  1. Massive bench updates : 1/72 Academy Blackbird got Mr Surfacer 1500 Black today, looks fantastic. 1/144 Academy B1B Lancer is built and ready for priming, Construction continues on the 1/35 Tamiya M2A2 Bradley. Endless sanding of seams and priming engineering section of 1/1000 TOS Enterprise continues. Last but not least.... I would like to announce a "resurrection" of sorts... 4 years ago my Captain America Cat's Eye got put on permanent hold due to a massive painting blunder. Over the years I have worked slowly with one q-tip at a time scrubbing away the gloppy hardened mess to get back down to the bare resin. Today I threw some Mr Surfacer 1500 Black on some of the totally clean sections and it looks good! I think eventually I can save this awesome kit! 😁
  2. I built a BONE today... This is the Academy 1/144 kit. What is in the picture is all I have needed to build this. Absolutely FANTASTIC kit so far. Fit is 99.9% perfect. Decals are Cartograph so no worries there. I cut out a little hatch in the back cockpit wall to simulate the tunnel to the back, you'll never see it, but whatever. Decent detail for a 1/144 cockpit. My ONLY nitpick is no pilots! They did include cockpit masks so that's a HUGE help for me! Highly recommended!
  3. @tekering I totally sympathize with your quandary about the color. In the end, after re-watching the Robotech Remastered DVD's, which look pretty darn good in my opinion color wise on a professionally calibrated 65" plasma back in the day, I closed my eyes and just remembered what 10 year old me thought the color was and after ENDLESS searching ended up mixing a custom color from Rust-O-Leum spray paints decanted and airbrushed on. There's a couple of spray can colors that are sooo close, but nothing I found was close enough, so I color mixed. Rust-Oleum 2X Spray Paint (which does decant and airbrush VERY nicely) has Nantucket Blue, Satin Lagoon and Satin Teal which you might find interesting depending on how green or blue you wish to go.... Tamiya TS-10, TS-44 and TS-54 gets really close IMHO now though...But it's metallic.
  4. It IS a gorgeous paint scheme! Arcadia should do it in 1/60...HINT HINT
  5. @pengbuzz Breetai looking GOOD! Haven't had much model time to speak of lately due to family situations/work life and a million other things. I did however pick up two new kits for the stash with Amazon reward points and finally got my Blackbird pilots painted and in the cockpit, the cockpit masks on and in place. Stay tuned!
  6. Still got my EXO figs! 😃
  7. @electric indigo Damn man, that chopper looks REAL! Great job!
  8. I'd never seen DYRL before joining this forum back in whatever it was. I got a DVD copy and still to this day I enjoy pulling it out maybe once a year to still be blown away by the quality of the animation. The music is also better than the TV show IMHO. The plot, well, whatever, it is what it is, it's cramming a whole lot into not much time. I grew up watching Robotech so actually watching Macross, Southern Cross, Mospeada and DYLR later in life in my late 20's early 30's was really fun. From there I watched Zero, mehhh..., Macross 7 - I thought it was fun, Frontier, which I still think is a close 2nd to the original and way up there on the re-watch scale, and event Delta, which I never finished...like a lot of folks here..LOL. I'm glad I got into it more, not to mention it got my deep into the BOTTEMLESS MONEY PIT this hobby is!
  9. @tekering - Amazing detail in the sensor eye there! I did good to paint one black stripe evenly on the clear blue part! Question....were you able to find or fashion a pilot figure? Someone here was going to make some resin or 3D prints years ago for me, but it fell through. So even though my cockpit was fully detailed and painted, and my canopy was darkened with Tamiya Smoke, I had to go no pilot...
  10. How about a VF-0A re-release huh??? That wouldn't go unpurchased Arcadia.....
  11. Thanks @pengbuzz, I've actually got the two disc set of Firefox and Heartbreak Ridge on Blu-Ray I picked up years ago from Amazon for like next to nothing. Need to re-watch both!
  12. Back in the mid 80s I was about 10 years old, I never saw FIREFOX in the theater, but I'll always remember when it was run on ABC Sunday Night Movie night... We had a VCR by that point and I recorded all the movies with commercials cut out. My parents didn't buy movies.. Too much $$$ back then. To this day I still remember the voice over guy talking as the trailer they had cut played before the movie started.. One of the lines was "The East is about to meet Eastwood" I mean... It really doesn't get any better than that right?! 🤣 I wore that tape OUT!!! I was a model builder kid, and had a few imitations, but never anything official because there never WAS anything official. I still maintain this is one of the meanest, coolest looking planes ever thought up! Fast forward to now and my FB feed popped up a build of some guys FIREFOX. I Googled it and a few weeks later... YUPP! I went with 1/72 for space reasons, but I would have LOVED a 1/48!!! I haven't done a resin kit in a while since the Moscoto Invids, but I'm gonna try to get back on that horse and makes this look good! For good ole CLINT! 😁
  13. @Kurt That Abrams looks GREAT! I actually bought my first Abrams 1/35 kit this week, it's arriving tomorrow! I've never done armor before, I'm super excited!
  14. @tekering - Someday in the future, can my boy green/orange Invid royal battaloid and your girl purple Invid royal battaloid go out on a date? I SOOO wish I had had the $$$ back then to buy THREE so I could have actually done all 3 schemes of that particular mecha!
