Looking very promising

That’s probably the best way to watch the movie. Definitely don’t try and watch it seriously, because it’s pretty bad. But there’s bits here and there that are kinda interesting. Jack Palance is always great to see, but a little weird here with the britishy accent. He is however the best actor in the movie although he’s like 50 years older than his younger brother. I’ll have to try and find the rifftrax version, I didn’t think to search for that and watched to regular version.

I still like to think of KK as the sith behind green lighting what the writers are allowed to produce. She's always pulling the strings from the shadows.. All hating aside. I'm looking forward to another go at it. Hopefully something interesting. Clearly they're steering away from known territory , so as not to invoke overly long negative analyses from fans and haters alike .

I don't recall but others surely do. I'm guessing a $100 bucks less than evilbay. Unfortunately we're now banned from the land of the rising sun, so Mandrake is probably not an option. Hopefully a fellow MW'er will hear you song and sell you one
-
Holy moly those 2 listings are $300+! That seems like those inflated eBay prices. Does anyone know what the original price was?

You'll need to take the time to sand off all those layer lines, especially that rough lip along the chest. 😣 Man, DLP printers are no good for miniatures. 🤨 I hope that didn't cost you much! 😅

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next

Misrepresentation at its worst, to be sure. 😒 Transformers packaging has come a long way since then. Look what just arrived on my doorstep: A beautiful slipcase reveals a stylish cardboard box inside... ...with the contents neatly arranged in the blister within. This is how these figures have been released for the Japanese market. The set cost ¥10,000 shipped from Amazon.jp. 👌- 17575 replies

Recently won an eBay auction for a new in box VF-25F Super Messiah. Everything was great, except the gun arm is floppy in several poses but slightly snug in others. And the fixed gun hand was floppy in the socket. This is the first one I’ve had where the articulated hand actually worked well. And then of course you have the little alto there doing the Isamu thing. Now I want a Isamu statue doing the thing. And of course he is hanging off into the void on one of the amazing Gokin+ stands. (Extremely shameless plug). Seriously, they are freaking awesome and as you can see I trust them. You would seriously have to try to tip the whole unit to get them to fall.

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post

Can't argue there but the machine gun crossbow and Elf archer with the deadpan delivery (is that genius acting or REALLY BAD acting). makes the show. Or was it Jack Palance chewing up the scenario, the script, and everything else the draw? Or perhaps the dialog between the dwarf and giant? Rifftrax does a riff on this one, so that adds to the fun too.

I'm guessing the ToyRise line for Votoms is going to be a refreshed, hopefully 100% assembled, version of the Actic Gear line. I'd probably wait and see what they're going to be like. No question Hi-Metal R is amazing but it's always going to be an investment compared to the much smaller Actic Gear or ToyRise lines. The benefit of cheap Votoms toys is battle buidling... it'd be fun to have 3 Turbo Customs going up against several Bloodsuckers... but no way I'm doing that in Hi-Metal R.

Yeah, but those announcements were still a few years back and I haven’t seen Bandai do that kinda thing recently with their kits. Toys on the other hand are a different story
-
OK. The kits pending by Bandai are mainly GD. A franchise that around 2015 released a record of over 100 new models then, and since stabilized to about 32 plus new models yearly. It's expected with that many releases that not all announcement make it. So far, from what I recall, all their Macross announcements have reached shelves.

Unfortunately, this is next in line… Just now realizing the differences in working pla models. Any suggestions on how to TLC this thing is greatly appreciated!

Looks great! Been super busy with life stuff, kid back to school etc… but got to get to work on that VE-1. So far only getting a few pieces primed in mahogany and painted. The brown primer gives it a really nice warm shift and I think it will be a great balance with all the cool gray colors when sprayed on top. I have to fix the left thruster “is that what’s it called” since I had glue drip on it when locking it in for assembly and ruined the paint. Ugh… anyway. Getting some putty, some pla plate in the mix. I also cut out the connection for the top thruster pod things so I could attach them after assembly. Soon I will be cruising on this one. I’m getting excited, but still need to find a simple stand for 1:72 scale. The hunt continues.

There was a bunch of RE/100 kits that were teased but never came out. A couple things eventually saw the light of day as MGs while others disappeared entirely.

So I did a rewatch last night and honestly for the most part it’s really bad. I remember a lot better. The dialogue is delivered by mostly amateur actors and there’s some really cheesy fights. Oddly the backgrounds look like they’re mostly drawn in by children’s book illustrators and that’s sometimes close backgrounds. Jack Palance plays the oldest older brother ever here for some hilarity. A good majority of the movie is built on the same scene basically done over and over again. A character is in trouble and either the main character or a friend of the main character gets into a challenge with the people causing problems, usually starting with one of the group getting killed off and one or two members being left to challenge a hero character in some way. The music is actually the best part of the movie and mostly because it’s weird and catchy. Like an odd mix of renaissance fair and disco. It sounds like a horrible match, but I gotta give credit to whoever did this soundtrack bet the made that awkward mix somehow work, like I said it’s really kinda catchy the way it’s set up. It could easily have been something more to add to the train wreck of a movie, but here it stands out and kinda makes things feel bigger than they really are.

I completely agree with you. The stuff I’ve seen has pretty always had a decent or even great group of actors and the visual effects are pretty much at the top as well. Unfortunately the writing is often where the stories fall apart. Sometimes it’s too much of an agenda or sometimes it’s expecting everyone to have watched a cartoon, but most of the time it’s just pure stupidity

I do love em, but that’s more of a story of a couple of alpha males clashing and causing a breakup. Although the more interesting story for them is the post breakup. A few years afterwards is when their stuff really gained popularity mostly due to Cliff Burton always wearing their shirts and tattoos since he was a major fan. That oddly made a massive push for their logos on T shirts and rereleases of albums to hit a totally new generation. Merch alone has made them one of the most recognized in the biz and I still see plenty of skaters and punks and goths and metal heads wearing their stuff to this day. The popularity of their stuff made the brothers Doyle and Jerry Only want to reform the band. Of course Danzig was already huge with his own career and really didn’t take too much interest until recently leading to a revolving door of vocalists. Again lots of clashing before things cooled down enough for a somewhat proper reunion.
