Yeh, I'm more than just a little hacked off. This kit plus the 1/72 Glaug is running $175 shipping from HLJ for TX from Japan. YEH NOPE. They can keep it and I'll just loose my money on the price of the kits eventually I guess. UTTERLY RIDICULOUSπ€¬

Academy 1/72 SR-71 finished and mounted on its stand. After market resin pilots are in there from like 2 years ago.. In their appropriate orange flight suits. Didn't turn out to bad. Flat coat kinda killed off my beautiful oil streaking but ohh well. It's done. Moving on!

@tekering thank you! That means a lot coming from a builder with your skill level! The beat up Bug looks incredibly life like! Great job!

I ran into Hobby Lobby yesterday to grab some small cheap wood bases and brass rods and on the model isle I was impressed myself with the amount of Bandai Star Wars and Gundam stuff they had. They didn't have that GIANT Tie but ohhh man, if they had, my wife would have been asking me "WTH is THAT?!" when I came back out to the truck! π -
LOL π. @Papa Rat Not sure about a good beginner boat kit, I'd say go Tamiya and not Trumpeter though out of the gate to get your feet wet no pun intended... Over here today I finished up the Academy 1/144 B2. Great little kit. I could have done better on the painting but I wanted to build it up quick. Enjoy the pics! SR-71 is finished and will be on its base tomorrow with pics forthcoming!

Never heard of anyone calling this SDF-1 "small"...LOL. I guess you could track down the Yamato 1/2000 one if you want a bigger version.

Bandai STILL got the grey toooo dark on the DX release GBP Armor....Mind you it's still waaaay better than Yamato/Arcadia did with the dark blue...π

I reckon it's time for aa USS Texas update..... Did some more very fine PE work this morning. Eveything you see that's brass or white (primered white brass) is PE. I can only do PE early in the morning especially on Sunday mornings, classical music playing... It helps... LOL. So far, so good, the result will (hopefully) be worth all the time and effort.

Almost there...... Please... Lord... No more 1/144 NO STEP/ panel lines... My nerves can't take it.... π΅βπ«π₯΄

@Papa Rat - There's lots to pick from around, I would say if and when I ever get another one, I would make sure to get one that was slightly taller to accommodate parts being on holding sticks easier. Mine's just slightly to short sometimes.

@tekeringYes, yes it is! Barbatos Rex recommended drying painted parts in one years ago on his YT channel so I jumped all over that idea and my in-laws hooked me up for Xmas. Over here in north TX high humidity is a LARGE factor a large portion of the year. I have LOVED having it to dry / cure painted kits/parts in. 113 or 122 degrees for 30 min to 1 hour is all you need. One of my largest failings in the past was touching and working on my freshly painted models before they fully cured, (which is a word I had to LEARN does NOT mean dry to the touch!), resulting in tears and resprays many many times. Also the food dehydrator is GREAT for keeping DUST and CAT HAIR out of your drying paint!

@tekering - Ahh! Guess I missed those! Excellent clean build! The recon pod has always been my favorite! Looks GREAT with the two HMR brownies!

@Thom - it has to be said we had some random floaters coming down on the Blackbird....had to keep the tweezers handy....ππ«£
