  1. Takatoku Macross Vending Machine DX Another odd entry in Takatoku's Macross Toy lineup. A part of their keshi gomu collection, this "vending machine" contains various "eraser" toys inside tiny plastic capsules and some bagged larger ones. There was a large variety of keshi figurines being sold during the SDFM era with the major players including Takatoku, Ohsato, Seika Note and several "unlicensed" players. The Takatoku Keshi figurines are very detailed from the smallest to the largest. I hope to make a comparison between them at some point. Finally, there are a few colors of the "vending machine" that were released. For those interested in collecting "variants", I have seen blue and yellow variants. Additionally, the color variation of the included eraser toys are randomly packed.
  2. Takatoku 1/320 Macross 4-Kit Collection Sets One of the more bizzare releases from Takatoku's Macross line are the 3 sets that made up their 4-pack 1/320 scale kits. Three kits were released and each set consists of 4 diminuative kits. Despite the small scale, they are surprisingly pretty detailed. They probably would make nice game board pieces. It has been a while, but I also believe that the molds used for these kits may possibly be the same used to produce another odd entry in the Takatoku Macross Toy lineup...their Keshi Gomu figurines. Set No. 1: VF-1J Battroid Hikaru-Type, Destroid Spartan, VF-1J Gerwalk Hikaru-Type, and Regult Set No. 2: GBP-1J Hikaru-Type, VF-1J Valkyrie Hikaru-Type, Destroid Tomahawk, Glaug Set No. 3: VF-1A Battroid Soldier-Type, Destroid Defender, Destroid Phalanx, Nousjadeul-Ger
  3. Added gengas/rough gengas from another Macross video game...Digital Mission VF-X 2 I believe..... really liking gengas these days...especially the ones with the cel shadings in colors...
  4. Never heard of anyone citing visual or engineering inferiority to "modern" versions as a qualifying factor for being considered "Old School"....they are "Old" toys made with "Old" engineering and design processes by default not by choice........should expense/market value/rarity also be considered to define "Old School" status?...
  5. Since the thread is intended for Macross-only toys, the implication for "old school" means mainly toys from the SDFM/DYRL era....I personally would also include M7/M+ era toys but there were hardly that many released... Macross toys started being released in 1982 and kept coming out through 1985....you can then count the Robotech Toys and that pushes things through 1986 or so....a few releases, like Bandai's 1990 VF-1S reboot.....then there is a dry spell until around the time M7 debuts and around 7 or so actual transforming toys (special editions included) get released with a handful of carded "figurines"....IMO that ends the "old school" era

  7. Lots of current shipping discussion in this thread.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/48060-japan-post-suspension-of-international-mail/page/9/#comments ...perhaps post your inquiry there... I have had items shipped recently using DHL, but nothing like a 1/60 DX's size/weight
  8. Same price, Same seller....didn't sell on February 27, 2020.... Thinking about it?

  11. Nonesense! It's just deploying one of these maneuvers.....
  12. My guess is that ARII and IMAI had received tons of lineart for all the mecha in the show including 5 distinct VF-1 types: VF-1A, VF-1D, VF-1J, and VF-1S...and one with no designation...so they named it the VF-1C. It was in their best interest to have as many variants to sell as Valkyrie kits. However, BW or whoever said "No, that thing you are calling a VF-1C is actually just something Kawamori was tinkering with and we decided to go with the VF-1D as the final head to represent the "trainer" valk". ARII perhaps had already created a mold for the "VF-1C" soon after getting a hold of the lineart. Since they were not given the go ahead to make a VF-1C variant, they sneaked it onto the gerwalk kit anyway without making a big fuss about it. It's awesome how new info like this can still be "discovered" after all these years.
  13. OK, of all places to think of finding this VF-1 head variant....The Macross Healthy Wings Orchestra Program! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/29133-macross-books/?do=findComment&comment=1369628 Thanks to @Shawn for reminding me! Note the rough sketches seem to suggest the head rotates between both "lenses"...has there ever been another VF that has a head like this that made it into production?

    Hi-Metal R

Arcadia currently seem to have a lock on "DX" scaled M0 VFs....so I can see an "HMR" scale being done by Bandai...as part of the HMR line, who knows? As for MF VFs....it all depends if you think re-releases of their DX line are possible...otherwise, "HMR" versions would be instabuys for me! Hard to say from this pic...but it looks like the M0 VF shown is not "DX" sized....as for the MF display...hard to tell...it also looks like 2 of them on display.... Did anyone who was at this event ever confirm what "size" these VFs were? Or has anyone run into other pics of this display?
  15. So this is the issue of Figure Oh that mentions the Paro Orguss Orgroid..... ....and the mention about the Paro from Orguss - オーガス -at the bottom of the text that was to be released... ....they probably should have also added a pic of it since they apparently (p.43) had access to it via the Takatoku Toys Hobby and Toy booklet Vol 2...
  16. No, it never was released. I am surprised though. It looks like a full prototype was made....guessing the molds for it never got done before TT went BK...guessing Mark probably would have been involved with that since they released the Macross Paros via Selects Convertors line. As far as I know, there was no Paro Orgroid in that line either. So it's basically a toy lost forever....with the proto stored in some Japanese collector's toy dungeon! *Sidenote.....Looking through my magazines...I think this toy received a mention in the Figure Oh issue covering the release of Bandai's DX VF-1J....I'll post a pick of the small blurb about it if I am recollecting it correctly
  17. Takatoku Toys Paro Mecha - Parody Animation Mechanics - Battroid Valkyries - Set of all 4 VF-1J Hikaru, VF-1S Roy, VF-1J Max, and VF-1J Milia - each has a two step transformation from Battroid to Fighter and back...no Gerwalk mode....in fighter mode, it has a pull-back action that allows the tiny valk to "dash" across your desk on small rubber wheels! These Paro (Parody Animation Mechanics) Valkyries were among the last toys released by Takatoku before going out of business. They were produced along with the Hi-Compact Models. Unfortunately, the HCM did not get a chance to be released under the Takatoku brand and instead was picked up by Bandai and released after Takatoku went BK. Another interesting factoid regarding these "Paro" toys is that Takatoku had developed a "Paro" type Orguss Orgroid, but that toy just dissapeared after Takatoku folded.
  18. Macross + Cute = Paro Valks!
  19. Relics of the past. I was afraid to play one, but apparently they still worked...at least the one I tried. Good thing I have it all on CD, which I guess I should convert to digital.....someday.
