  1. I think Picard is less bitter and guilt ridden than when the series started. He tends to improve when he's not sitting on his bitter behind. And the Odyssey class is growing on me a bit, esp with that saucer separation leaving a 'leaner' bow behind on the stardrive section. It looks like more of an appropriate follow-on to the Galaxy class than the Sovereign. And the Titan-A actually looks pretty classy!
  2. Episodic TV does allow for far more 'resets' than one overarching story line. Having a continuous story doesn't allow any let up, or a space to catch a breath to hit that mini-reset. It just keeps going, which is why SNW has done so well, in that it turns the main story into chapters with side adventures to break the overall story up into more easily digestible bits. It's more the classic-type of story telling. If they had done the same with Picard, I don't think the impression of them all being 'broken' would be so pronounced. As it is, it is just too front and center, without any of that breathing room (distraction) supplied by a new plot. IMO though, I don't see them as broken. I see them as struggling against demons, both personal and without, and personally, I don't mind if they give up now and then. They're more real that way, No one is a paragon of eternal courage and strength and untarnished hopefulness. What matters is when they get back up again after being knocked down, or telling themselves they were done, and continuing on, which these characters continue to do.
  3. That's what I'm thinking. Though I would have liked some mention earlier. I've been fine with this series, but the crux of her drive to fight against Sauron has been put heavily upon her brother's death, with no mention of...
  4. IMO, it seems little different from the series or the follow-up TNG moves. A little more 'gritty' maybe, but the crews have gone through hardships before. Worf lost his parents, K'Ehleyr and then his wife. Geordi lost his mother, and had that little embarrassing thing with Leah Brahms, and hey, Crusher fell in love with a ghost. Hard times! But that's part of the drama of the show. Like real life, you have quiet moments of happiness and then times of hardship that make it seem like there is far too little of the former. I think what they really should have done, was to remove the personal aspect out of it and make the crisis something new, and then watch how the characters respond to it and personalize it along the way. I agree that not every villain has to have some personal tie to any of the characters.
  5. I watched the trailer again, and I don't see these moments where they are broken or miserable. Under duress, certainly. As for the new ships, part of it is us. What is one of the main things that we all look for when they come out with a Star Trek series or movie? New ships.
  6. I'd take the new Titan or Stargazer over season 2's copy/paste fleet any day of the week! And the new Titan is from Bill Krause, who is making some awesome ship designs based on the ST universe. Granted, the Titan is based on his TMP-era Shangri-la, and they just asked him to update the design, so I wonder what he could come up with if they'd asked him for a truly post TNG style?
  7. That looked better, and her final line delivery was classic. I'm also getting a hefty...
  8. I actually don't like the Odyssey class. Just something about it makes me wish hard for the old Sovereign. I think it's just too many swoopy lines and curves. So I'm glad they're using this new Titan, if not the Stargazer. As to the show, I'm going to watch and enjoy, cause heck, I'm up for watchin the old crew limp about, and it ain't Discovery!🤪
  9. I liked it overall, but I don't know how I feel about Plummer as the main villain. Came off a bit campy. Hopefully the full season will give her more depth.
  10. Great job. Looks ready to rock and roll!
  11. I see the yard supervisor is as diligent as ever! And giving you that thousand yard stare. Really, some great work on the additions.
  12. HLJ mostly, though that was before the 'Dark Times' when shipping was cheaper to the US. 😉 I did buy a few from WAHWAH models. They don't have a lot in stock right now, but there is some. https://www.wahwahmodelshop.com/product-category/hasegawa-model/macross/ Another is Hobby Search. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/693/0/1 Then, of course, Amazon or good 'ol ebay. Good luck!
  13. Awesome dio! And welcome to the board!
  14. Not too terribly. I'm assuming it'll keep to the high points as alluded to in FoTR. As to mithril being worn as jewelry by the elves, that is another way that what they are doing on TRoP could obliquely tie into. In RoTK, Arwen's necklace falls and shatters when she decides to remain on Middle Earth. If that was mithril, infused with the light of the Valar or a Simaril, then that could be her losing it's protection upon her soul. In effect, choosing mortality. (Not an explanation for what she used for protection while Aragon held the necklace.)
  15. Yes and no. If you are expecting the show to follow Tolkien's canon on Middle Earth, you're going to end up being confused. As I understand it, Amazon only has licensing for 'bits'n'pieces' of Middle Earth-verse, so it is best to take this as a fan-fiction version of the history before the Hobbit. Which would explain the condensing of much of the timeline, from hundreds of years to only a few and a mix/match approach using the events of the First and Second Ages. And since this is supposed to be leading up to Jackson's movies, I assume she will be meeting up with Celeborn at some point. As to mithril, that I don't know. I never heard it being as any more than a unique metal, though I am liking the yarn they are starting to spin with it.
  16. I've been liking it a lot, even with a slower pace. At fifty episodes, they can't dump everything in the first five. Build the story up so we see what the stakes are for people, how much they are putting on the line and how much they don't want to risk. And how much they are eventually going to lose. I like how they folded the mithril in with the Balrog, and how much of it is needed in order to save the elves from... old age... I'm assuming this would then be the same Balrog that shows up in LoTR. For Isildur, he's young guy trying to find his direction. No one springs from the womb being exactly who they are from legend. I think he'll find his way once they reach Middle Earth and Mordor, I mean the Southlands. As for Galdrial and her armor, it is different than the armor from the first few episodes. I just assumed they had some lying about from the old days. They did go the west of Numenor, where the elves are still revered. Here she is in her in the original armor, just before they get on the ship And the second set of armor she got from Numenor, Have to say, I do like the second set better than the first. It 'looks' more elvish. And, it had some design cues with her brother's armor, making me think it is an older set that was gifted to her. Such as what I assume is the Evenstar on the chest piece.
