1/48 Gbp-1s Detail Review

I was a button away from buying the first release on ebay, and I stumbled across Graham's "stay tune" comment. The suspense is killing me!!!

By the way I'm a newbie on this site. Hi everyone!!!! Because of MW, I learnt a fair bit about the 1/48s but I can now proudly say I'm penniless with a fast shrinking wallet. Yamato, you are killing me too!! :D

If Yamato keeps comming with cool stuf like the GBP/new low vis/stealth I'll never get around to buying a VF-1S Roy. damnit :(

Don't worry. It's starting to look as if they will keep reissuing that bad boy until every living soul on the planet has got one. Yamato's master plan revealed! ;)

(Edited for spelling and grammar. Duuhh...)

I'm glad they are fixing it. I hate it when stuff snaps. Expensive toys should be unbreakable if possible imo. Love the existing GBP though.

Will the GBP recolor itself be the only one with the improvement? Will they reissue newer GBP with improvements in the older colour as well?

This is so that I can tell if some ebay seller tries to sell me an older version and I can query if it is a newer, improved release versus the old release.

What were these extra details that were talked about earlier?

GBP is pretty much problem free. The chest problem will be fixed by the second release. Still waiting to find out the color change (if any) of the 2nd release. Sorry.

HLJ has it up for a march restock now.

Any word on a color change?

BTW. I couldn't wait any longer and I ordered one along with the Super Stealth.

It's going to be a very long wait. :(

 • 2 months later...

When you do, could you let me know if they fixed the chest mechanism piece that breaks in the chest when missiles are inserted roughly?

Thanks. I am thinking to get a tv hikaru vf1J (outfitted with the gbp) one day. (after the wallet recovers from all the macross zero stuff)

With all the recolouring of fast packs (ie black for SStealth, blue and red for max and milia) and recolouring of GBP(camo valk) I wonder if they would come up with an idea to release a special LE cannon fodder fast pack? (done up in the tan of the CF? or maybe release a super cannon fodder set like the super hikarua and super max etc - this might be a good way to sell some more CF? But this time the pilot wears a DYRL-style space suit but comes with the usual tv fast pack and arm armor)

the backpack, using the same metal joint as we know, and plus a extra armor parts(the grey parts) , make the backpack stick with the back of the body without any gap, and have a "lock" to prevent it falling backward.

and the burner parts are movable TOO~!

Is the back pack boosters front nozzle detachable from the booster much like the fastpack and if so can you attach a regular fast pack version on it?

356348

Yes, the front part of the GBP-1S's back pack booster is detachable.

No, you cannot attach a regular FAST Pack version on it.

Question:

What do the the back pack units do on the GBP?

Are they Minimissile pods like the the "Super" or are they just boosters

to carry they core Valk to safety when they eject from a damaged suit

of armor?

Was there ever a CF with Fast Packs/Strike ever seen on screen?

405558

I think i've seen one in Force of Arms. Before they blew up Bodolza's fortress....there was one sticking out ofthe hatch with the other missiles.

The GBP back packs do not contain the mini missles that the "supers" have.

If the Armor has a selective jettison then the boosters could be used to assist the core Valk. To jettison wing stores on a real aircraft, there is by position and then also jettison all. It is not a far fetched idea to think the same for the GBP.

In the TV series Hikaru ejected all the armor and the boosters. This may have been in preparation for him to infiltrate the Zentradi scout ship.

As seen on Macross 25th Anniversary, the beginning of VF-X Ravens shows two VF-1As “skating†across the surface of a planet at night. The back pack would supplement the thrust from the legs and provided forward thrust in addition to the three thrusters on the back of the Valk. There is also a scene in space when all the armor is ejected and the VF-1A retains the boosters.

Frankin Ugly!

Got the GBP armor and TV VF-1J Hikaru with fast packs last night and created a Frankin Ugly Armored Gerwalk.

Two Strike Cannons on the TV Fast Packs, with the GBP shoulders, forearms, hands and lower leg armor. The Gerwalk is very nose heavy and wants to pitch forward, does not hold the gun pod well. Plus it looks awful.

It will be converted to GBP battroid tonight.

Took apart the chest piece to insert the missiles it was held together with four screws and two spots of glue. It required a little force to get the gray interior panel to release from the glue spots.
