I guess that’s why I go so into the vitruvian hacks figures and am excited for the new Battle Star Galactic figures. It’s easier to find space for really cool little dudes.- 1064 replies

Thanks. It’s going to be a fun one. Hail Satan! I can only listen to Merciful Fate while I build this one. lol Tonight I was able to get back to business on the KOG over the 7777. Got most parts painted tonight. Cockpit is dialed and just needs to dry before masking and final layer of gold tomorrow. Then it’s time for brush painting details throughout including some very cool pauldron scenes with angels ascending towards a gateway. Very tiny and two per pauldron. oh and I almost forgot. I got to spray that Gaia Star Bright Gold. I did two light coats and it came out really nice. Was thinking about a third but I’m happy with the two. Honestly I was just lazy and want to go to bed. The Final Warrior (最終戦士) Manga
totallyrobot replied to totallyrobot's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
From: https://esteban-d.blogspot.com/2019/08/los-anos-olvidados-de-studio-nue-parte-3_19.html "Furthermore, it appears that Grand Mark may also have had an effect on KO Group, as one of their products during this period was the amateur manga titled “Saishu Senshi” (“The Final Warrior”), which appeared immediately after the aforementioned NUE manga was completed. Created jointly by Hosono, Mikimoto, and Kawamori , this work consisted of a science fiction story featuring a spaceship that transformed into a robot, a space fortress, and a beautiful young woman whose design may be somewhat reminiscent of Matsumoto's enigmatic female characters . It seems that it was from this moment, if not earlier, that the theme of the transformable airplane into a robot emerged in Kawamori's mind, becoming an obsession for the young man for years, as we will see later. Surprisingly, all these elements present in Saishuu Senshi would be included five years later in the Macross series (the few images available of this work as a whole can also vaguely recall some characteristics of Gundam). The manga was created between June and November 1977 and had an approximate length of 80 to 90 pages . At the moment, we do not know how this amateur work circulated—whether it was a few copies, published as its own fanzine, or included as installments in a larger fanzine." Glad I found some more solid information, I guess all my questions are now answered thanks to this excellent Studio Nue research. -
The new one comes with this insert instead of the schematics. I'm thinking it'd be cool to combine this with the schematics from the other VF-0s and have it framed. Not entirely sure, but the plastic on the new one seems brighter white. I also checked the wings on both versions by placing them in front of my phone's flashlight and there's a difference. I don't know how to describe it but the effect of the bright light is different on each version's wings.

Since everything post-production has been basically done before, it would be nice to see some pre-prod items....like that vf-1d or a Breast Fighter or the early SDF-1 design So many opportunities for new things with the Macross flavor.

OMG. Time Rider, Time Bandits, and Buckaroo Banzai FTW! I lived on a Navy base back then. I would hound my older sisters endlessly until they took me to the Saturday matinee to watch whatever scifi/fantasy flick was playing. I loved those movies. I bet they won't stand the test of *time* for me, but you've inspired me to give them a shot this weekend. Many thanks, Lyle! -

TY! I could not agree more about figure sizes. I barely have space here in my 1000 sq. ft. house for my wife and me. I have to pick my battles, so to speak.- 1064 replies

They feel a little better than Star Wars black series figures, but I really don’t buy too many six inch ish figures. Personally I wish they’d do GI Joe figure more like the little Star Wars vintage line. It would work better for me for army building without worrying about space and they’re about the same height as 80’s GI Joe figures and don’t look as cheap as other small sized modern joes- 1064 replies

Preorders for SS86 Sunstreaker finally showed up here. But the comments on Hound several pages back made me rethink my preorder. So, I canceled Hound after preordering Sunstreaker. Aside from the weird looking feet and incomplete rear in jeep mode, the ultimate deal breaker for me is that panel at the back of the head. You would think that that would be something that should have been eliminated from modern toy engineering. I've been content with my Henkei Hound for the past 18 years, what's another 18... or whenever Hasbro or Takara admit that it's now entirely possible to miniaturize MP Hound.- 18177 replies

If it’s between those two, then definitely put fall ahead of the list. Woman of the Hour really wasn’t that great, kinda just ok. Not totally bad, but not good either

The thing is, even though it is obviously bad (very bad) it does not look quite cheap enough to have been a direct to DVD (er, videotape) release. Who am I kidding, Killer Klowns didn't look quite that cheap in adverts and it was direct to video.

Speaking of catching up... I watched Good Will Hunting on Youtube free movies for the first time, lol. Only saw parts of it but never sat through the whole film. For a film from 1997 it holds up well with Robin William acting that earned him an Oscar. How do you like them apples?!

I got the name. From the film Time Rider. -
Yeah, kinda feels like the writers were like, "what's the coolest stuff in action movies ever?!!!" And then, with their low budget and mediocre skills, they made this. 😄 I have zero recollection of this film having ever been advertised, nor do I recall ever coming across it at old VHS rentals back in the day. Pretty obscure I'm guessing.

While waiting in paint to dry I’m prepping another resin kit. This one’s a figure. It’s the Satan Commander from FSS. This is the definition of bootleg. The few OG casts that exist are as rare as seeing Bigfoot. Compared to the phantom one I just prepped this feels more like I assumed a garage kit would be like. It’s going to be a labor of love for sure. Lots of surface issues to deal with including broken bits and lots of holes from bubbles etc… This the the official art for the S.C. So you can get a better visual. I think it’s going to look amazing!

I don't buy too much GI Joe these days - not unless I see a deal on some ARAH 3 3/4" O-ring figures (and/or equipment) like I used to collect back in the day (i.e., I haven't given the new Super 7(?) O-ring figures a look). I've been hearing folks heap praise on the Classified line for a long time now. What's your take on the materials and build quality of the line? P.S., nice Ross discount!- 1064 replies

OMG, the 80s cheese! Thought that was Denise Crosby. Saw her in person at a convention here in Spokane years ago. She seemed very grounded and genuinely nice, relating anecdotes from her life and career. Her grandfather, Bing, was a notable alumnus here at Gonzaga University, and she talked about him a bit as well. Been meaning to watch Woman of the Hour and Fall popped up on the movie list recently. Gonna have to watch them. Saw Predator : Badlands the other night. Kinda prefer Prey or something more like Killer of Killers. I thought Prey was awesome, my second favorite Predator film next to the original. Predator 2 is third runner up.

Glad I got bored this morning and decided to check out forums I hadn't yet visited - because I've long wondered what the heck was going on with "anymoon.com" and "scorched earth toys." The origin of both still isn't clear, but I feel like the itch has finally been scratched. 🙂 -
I saw it in the theater, plus lots of other low-budget sci-fi flicks back then too. It looked heavily borrowed from The Terminator but actually it wasn't a total rip-off and was entertained by it. Good action film for its time.
