Unless you plan on giving away your collection at some point or having them all burned with you in a funeral pyre, it only matters if you want to get the most from any potential future sale. If you have the space, makes sense to save them and keep them in as good condition as possible. Heck, there are even variations on the market price of toys/collectibles depending of the condition of the box alone!

LOL...it does sort of look like it...paint your IMAI GU-11 red!

Yamato's SDF-1 as prophesized in 1984's The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? -
OK, yes, that is one of them, I think there was also a blue boxed version, but both had the prominent Chinese writing on the boxes. They were once ubiquitous on eBay, but either the supply or interest in old school Macross toys has all but vanished. I do not collect KO Macross toys for the most part, but that always was one of the more interesting ones.

LOL...I was going to add that as a "Special Note", but was trying to find an actual pic of it first for reference. I think you even asked me about it once. Do you have a link to a pic? Anyway, the "White" VF-1J Armored Valkyrie is not a Takatoku Toys release so I would not consider it as part of the official Takatoku Macross line of toys. Sort of like the Macross II - Space Fight LCD game, a Takatoku that lost it's "brand" but still found a way into the wild.

Takatoku Toys 1/76 Armored Valkyrie Series Another member of the Takatoku Toys Macross Collection that hardly gets any attention is the 1/76 Armored Valkyrie set. Takatoku Toys released only 2 in this series, a VF-1J Hikaru-Type and a VF-1J Max-Type. The figure is pretty basic, it is more or less about the size of the Large Vinyl toys released by Takatoku, except this set adds "slip-on" GBP armor. If I had to summerize this figure, I would say it was the toy made for the kids who were never going to be able to get their parents to buy them the 1/55 GBP combo set! And those kids were still luckier than the ones who got nothing...or a GBP from Ohsato! Takatoku Toys 1/76 Armored Valkyrie Series - VF-1J Hikaru-Type Other than the Armor...the one cool gimmick that this toy has is the ability to "replicate" the cockpit seat access as seen on the TV show....as far as I can recall, this particular gimmick remained unique to this toy for years until Yamato did it for their V2 1/60 VF-1J via the form of "option parts"... Takatoku Toys 1/76 Armored Valkyrie Series - VF-1J Max-Type The Max-Type Armor set ditches the "dark blue" standard colored GBP included with the Hikaru-Type set with a more olive-grey colored armor.....again.....another "first" in a GBP toy from Takatoku that remained unique until Yamato released "non-canon" colored GBP sets for their 1/48 line of GBP armors decades later......

Nice! I like the cards and figures from the ARII 1/72 VF-1 sets more so than the battroid/gerwalk figures...

Takatoku Toys 1/320 Macross 4-Kit Collection Sets

LOL...IMAI did release a "kit" version that was more or less built right out of the box.... ...or upgrade to the deluxe Arcadia version?

These go for $25 plus shipping on Shapeways..... https://www.shapeways.com/product/DV3KRQCTN/kanzen-henkei-1-60-scale-fighter-variable-hinge?optionId=3675956&li=shops The Shapeways versions are a great substitute in the absence of the real thing. Keep in mind that the shapeways will not match the color of the Yamato VF-1 or VT-T/VF-1D that the hinges are looking to fix. There is definitely value to using original parts to fix a broken toy, especially for collectors who may not have the needed skills, time or patience to try and color-match the Shapeways parts. I hope you have received offers in excess of $25 for each pair. Your post was like tossing bloody chum into shark infested waters! But know this.....there are way more hungrier sharks on ebay!

Much love for the Conversion Set from me! If Bandai never comes through on the Phalanx and the Tomahawk....we can use these as stand-ins. As for the Super VF-1A, I am pretty sure that Takatoku would not have stopped with the "Strike" VF-1S....I think the only reason we did not get more was because of who took over the license. Bandai never really did much with their Macross license until just recently. Had Takatoku survived, they would have definitely milked their Macross license! Oh and Bandai did eventually release Super VF-1A Hikaru and Max "Origin of Valkyrie" combo sets...25 years after acquiring the Macross license... BTW...not to derail the subject....I usually do not get the official DVD/BD releases of the various Macross shows, as a result, I have recently become privy to one particular booklet found in the 25th Anniversary release of the SDFM TV series on DVD....in that set, a fantastic book full of awesome art and other information reveals this tidbit regarding the Tomahawk..... Essentially, it states that the original Takani painting shows a Tomahawk with a definite green hue to it, however, animators erroneously painted the Tomahawk the "tanish" color we are all familiar with. As a result, we all got the "tan" Tomahawk instead! Well, except for this "old school" bugger!.....The Takatoku Toys Small Vinyl Tomahawk! .....and years later, the homage from Yamato.....

