They might be able to sound like them but they are not yet able to emote like them. I've not (yet) heard any computer done voice that is convincing for anyone else - not without a lot of artistry to go along with it.

Finished episode 3 today and like it. Besides the fact that Romulan super secret police are idiots (beam THEM up ya morons) it is a decent critique of modern culture.

I just saw the first episode yesterday and while I don't think it was great I had fun. My only real complaints are the interview should never have happened that way (trap interview question should lead to getting beamed out...) and in ST if you want to kidnap someone you transport them into a cell - since the transporters obviously were working in the areas in question.

It has only been around a single season. Being highly infectious and nobody yet having immunity it will spread even in places still in the midst of summer right now (viruses don't go away in summer they just can't reproduce as easily for some reason). Even the experts can't agree on what will happen come fall.

If it works like other Coronaviruses it will start kicking back up again in October/November. If it becomes as big a problem then as it is now then (I can't think of any term harsh enough that would make it through the naughty language filter). First up we should have herd immunity by then and second off we should have testing for it so it can be tracked better.

First positive (entertainment) news I've personally read (other then a couple of movies getting early release to video) is that the Snowpiercer show debut date has been moved up to Mid-May. Not having seen the movie I don't know if that counts as a good thing or not.

I never really put two and two together before but yup, once we had kids going out to movies was more of a hassle then it was usually worth. Now that the kids are adults we just got out of the habit. Still going to miss the odd movie now and then - and more so all the shows and movies that are on production hold.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Dynaman replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It could be a good chance to show that the other side of the Empire were not all good. All of them would have some kind of strife going on that the Empire should exploit. Palpatine being how he is he would play that to the hilt. And perhaps someone other then Lucas could do a decent job of writing subtle material in that vein.- 1438 replies

Woke - to some it means social justice. To others it means hetero-sexual white male emasculation. Take your pick.

Sadly even the production of TV and (well just about everything) is on hold. I rarely go to movies myself, 3 times a year at most, but even the video releases are going to be slim this year.

This "series" is such a mess I wouldn't get hungup any particular offense. It was even Robotech in name only.

the thing is the studios know you (we) are most likely going to rent/buy the movie for home use after you watch it at the theater and they are loathe to give up that extra revenue (which to be fair could make the difference between profitable or not). Combine that with a lot of the movies that were due to be done by next year being delayed due to the virus and I can't really blame them for delaying a year. I wish they wouldn't but I can see why they would feel the need to do so.

Of blockbusters that is. There are a couple of other mentions on individual movies but this is the first article I've read that shows the entire summer season is just going to be pushed back a year. Some movies will come out later in the summer if things go well but as a whole this is going to be a skipped year. https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/coronavirus-sony-postpones-morbius-ghostbusters-afterlife

Sure Hollywood is making some bad movies today with "woke" themes. They also made just as many bad movies back in every previous decade. Blaming bad movies or comics on "woke" is as bad as blaming them on too much testosterone in the eighties. Anyone pointing at a bad movie and saying it is bad because it is saying something they don't want to hear might need to rethink that position.

Could be, when your core demographic is nerdy white men living in their mom's basements still I can see how that might be a problem. They (comic books) need to go back to that only demographic that has been "woke" and demanding to themselves since the dawn of time, white males.

I was about to post and then I remembered. The Prequels and Sequels just aren't worth arguing about. I'm sure I'll forget that later but for now give me Vader when we didn't know he was a whiny snot as a kid (and also before he wimped out in RotJ).

I'm wondering where ST will go in the age of a pandemic. We have not had one since 1918 and that was quickly forgotten. Will ST become darker or will it get back the feeling of hope that the original strove for? We could use that in entertainment about now.

Yes - everyone believes that wunderkind had no father (his mother made no claim of being a virgin, not exactly the same thing). The Skywalkers were slaves, kinda sloppy of whoever brought about wunderkind to lose track of him like that.

TMP - The signs of what could have been a great movie are there but it fell flat on its face so I have to disagree with it being the worst. I often read with it on in the background - granted that is not a ringing endorsement. The true atrocities of the Trek movie world are STV and Nemesis. I do not find Into Darkness as bad as those two. A couple minor alterations could have made it a much better film, those being no Khan (saying it was Khan made no real difference to the character) and getting rid of Spock's "Khan!" moment.
