
I like these "Life imitates Art" pics...awesome work sh9000!

As previously mentioned, here is the SDFM Storyboards book that comes included with the Deluxe SDFM Bluray set released a few years ago.... The Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Storyboards - Collection of storyboards from a select number of SDFM episodes...the book was a bonus included with the recently released Deluxe SDFM Bluray Set

here you go....will post them all in this new topic on the Collector's forum.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/48119-macross -magazine-for-anime-and-hobby-fan-ariiimai-booklets/

I will collect the entire run of the ARII/IMAI - Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan Macross specific booklets here. The numbered volumes span 1-8, however, there is one early sneak peak volume that I will include as well. Starting with Vol. 5, the booklets also begin to cover the Orguss TV show and the various ARII/IMAI kit offerings. Volume 8 is the final issue and it covers DYRL and some of the special re-boxed kits for that line. I will also include the ARII/IMAI promo posters from the SDFM era at the end and any other freebies and promo items from IMAI/ARII. For the most part, each volume contains lineart for the mecha, background story for the show, dioramas built with the ARII/IMAI Macross line of kits, customs, how-to's, and even photos of special contest kit builds and displays. Enjoy! Macross - Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan Vol. 0 The booklet announces the October release of the TV show.....like what you see? ARII/IMAI has Macross kits for you to buy! As Seen on TV!!! ...And with that, I would assume hobbyists and anime fans back in 1982 would have been plenty intrigued and excited to see what Macross was all about.....I know I would have been! The remaining 8 volumes of the Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan would be of the same size and would be about 20 or so pages long....all filled with awesome art, model kits, and info on all of your favorite Macross mecha and characters..... Macross - Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan Vol. 1 This very first numbered volume in ARII/IMAI's Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan Macross series! SDF Macross coming to a TV station near you! Macross - Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fan Vol. 2

I assume you are referring to the This is Animation "Red" and "Blue" books....if so, then there is no other dedicated Macross book that comes to mind that has been published for purchase at a bookstore. The closest thing you will find are extremely rare doujin collections, the original scripts, or you would need to purchase the SDFM deluxe BD box set that was released recently. The deluxe box set includes a very nice "Storyboards" book with several episode storyboards printed within its pages. I will post up some pics so you can see what I am referring to later. It is a shame that Shogakukan or some other publisher never released such a book for SDFM. Incidentally, they did release one for the DYRL film....not sure if you are aware of it... ,

They are worth picking up if you can find them!

What did you get for your eye?

Forget the "Fu" and invest in some of these!....
-
But seriously....looks better in the video with the lighting in action!

I saw one go for way less than MSRP on eBay recently.....the low price bar has been set! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Macross-VF-1J-Fighter-Valkyrie-Max-amp-Miriya-Vehicle-Giftset-1-of-800-Limited-/383495645453?nma=true&si=bCv4YWR%2FjK1lnHCmu1iyhRiGBOc%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Yes, Takatoku seemed to not have been particularly concerned about such errors..lol. Not sure if you had also seen the Takatoku promo poster that features what is apparently a prototype of their 1/3000 SDF-1 without any of the production release's "shooting" gimmicks....additionally, Kawamori's "wooden" VF-1 prototype is clearly featured on this same poster....with a "handless" gerwalk shot! And a prototype of the Destroid Monster that was to be included in their "Macross Collection Series" was apparently not ready in time for this promotional poster... ny Here is the same "gimmickless" prototype SDF-1 used in the Takatoku Toys SDF-1 promotional toy poster.... I may as well repost this here.....Takatoku display at 7:42!

Macross Stationery, Pencil Cases....and Beyond!!!
jvmacross replied to jvmacross's topic in Collectors
You're welcome! Actually, I believe the art was "borrowed" from the Toshimitsu Suzuki painting used for the Takatoku SDF-1 toy releases and also used in various children's books and other media... -
Sure....there are actually 2 more in this set and one "sneak peek" issue...a sort of Vol 0.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/29133-macross-books/?do=findComment&comment=989967 I'll go through the archives and see if I can find them....been wanting to do that for a while with these booklets anyway

The Shin to me makes sense. However, after the 1/72 VF-1's were released, I see no reason to buy any more Macross-themed F-14's. Looks nice, though IMO it would look better without the "chest" stripes.

Nailed it once again! I bet you didn't even have to spend any time popping parts back into place either!
