RIP Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers)

I say get it for the nostalgic boxart! But seriously, the size does not justify the current prices, especially if you take tekering's offer into account. It is a good kit of the subject, though. -

Maybe, but still doesn’t explain the big boob job

For some reason I don’t remember it having the gunpod, my bad memory I guess.
-
Would have so much rather have had a sequel to Legacy!

Your communication is very clear, but you're responding to the wrong post. 😉 My response to @Big s was intended to illustrate that Hikaru's Armored Valkyrie is shown holding a gunpod... in every single shot, actually. 😅

Hi. I know this is an old thread but, has anyone here built one of these? I have one but can't figure out the transformation properly.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

I am so far behind in this series.. its a advertisement for camping equipment with some take away value for camping tips.. If its as you say then I am just bailing on it now. Am I missing anything this season.. any sleepers? -
If you want a vintage "Starfighter" model by Christmas, eBay might be your only recourse... If, however, you want an accurate Thunder fighter that's larger, more detailed, and easier to assemble and paint, there are superior 3D-printed versions that would probably cost you less (especially if you had a fellow forum member print it for you). 😉

I must not be properly communicating somehow. We're talking about translating a cartoon into something physical. Roadrunner can paint a tunnel on the side of a mountain and run through the painted tunnel, only for Wiley Coyote to faceplant into the rocks a moment later. That's how animation works, because it's not tangible. The real world doesn't work like that. Look at those hamfists and look at what your model Hasegawa gunpod looks like. You can't shove a basketball into a can of Pringles, but a cartoon character can. So if Hasegawa was to make their model with those big hamfists, they would not be able to reuse the same pre-existing tooling for the gunpod. They'd have to retool it to include a jibungous hole for it to put its big fat finger through. Like picking your nose with a baseball bat. You can't do that unless you're a cartoon. Notice that even Max Factory did not make the hands as big as the drawing's. I'm just saying that Hasegawa is going for more practical rather than stylized. Even then, compromises are still made. The wings on their Battroid are smaller than those on the Fighter. It's why transforming models/toys of these mecha will never be totally accurate in any one given configuration. The Valkyrie's jet engine nacelles suddenly get beefier and more rounded when in Battroid mode in the animation because they are drawn that way. Hasegawa chose not to go that route and instead made the legs more or less compatible with the corresponding parts of the Fighter mode. Look at how Shoji Kawamori designed Optimus Prime in the Transformers cartoon. Heck, any of the Transformers. The Autobots' tires get really small (or disappear entirely). Not because it's practical, but because they just kind of look cooler that way when animated.

Figured I save you some headache. I'd be more interested in a S2 if.... -
Is it wrong I'm SERIOUSLY considering forking over some $$$ for a sealed original Monogram 1/35 Starfighter model off Evilbay for a Christmas present to myself in honor of Gil??? Not many left out there, soooo wish a modern GOOD model company would make a new one!!!

Also a quick note! Although the instruction Manual for the X-ATH-P-RSC Bloodsucker doesn't mention it, The unit also has an A-hole to be able to be mounted on a stand...

According to the ARES's wiki Kosinski was an executive producer. I guess that was a poor investment, lol.

@BroTaku79 are you going to make a black version of the Roy Focker stand?

And all of them came from the minds of Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston. They should be on the Mt. Rushmore of SF Design, along with Syd Mead & Ron Cobb. -

Yes, the Hasegawa one cannot be posed very dynamically at all.

My Target had nada as far as new releases. I was surprised to find a few at my local Wally last night. Unfortunately, someone had already snagged Soundwave. Typical. TBH, I'm not over the moon with this new Soundwave, and lesser so with his new cassettes. Ravage was close to good, but they screwed it up by partsforming his tail and rockets. His neck is also more akin to a bulldog's than a lithe panther's. It's like he swallowed an oversized can of tuna and it got lodged in his throat. I'm inclined to think the Siege/Er condors look better in both modes. The only real improvement with the SS86 condors is the more accurate set of weapons and slightly more wing articulation. I can't believe they recycled the shitty Netfix/Siege toy's transformation rather than revisiting the OG G1 toy's superior schema, especially given all new tooling and a leader budget. Like, WTF Takara? Even the LEGO version got that right. Sheesh!- 17902 replies

Looks like it can hold the gunpod just fine, but to be fair it wasn’t shown holding one in the series. The other thing the hasegawa does is they have the big cheap toy looking chest and the Plamax definitely fixes that. Looks far better and way better action poses. The Hasegawa looks like it couldn’t walk without falling on its big ol boobs

Well, it's definitely on brand for the pilot. Gives it character, but I don't remember it. Had I seen it, it probably would have stayed with me, as it's almost a mech, especially if it could flap or fold its wings. Kinda reminds me of this gem from LEGO Chima, my favorite set out of the whole theme.

Thanks for the image! Interesting... the blue parts are labelled "want to use if possible" and the red parts are "not used parts". However, many of the red parts have "プロポーション優先": Prioritizing Proportions.
