Need some helpful advice for making a 1/60 hangar diorama
jvmacross replied to HomieHasegawa's topic in The Workshop!
I want to say maybe 16 minimum to fit the fighters shown in the pic in that particular configuration. That amount only covers the back and side walls of the hangar 2 chainbases high with no ceiling. One chainbase is too short to look good using 1/60 or larger VF's...especially if you want to go with a battroid configuration. I have not tried it yet, but I am guessing one chainbase may be adequate for the HMR scale for fighter mode only. The nice thing about the chainbase is that it looks good "plain" due to the amount of 3D surface detail...however, they can be so much better with added details like lights, paint and decals. Look around the web for pics of some collectors' chainbase creations that have gone all-out with their hangar displays. There is also the H-Hanger from Wave, but I think it looks a little too plain without modifications like paint and decals. -

This question comes up every few years....last time was here... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/44712-hanger-diorama/?tab=comments#comment-1338784 Anyway, there wasn't much in terms of 1/60 before and the same goes now, in terms of ready made accessories and figurines. What has changed is the proliferation of 3D printing and folks offering there stuff at places like Shapeways. But they would require some painting and hobby skills. I can tell you that there is a fair amount of accessories and figures at 1/72 scale and for the most part several scale very well with the 1/60-ish Yamato, Arcadia and Bandai VF's and Mechs. Try doing a search on eBay and see what is available at 1/72 scale from the vendors mentioned in the link above. Good Luck! -

Been going through my storage now that I have the time and have uncovered some stuff I haven't handled in decades....found some G1 Transformers recently and now I found my stash of first issue GI Joes from the early 80's.....anyone here collect these? Several had the busted O-ring issue, but replacing the O-ring was a fairly simple process, now they feel and hold their poses as good as new! I collect only Macross these days so I probably will let these go in the For Sale thread soon. Anyway, here is what I was able to find so far.... Duke Kaboom!- 1187 replies

yeah....the VF-1J has been behind the same frame for over a decade. I literally "disturbed" it for the first time since last week. So far so good I suppose.

I also have a smaller version of the original Banpresto B1 game poster in the form of a smaller desk standee.... And not sure if you have seen these from the Fabtek version.... ...and a similar one for the original Banpresto arcade game....

This is really awesome....I may buy one of those t-shirts Now you need to do one using the original Banpresto artwork....

Always enjoy dioramas especially when they capture a particular scene or piece of art like the IMAI boxart. -
@Fortress_Maximus, I actually just reused the same glass frame the cel was housed in for years. As far as framing goes, I have never taken any of my cels to get "professionally" framed. I think, at least in my part of the country, most shops are reopening or have been open with "social distancing" procedures in place for over a week now.

Agreed. It is sad to think how much of that priceless art is either lost forever or locked away in collections never to see the light of day again...

@Fortress_Maximus Here you go! Haven't thumbed through this book for years...at least a decade for sure! I had forgotten all about it. Anyway, it has plenty of genga for DYRL? some in color but most in B/W.....so in answer to your question.....yes a DYRL? Genga book has been out for decades...lol Super Dimension Fortress Macross Haruhiko Mikimoto Genga
-
Thanks for confirming, I thought I had remembered that book containing a fair amount of cel gengas. Still need to find my copy.
-
Sadly, I do not recall if such a book exists. There have been several genga printed in various books though. I have not looked at one of my older DYRL books for a long time and I want to say it may have a good amount of genga. I will need to find it in my book archives and see if perhaps it has a good selection of what you are looking for. BTW...this is the book I am referring to....

First time I ever printed a screen capture for a cel sequence.....crappy inkjet printer, but I think it's looks fair enough....I have always wanted to get a printout of the background for this cel sequence because the background actually is filmed "clean" before the cel images appear.....so no need to clean up or photoshop away the cel images.....anyways here it is....the cel is from SDFM Episode 6 "DAEDELUS ATTACK"... Hikaru narrowly escapes becoming a casualty of friendly fire! BEFORE...... AFTER..........
