NP! Generally, the problem with most listings on eBay....in this case referring to Macross collectibles....the prices will often include a markup from most resellers and/or oft maligned "scalpers"....which will not give you a good indication on actual market price....as a buyer you will get an inflated price..the "eBay price" and as a seller, you may end up not being able to sell your item easily as it will most likely be way more than what your customers could buy for themselves directly from a Japanese source...like YJA, Mandarake, other Japanese online sites...or even MWers!

Here is a recent sale on YJA for a complete VF-1J Mass Production to give you an idea of what a box and accessories can potentially add or remove to the value of these collectibles...I would say the more desirable, rare, or HTF the item is, the more likely a condition of MIB seems to affect the upward market price of said item... Yamato 1/60 VF-1J Mass Production - MIB, unused - 40,600 JPY https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f398905938 Compared to the one that just sold loose.... Yamato 1/60 Super VF-1J Max-type - with gun, DYRL-type articulated hands, no other confirmed accessories - 9,005 JPY https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s731702492 Hope this helps when trying to determine fair pricing as both a seller and a buyer. Happy Collecting!

Bottomline...your "review" basically shows that the only change was copying Bandai's extra articulation....it'll be another floppy mess...thanks for confirming that even though I wasn't holding much hope

Thanks for the review. Sadly, it would seem that this release has the same fitment between parts issues that plagued the VF-1S. Unless you did not transform it correctly? The biggest issues for me, besides the short time it took to become a floppy mess, was the initial fit between the legs/intakes and the main body.... As seen in your video... It is a problem in fighter mode...but a bigger problem in "gerwalk" mode... Additionally, I see they have done nothing to improve the fit between the cockpit part and the main body either...it was/is a problem with the VF-1S.... How about the ground clearance? Does the gunpod still drag or did they add some height to the landing gear? My VF-1S was just as "solid" in the beginning...but soon the lower legs really got loose and wobbly to the point it could not keep a standing pose without major intervention...so I am concerned that will be the same with this "new" VF-1J. Based on this initial review, it would appear KC tossed all of their "upgrade" budget into remolding the cockpit light gimmick access switch and the extra "DX" thigh mobility. Personally, I would have preferred they invested into just making everything tighter and making it hold in place better with better connection points, before adding additional articulation...but we shall see. I also have to say, for some reason, perhaps the retooling of the intake area for the DX-style thigh articulation...the intakes look larger and way more "blocky" than they did in the previous VF-1S release...but perhaps it is just the camera angles you are using. Anyway, it definitely still looks like it will make for a great "looking" VF-1 display piece....

Bandai did a mail-in marketing promotion where they shipped "red" snap in heat shields to customers who purchased the 1/55 Hi-Metal VF-1S Hikaru Strike Valkyrie, which at release only included a screw-in black canopy/heat shield. I supposed in the end, the animation error "stuck" and now it is canon. Here is a recent auction with the "promo" red heat shield display... https://www.ebay.com/itm/MACROSS-ROBOTECH-DISPLAY-BANDAI-1980-039-S-PERFECT-DETAILED-S-HEAVY-VERSION-RARE-/264617756173?hash=item3d9c72860d%3Ag%3Ap7EAAOSwbY5eM8ul&nma=true&si=bCv4YWR%2FjK1lnHCmu1iyhRiGBOc%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ...the red heat shields (10 or so) are missing from the display sold in the auction, but they are the same ones used in the Bandai Hi-Metal 1/55 VF-1A sold in 1985 shown in this pic....once you had it, you could make your Hikaru Strike -1S look just like it did in the movie....every other cel sequence!..lol

You seemed to allude/believe that there was a reason beyond animation errors regarding the need for Hikaru's heat shield on his Strike -1S to be red..... The final and only scenes in DYRL involving Hikaru's Strike -1S involved no other VF-1...thus there was no reason to "differentiate the hero".....it was purely an animation error that was apparently not worth correcting prior to theatrical release... Ironically, this was tied into a Bandai marketing stunt when the Bandai Strike VF-1S was released...I am sure you know what I am referring to.... Oh and to add fuel to the fire regarding the "color morphing" on VF-1's....the early "sneak peak" of DYRL featured a scene of the Roy Strike -1S with no yellow chest stripe...that eventually was "color" corrected before the same exact scene appeared on the actual theatrical release...so I suppose maybe they were on a time crunch by the time they animated the "final battle" with Hikaru's Strike -1S....
-
Hikaru's VF-1S was the only "hero" valk prominently shown in the last few minutes of the film...it was also the only time his VF-1S was animated on-screen....not sure what other VF-1 would it need to be differentiated from during this sequence...it wasn't the only time animation errors occurred during the film and it happened several times during the TV show also...practically every episode The switching heat shield colors happen a few times in the final battle sequence, with it going from black to red....here is one example...
-
Guessing the black heat shields are for squadron leaders and Hikaru drawn with a red shield for his -1S was an animation error

I think the old Takani illustration is the baseline for what the colors should be.... I agree, the blue is too dark on the Yamato/Arcadia/HMR releases.....the closest has been on the old Takatoku set. As for the cockpit seat...I have always thought green was for the TV versions of the VF-1 and tan was for the DYRL VF-1's