Takatoku Toys Macross SDF-1 Lasergun........Pew!Pew! all day day long.... (yes, it's battery operated!) Not sure why this toy got green-lighted by Takatoku Toys for the Macross toyline, but I am thinking it was because it was a cheap toy and they managed to also slap some TV show specific stickers on the same gun for a number of other shows...I know I have seen an exact version of this "lasergun" packaged in an Orguss box with Orguss stickers and perhaps a different color for the plastic. Odd piece for sure but no Takatoku Macross Toy Collection would be complete without it!

How much would it cost to get you to customize one...if you were to accept the job.

When did Bandai announce this? Looks fantastic! And yes, just the right amount of "old school" still left in it... How much?

Some pics from this event found going over the magazine archives.... The "South Ataria" mountain display...the same one seen in the video above in the Takatoku Toys display area. Clearer shots of the promo posters shown in the video. The hunt intensifies! And also on the 7ft+ VF-1J! And some unrelated pics to the 1983 Tokyo Toy Show..... Takatoku Toys display from a trade show....clearly pushing the "customization" kit aspect for the 1/55.... And a toy update alerting the upcoming Takatoku "Egg Valkyrie" for 2000 JPY! Takatoku went BK and never released it. However, this went on to become the first release in Bandai's Hi-Compact Model Collection after acquiring the molds. Was this another Matsushiro manufactured product for Takatoku?

One good thing that this "shelter in place" situation has done is given me extra time to actually start going over my books, magazines and other information with Google Translate. It has gotten much better over the years, especially with the smaller descriptive text that sometimes accompanies pictures. For example, the following bit of information was news to me.....it is from the same Takatoku Toys Hobby and Toy booklet Vol 2 mentioned above.... Appatently, Takatoku had a stand-alone Fast Pack set in the works...just like their released stand-alone Armored Parts set....it was going to be sold for around 1,500 JPY! Too bad it never got a chance for release... Wonder how far they got around to creating the packaging?

Seems like 90% of what is currently listed has been relisted for years and some stuff dissapears only to resurface again...like that OP scene

Bandai 1/55 Hi-Metal Strike VF-1S Promotional Store Display Of particular note on this promotional store display is the use of a "sticker-less" Takatoku branded VF-1S and the prototype/pre-production Strike Cannon. This same "Takatoku-branded" valkyrie is most likely also used in the diorama that was photographed for the back of the "boxart" images...it also would appear that Takatoku FP's are used in the photo below...as they have the same colors of the Takatoku Super VF-1S release, as opposed to the Darker olive green color of the Bandai production release.... According to the second volume of the Takatoku Toys Hobby and Toy booklet, Takatoku Toys had received the lineart for the new "Super" VF-1S that was to be the new hero valk for the upcoming Macross movie. Takatoku had apparently started working on it, unfortunately, they went BK before the movie was released. The BK occured in May of 1984, just months before the theatrical premier of DYRL. Bandai eventually acquired the molds for Takatoku's 1/55 line from Matsushiro, who had been manufacturing the 1/55 for Takatoku. Eventually, Bandai was able to release a DYRL tie-in product in the form of a still Takatoku-branded 1/55 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie in October 1984....several months after the DYRL film had been released. The first issues of the 1/55 Strike VF-1S's released by Bandai all had a black sticker placed over the Takatoku logo...like seen here.... In later releases, Bandai adjusts the mold to replace the Takatoku logo with a Bandai logo...as seen here... I am not sure how many releases Bandai's Hi-Metal 1/55 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie enjoyed, but clearly they were rushing to try to get something out as soon as possible. It would be interesting to know how far Takatoku got in terms of any releases specific for DYRL. Were the Strike Cannon parts and the DYRL painted VF-1S left over prototypes from Takatoku or completely developed by Bandai? I guess that would depend how early Takatoku received the lineart for it and how quickly they would have started working on DYRL products. The only other toys that I know were completely developed under Takatoku, but ultimately released by different companies, were the Hi-Compact VF-1 (Bandai) and the Henkei Super VF-1S (Mark). I believe that last Takatoku Macross toys released by Takatoku were the Paro Mecha Valkyries. "T.T" Takatoku Toys logo.... Solid Strike Cannon prototype....Takatoku Super Fast Packs Takatoku 1/55 Strike Valkyrie....On Sale Now!

I'm surprised the usual resellers on ebay have not bought them and split them up. Lots of good individual pieces in that 14 piece set.
