@Return To Kit Form Absolutely phenomenal work!!! The painting and the layers of weathering are just astonishing! Outstanding presentation! Love it!

Yes, it's the Academy 1/72 bird. I'm going the NATO Black now, going to mask some panels as you suggest with some very dark greys and then try some light oil washes for streaks and white chalk, but like you mentioned, I've had that disappear with clear coat. @Papa Rat - I still say you're waaaaay more experienced than you let on! But if you aren't, you have some serious God given talent for modeling! That Elint looks GREAT!

Started knocking back the pre-shading on the Cat's Eye ðïļâðĻïļ and the Blackbird on Monday. I'm determined to make the SR-71 not just look BLACK... but like they do in reality...which isn't easy.

@VF-1A Grunt - Do it! It's a beautiful kit!

Mottling preshading started on the 1/72 Moscato Cat's Eye ðïļ. This is as far as I've gotten on this kit in 10+ or so years.... ðĪ ð. Still deciding on what paint scheme I want to do, kinda want to do something fun and crazy ðĪŠ. Also picked up a Dspiae mini rechargeable electric sander, looked kinda cool for $30.... because I despise sanding... LOL

Perfectly stated! My feelings precisely!

Final Report : Enterprise Leaving Space Dock : NCC-1701...No bloody A, B, C or D! ð. Polar Lights 1/1000 TOS Enterprise Space Seed Edition completed. This was a looong build because life interfered over the past year and a half, this kit was old, you can just tell.... it's my least favorite Enterprise design and the fit issues... My goodness. Soooo much putty and sanding to get rid of ALL the seams..thought it would never end... along with other issues that cropped up along the way...stupid clear domes that are now forever rattling around inside the saucer... But anyways!!!... I'm pretty darn happy with the final result. Looks good enough for me to want to display it at work with my other 1/1000 scale ships. Enjoy the pics! Onto the next unfinished kit on the list! ð

I know the Yamato Fan Racer kit I got from somewhere had the pilot with it. I don't thiiiiink I bought it with my Angel Birds release, but I can't say for sure. No Landing gear though did bum me out. I had plans to make a cool diorama with the 1:60 hand painted Petite Cola machine and figures from @EXO back in the day along side the Yamato VF-1D and Roy's TV-1S and the Angel Bird 1A.

@tekering Awesome looking Black Hole ðģïļ ship! I'm forever jealous of that Borg cube of yours! Over here the TOS Enterprise is in the final stages... As terrifying as it sounds, I'm going to attempt sanding down the decals on this one in order to get that finish looking silky smooooth... Fingers crossed ðĪ! couple of good solid coats of TS - 13 Clear down 1st! If I'm not careful this thing might actually end up looking half way decent!

You guys and your awesome pics of this thing ARE NOT helping me not having one! Seriously considering selling off some Valks and other stuff just to get this combo.....

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post

I like the TV version better, DYRL looks like a low vis camo tiger scheme ... LOL -
@Papa Rat - Man! That recon scout came out GREAT! Good job! I LOVE the texture of the brushing! Yeh, you got luckier than I did on the decals, none of mine survived, they all just disintegrated. I wish I had gone back in and gotten rid of the two seams on the front now where the body comes together on mine, but back then, I didn't have the skills. No pics, but the 1/1000 TOS Enterprise got detail painting finished up and ALL her decals this weekend! She's alllmost ready to depart Space Dock! ð

Maaaan, I would buy the crap out of that scheme! In any scale!

@Papa Rat Brush painting?! You ARE a madman aren't you! There is something soothing and therapeutic about brush painting...to bad I completely SUCK at it and always just give up and break out an airbrush on anything other than the tiniest parts on things....Looking forward to seeing more! What paints are you using and what's your method?

@pengbuzz - Hey man, you 1000% married a GOOOD woman right there! We can bring our Cat's Eye's across the finish line together! In other news...actual progress was made over the past couple of days on the TOS Enterprise! More decals and detail painting today, but I am starting to get excited about finishing this one up!

Sunday morning projects..... In the words of Morpheus... "He's beginning to believe....", that the Moscato Cats Eye may actually turn into a half way decent display piece at some point! Mr Surfacer Black over the whole thing this morning because well, black hides a lot of things.. LOL... Also beginning to get a good feeling for the POS I mean TOS Enterprise.... LOL. 3rd side project, my buddy at work has been restoring a 93 Bronco and asked me if I could paint a 1/64 Greenlight Hot Wheels size white Bronco the color of his... Pretty happy with it so far! My 1st time attempting to repaint a Hot Wheels size anything!

@Papa Rat - I would be cautious of using decal softner on older 80's kit decals. Sometimes the chemistry of that stuff has a funny way of melting/ruining decals, even newer ones! Recommend you ALWAYS test it first on a spare decal you aren't going to be using on the kit if possible. I'm actually shocked you get water slides that old to come off the backing paper. My scout ship's decals were DOA on my kit, but hey, it's more anime accurate without them I suppose.

OK, you know what???.......I'm really kinda starting to like that Pose+ Legioss....someone PLEASE help me! Don't have ANY room for it (not to mention wife would prob hit me over the head with it for that kinda $$$!).....and judging from that picture of it in fighter mode, it might actually hurt or worse! ð That???? Or the Sentinel Re-release Legioss AND TLEAD for $500.......damn, who would have thought we'd be here back in the days of Toynami Masterpiece Alphas and Beta's ðŦĪ

@Papa Rat - Chicken Walker is looking REALLY good! While I re-prime and get painting done on the Cat's Eye, I'm also going to finish up my LEAST favorite of all the 1/1000 Star Trek kits I started but never finished up last year. I've never been a fan of TOS ship design, but I got it for completionism sake. This kit is a nightmare when it comes to fit and seam lines. It's cursed I swear, everything that can go wrong has gone wrong just getting to this stage. It's an OOOLD mold, you can just tell, but I'm not gonna give up and hopefully I can turn it into something halfway decent to sit beside my other 1/1000 ST kits....Stay tuned.

RIP Ozzy! I can imagine Ozzy and Randy Rhodes jammin out together up there!
