  1. So after months of putting it off, the deck on the Texas is now done! Now... I kinda cheated... I mixed up a wash using Vallejo French Blue and Black thinned with H20 and made the color that the deck is supposed to be which is officially US Navy Deck Blue 1942 20B, which is what the actual ship is getting the deck repainted in at this very moment down in Galveston TX. Now I'm sure the pros who build lots of ships are way better than I am at knowing how to paint decks and not make a complete mess of all the stuff ON the deck but an acrylic wash is very forgiving so I went that route. All done with a small brush. Took about 3 coats, to darken it up but from a foot away in natural light it looks pretty believable. A few... well a lot... of touch up with the gray around the gun tubs need to happen but that's not terrible. Then.... It's time to drop the superstructers and main guns down on this bad boy! P. S.... If anybody needs any True North (not cheap) enamel US NAVY DECK BLUE 20B, holla at ur boy, I have 3 unopened bottles! 😂
  2. @pengbuzz - Robert man, I'm devastated for you brother. I'm so sorry to hear this news. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult of times . God Bless you my friend. Wes
  3. @Papa Rat - The Invid are all from the master himself John Moscato or @captain america here on the forums. All resin kits. The purple shock troops were my first attempts at multiple part resin kits that required pinning together so they look a little less good than the rest of the Invid. I got better with each release. He sometimes re-releases kits so keep an eye here on the forums. I'll take some better pics of the two big ones when I try to get LED lights in the cabinets. In other news, ALL Texas parts are now painted, clear coated and ohh my!!!, we must be making forward process if she has her numbers on her hull! 😁
  4. That looks REALLY good! I have the HM-R's and it looks just like those! After a month of crazy work I've finally had time to breath, get some rest and start filling in my cabinets again, finally after almost a year after house renovations.. LOL... it's going to be a bit of a hodgepodge of everything 80s and SciFi for a while but hey at least everything is out of packing boxes! . Only the tip of the iceberg... 🤣 Looooong way to go, but I also had time for some actually modeling today and got the packs bags and tarps painted up for the 1/35 Bradley. Tomorrow... More USS Texas updates hopefully!
  5. I had the PE ones back in the day and they were less than impressive, still better than the kit parts mind you.
  6. 🤣🤣🤣 I myself was disappointed when the Kenner TON TON didn't come with icky guts inside the body cavity to stuff Luke in...... "Mom?...Can you make me some spaghetti???"🤗😂
  7. @ChasWHOOOAA!!! DUDE that's AWESOME!!! I have my 1/500 Yamato in my "To be finished soon" pile! Love the designs from that show!
  8. @Big s -- Yeh that's what I meant...LOL....typing at work when I should be working not model foruming... PRIORITY'S people!!! 😂 And yeh, I need a Traeger smoker at the house too! 🤗😃
  9. WELCOME TO THE 50 CLUB!!! IT SUCKS! 😂 @tekering --- Yeh....I'm eventually gonna HAVE to have one of each of those Buck Rogers Designs in 1:48 or 1/32 Scale!!! I always ADORED the single and double seater designs! Was the 3rd one ever in the show???? I can't recall...
  10. @Papa Rat - I still very much DISLIKE you for making THAT kit (which I built some years ago) look THAT good! 🤩

  12. I really want to get and build this one!!! Haven't tried the brand yet. VF-1D is one of my old favs! Hopefully BBTS will get it eventually.
  13. Ehh, I'll take the wife for her 1st IMAX experience. That won't be a cheap movie date! 😂
  14. Bear McCreary's BSG music makes some GREAT driving music! Just sayin!
  15. Next up in the backlog from like two years ago of kits that aren't finished yet... I'll be finishing up the 1/35 Tamiya Bradley M2A2!
  16. Really wish Bandai wouldn't have abandoned their Star Wars ships line. Those were the best kits and there were sooooo many more to get to! 😭
  17. @Papa Rat - Agreed with most here -- get the Blu-Ray's and watch the new BSG. It's FRACKIN great! (You'll get that joke later)... Thanks everyone for the compliments on the BUFF! I continue to try to improve but I'm always my worst critic! @tekering - As a HUGE fan of Southern Cross, I envy ALL your Captain America Resin builds, can't wait to see this one completed! Side note --- Would you ever think about trying to design and print the Zor's or "Robotech Master's" Mother ship? I've NEVER seen even a garage kit of it....
  18. Gotta admit, that looks all kinds of FUN AND PLAYABLE WITHABLE! If they release the OG schemes, I'd bite on all 3!
  19. @wm cheng - Well......soooort of....LOL. Honestly, this builds paint job took some crazy weird turns. My original flat gray paint job looked amazing, then the Tamiya spray can gloss darkened things up and I guess somehow reacted oddly with the Mission Models acrylic paint because from then on it never EVER lost this almost sticky tacky feeling. I resprayed Alclad gloss over my decals through the airbrush but even that didn't get rid of it completely, so I went back over the whole model again with light thinned down coats of the same paint and then sealed everything in Alclad Flat clear through the airbrush. It's pretty much normal feeling now....mostly...LOL
  20. @Papa Rat Damn! She's gorgeous! Over here the BUFF is finished up! Academy 1/144 B-52H. Decent enough kit overall...
  21. Well..... That went as well as it possibly could have I think... Mission Models Gunship Gray thinned with Tamiya Acrylic thinner. I've been working on retraining my brain 🧠 to LET the airbrush do the work, don't worry about getting in super close to the model to get all the little areas. Cover it lightly as best you can then go in a little heavier then go in a 3rd time and try to get any spots you missed. Seems to have worked pretty well. These battleships are a very different beast when it comes to the painting... PATIENCE is a virtue young padawan! Coming from painting air planes and space ships I've had to learn that...
