  2. Came home from a short vacation to this funny little kit I got from Wise Guys eBay store. It’s the IMAI 1/100 Glaug “iron type” It looks like the runners are all painted with a thin metallic wash which I haven’t seen before. Oh, and It also included a lunar display base. Very cool. Excited to get this going. Juggling multiple builds right now. 🤪
  3. I fully understand how dead in the water Gundam mangas are. I'm not saying it will get a show. Just addressing that it is their next immediate venture into tropey themes that they are throwing money behind, yet not fully commiting to it, exactly in the way you described. Just tacking on personal hopes that the writing does something I want to see, so that it could turn into something worth animating, not saying that has anything to do with plans for the project actually going anywhere.
  4. Yeah, I wish the trailer was designed to look like a generator or a portable office building or something. Even a giant portapotty!
  5. Long Haul has always been my favorite of the individual Constructicons, followed by Scavenger, both of whom I owned as a kid. They were the only Constructicons I owned, however, which means I waited decades before buying Toyworld's version making them my first and only complete set of the team to date. That'll change by the end of the year, and I'm happy about that. While they have their warts, the SS86 toys overall have been pretty well executed. I wish more of the vehicle functionality was present among the various team members. A non-tipping bed has always been my biggest gripe for nearly every version of Long Haul, including my TW version, since the original G1 toy and unfortunately the trend continues with this guy. I'm also afraid that SS86 Scavenger's boom deck isn't going to rotate either, a downgrade from his G1 toy if so. I do, however, love how closely this Long Haul skews aesthetically towards his G1 toy, and I like the arm solution even if it does leave some ugly black openings on the sides of the front, which really affects the cab side more than the exhaust side. Shame they couldn't make a hinged panel to cover that, but oh well. The highly noticeable gap between his pretty obvious feet and the extended cab guard is also another unfortunate holdover from the G1 toy, although the original did a better job of hiding it. I wish they'd deviated from the OG design and incorporated that into the feet so that the bed at least looked like one solid piece. On the whole, though, this take on Long Haul is a definite improvement over the CW version, and that makes me very happy. I'll be happy to have him in hand. As for the kibble trailer, while I'm not opposed to making it look utilitarian for use with Long Haul or one of the other team members, I don't like that it required the use of two large folding panels to form a sort of tonneau cover for the thighs only to become an industrial sized butt plate for Devastator. If I had my druthers, I'd just rather they let the thighs be thighs and omit the superfluous panels and accompanying wheels. I will, say, however, that at least the wheels match Long Haul's, complete with silver painted rims, and that helps to sell it as a purposeful accessory for Long Haul. However, the big purple wings on the sides and the black missile pods made up of Devy's arms kinda ruin the illusion that this is just a piece of construction equipment. but at least it's storage! 🙄😄 One last niggle: I wish he had the dual back wheels like the OG toy. Dump trucks, by the laws of nature, should have dual back wheels. It's also the rule of cool, and probably in the ancient Sumerian texts, the Egyptian hieroglyphs, Archimedes' treatises, and somewhere in the Bible. " Before thou hitcheth thine ox unto thy dump cart, maketh certain to affix dual wheels to each side" or some such verbiage. Probably in the Proverbs; they say Solomon was a smart dude. 😜

  8. Oh dear Gawd, why?!?! His last few Transformers movies (ie all of them) were so full of infantile, over the top crap that it's a wonder anyone would give him another franchise to wreck. Or further wreck. Can you wreck a wreck..? Wreck on a wreck!? The only good one to come out of the franchise was Bumblebee and that wasn't even directed by him. I recall seeing that and thinking that, finally, it had turned away from his idiotic corner, but I guess whether someone has talent or not doesn't matter. Unless it is 980° from anything else he has ever made, this is probably something I will not watch for free. In fact, I will pay myself not to watch it.
  9. Err...what? Really really confused by this, because... that doesn't make much sense. B and V are the second most infamous "Japanese does not make a distinction" pair of consonant sounds after R and L - and one of the first anime I ever watched in Japanese was Slayers, where Megumi Hayashibara's voice going "REBITEI-SHUN" and "DORAGON SUREIBU" are some of my stand-out memories. Especially since I just rewatched the the first episode the other day. When you said they have different kana, I tried to look them up, and not a single kana table - even the big ones, that cover Hiragana, Katakana, Dakuon, Handakuon and Yoon - have a "vu" sound listed. So I'm really most sincerly confused. What kana are they using in that name? Edit: OK, I googled the kana itself from your post, and found a wiktionary page. It's a real kana, used exclusively for transliteration, and it's noted to be a relatively recent addition, which is likely why it's not in my scanned-from-schoolbooks tables. But... as mentioned, Japanese itself does not make a distinction, and we have plenty of examples of Japanese natives, even working professionally, being *really careless* with B/V and R/L because it doesn't come naturally. If you're really sure it's specfically meant to be a V sound, then Evna from Oz sounds like the best fit.
  10. I’ve been thinking to myself that I am very envious of the Heat Boys Turtles collectors. In less than 2.5 years they got the four main turtles out and hopefully get out Shredder by the end of this month. Meanwhile my Gundam 00 team sits at 2/4 members after 12 years and my Gundam Wing team is at 2/5 after just 7 short years. I have no hope Bandai will ever get to release a GFFMC Heavy Arms Customs (Endless Walz ver.). Or god forbid a Epyon or Tallgeese. And I have the option to choose between 5 different yet obscure Gundam Seed flyers but not MB Skygrasper? I don’t understand Bandai Tamashii Nations release strategy. Sorry I should stop whining and go to bed.
  11. I guess there’s not much hope for the live action Transformers movies anymore
  12. That sucks, I was very curious about that
  13. Lots of YF-19 love going in lately
  14. Hobby JAPAN has released more detailed images of Bandai's Hi-Metal R FATTY showing of what parts are metal and some of the opening as well as joints! I must admit that it's somewhat amazing what Bandai has done with this mech! Shows that they are taking their time to give us the best available... Also Hi-Metal really means Metal in this series 🤗 I will work on adding and cleaning up the translation soon!
  15. The anime series that follows the manga closely would be more ideal. I think that got cancelled too, ugh.
  16. Maybe? I think that may be more of a happy accident. None of the sources I've translated thus far have shed any light on the origin/meaning of the Nome family name. It's spelled ノーム, which is used for several different loanwords like Gnome, Noam, and Nome. The most likely explanation I can come up with for their family name is that it is meant to be the same as "gnome", a reference to the earth spirit//fairy of Renaissance folklore that the Nomes of The Wonderful World of Oz are named for. Not that the Nome family of Macross have any real resonance with the folkloric creatures the way Baum's Nomes do.
  17. If your hands are clean, you're not doing the work. 😉 I love those welding seams, Cap'. 😍
  18. nice collection
  19. OK, these are super cool. I appreciate you making me aware of them.
  20. May it stay that way. Hollywood's track record with anime is so bad that all I can do is celebrate the demise of a project like this. The odds of it being another dumpster fire like Cowboy Bebop, Dragonball Evolution, or Speed Racer are far higher than the odds of them producing anything watchable.
