Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
Dynaman replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've not seen it but since a number of episodes were much better then the last 3 movies combined I am perfectly willing to believe you. Next year I will probably sign up for a month to catch up on everything.- 1217 replies

On the flip side, I was born just 3 years short of the last public lynching in the US (the kind where everyone knew and nobody could/would prosecute) so I don't idolize the good old days quite so much.

Here in NJ visiting family is allowed but I still can't visit my mother. She is 89 and just before the virus hit she fell in her garage. I found her hours later when I got out of work and spent the night in the emergency room with her. Luckily she was out of the hospital and rehab before the virus hit the facility she was at. Since my son works TSA we have not been to visit but if the weather gets warm and sunny we plan to drive over and sit outside while she stays inside.

Lucas said over and over he wanted to show that Vader was not evil all his life and was twisted towards it. If he had done so with a little (any) more finesse I would have been happy with it. If he could have done it with the skill that Davros' early days was done would have been great. And perhaps having a better child actor... (nothing against the kid but he was a lousy actor)

No spoiler since the movie is how old now... Killing off preacher earlier made Wash's death that much more unexpected - on top of how sudden it was. At that point I was not sure if any of the others would make it or not. I really wish this movie had done well. Time to watch it again.

Even when there is no "woke/PC crap" the first comment has to be about it... Trailer looks good but I'm not signing up for another pay to stream site.

I'm just outside Atlantic City and things are not looking good for another month according to the latest. Even then social distancing is still going to be required and large gatherings most likely not allowed till well into 2021 or a vaccine is created - and that is not expected till at least April of next year (and that is optimistic). One of my goto sites is this one. Part of it is listing when individual states might be able to scale back on restrictions and New Jersey and New York are currently listed as late May but that can change if predictions do not hold up - and even then it would be with no large gatherings. https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america

Not yet but thanks for the reminder. This one is on the list as soon as I finish up Star Trek: Discovery - interesting enough to watch as part of my free month but I won't be paying... Looking forward to this one and hope it is good. I really liked the 2004 Appleseed, much better then the older one. The 2007 sequel I was not too impressed with.

If forecast modelling holds up (and it is as much guesswork still as science) the large population centers of the Northeast are not going to allow regular seating at theaters and such till late July or August. If so even if movies do get released they are going to have pretty awful box office numbers. On the plus side they might have more "legs" as it were. I'm old enough to remember when rolling movie releases were more common.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Dynaman replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nods? Peoples head would nearly fall off to "nod" enough. Not a bad thing mind you, other then the Panty Chase I really liked Frontier. Netflix has a bunch of Anime and GitS on the way. Looks like I'll have plenty to watch. -

I'd call the majority of it trash. Then again the same goes for every year since the dawn of animated entertainment (and every other form too). The only difference is modern trash doesn't appeal to me for the most part while trash from my preteen to early teen years does. Late teens - I was an early curmudgeon... -
Would you like to see return of original characters?
Dynaman replied to Psajdak's topic in Movies and TV Series
I would love to see the series redone like Yamato 2199 did for Yamato. But NOT like Yamato 2202 did for the second series of Yamato. And there is the problem, you don't know what your going to get till it's done. -

They might be able to sound like them but they are not yet able to emote like them. I've not (yet) heard any computer done voice that is convincing for anyone else - not without a lot of artistry to go along with it.

Finished episode 3 today and like it. Besides the fact that Romulan super secret police are idiots (beam THEM up ya morons) it is a decent critique of modern culture.

I just saw the first episode yesterday and while I don't think it was great I had fun. My only real complaints are the interview should never have happened that way (trap interview question should lead to getting beamed out...) and in ST if you want to kidnap someone you transport them into a cell - since the transporters obviously were working in the areas in question.

It has only been around a single season. Being highly infectious and nobody yet having immunity it will spread even in places still in the midst of summer right now (viruses don't go away in summer they just can't reproduce as easily for some reason). Even the experts can't agree on what will happen come fall.

If it works like other Coronaviruses it will start kicking back up again in October/November. If it becomes as big a problem then as it is now then (I can't think of any term harsh enough that would make it through the naughty language filter). First up we should have herd immunity by then and second off we should have testing for it so it can be tracked better.

First positive (entertainment) news I've personally read (other then a couple of movies getting early release to video) is that the Snowpiercer show debut date has been moved up to Mid-May. Not having seen the movie I don't know if that counts as a good thing or not.

I never really put two and two together before but yup, once we had kids going out to movies was more of a hassle then it was usually worth. Now that the kids are adults we just got out of the habit. Still going to miss the odd movie now and then - and more so all the shows and movies that are on production hold.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Dynaman replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It could be a good chance to show that the other side of the Empire were not all good. All of them would have some kind of strife going on that the Empire should exploit. Palpatine being how he is he would play that to the hilt. And perhaps someone other then Lucas could do a decent job of writing subtle material in that vein.- 1438 replies

Woke - to some it means social justice. To others it means hetero-sexual white male emasculation. Take your pick.
