  2. See, the parts I'm thinking of are the irritating little aesthetic choices that actually have absolutely no impact on the transformation whatsoever. They're just shapes and details that Bandai looked at and decided, "No, we're doing something different." So.. as a fair warning, I'll spoiler it for folks who don't care to hear my rantings about little details. Just the TLDR though.. Bandai changed little aesthetic details that don't impact the transformation. Are these nit-picks? Absolutely. But there is no valid reason for why those details were changed in the first place. It's just Bandai deciding they know better, and I'm so tired of that attitude. As for the tampo, while I think it's obnoxious, for what it's worth, I can appreciate these markings more than the slop they threw on the YF-19 (at least these are symmetrical), but I still think they went overboard. What's sad? The worst part isn't even the added markings. The dingbats went and printed the UN emblem on the left wing cock-eyed. It is absolutely misaligned on every single picture I've seen of the YF-21, and that is just a bizarre level of incompetence on a product at this price point. I'm VERY tempted to just strip those off and put fresh decals on to fix it, since I think they're about the same size as the Yamato 1/60 VF-1 fast pack markings.
  3. I think it's the other way around. Only the thruster spines are actually common between the two 19s. Maybe the forearms, canards, roll pins, and some die cast bits that aren't too visible, but I can't even be sure. Everything else most definitely looks different and needs to be a new mold. The 171 is technically mostly just the 17, but in CG style... In lore, aside from the appendages bandai already did change, they put the gunpod outside the 171 and used the space to fit larger engines in the old legs. So bandai has lore justification for recycling 171 leg proportions on this. Of course, that doesn't mean they shouldn't have just gone with old animation proportionis over the 171 CG, and skimped out on the gunpod storage gimmick. Now it's a partsformer where the gun gets tossed out.
  4. 🤔 Yeah, it would work better as a farce or a parody wouldn't it? Literally all that's missing is the self-awareness that comes with a farce or parody and some canned laughter. Maybe the Xenomorph can end season two by whipping out a straw boater hat and cane and belting out a cover of "Hello, Ma Baby" like in Spaceballs...

I ran across so much hyperbolic non-sense looking around it was hard to discern who actually knew what. I figured after HLJ shipped my Andrew Garfield Spider-Man I'd get a clear picture. I straight asked them about the different charges. Brought up that AG Spider-Man was being charged 15% but the new Scarlet Spider was 30% and was told AG was made in Japan but SS wasn't... okay. So then I asked even if that were true why is it that the baseline charging for DHL more than doubled along with whatever that service charge was. I received a curt reply, they don't make those numbers... and that was it, no more responses. What Derex and vladykins quoted is precisely what I paid for AG. Now it would be nearly $100. So I have no clear picture. I know Big In Japan has offered to put down COO for the 19P as Japan, don't know what the baseline price is going to be anymore though, they haven't responded to me. In terms of shipping quality, for where I live in Albuquerque my preference in order is FedEx, DHL, UPS and USPS. FedEx and DHL are nearly identical, UPS has two stations with their own little fifedoms and it always takes 24-48 hours to ship between the two before they will deliver to my area of town. I've had multiple packages from USPS reach the substations five minutes from my house completely disappear. I was already primed to pay a lot more in shipping to avoid that constant headache.
  6. That’s great! Oh and post a photo of the Q-Rau once you finish it up.

  8. It is my opinion that Lucas and others are wrong about Star Wars being for kids. You can categorize movies for 3 audiences: kid friendly, family friendly and grownup friendly. Of the 3 only family friendly has something that will appeal to all audiences. With the other two categorizes only the named audience will enjoy their experience. Traditionally Star Wars has been family friendly. Later sequels and prequels introduced extended sequences that were specifically kid friendly. I guess you could call this Fan Service for Children. We usually see it in the form of cute and funny creatures and droids getting into cartoonish situations. This trailer is showing a lot of that.
  9. Thanks! The old 1:100 Imai Armored Valk is the first vintage kit I augmented with ball joints. I've learned how to do this through Japanese modeling magazines as well as Japanese YouTube modelers. My legacy Q-Rau kit is almost done... I just need to paint the pilot's eyes and I'll be done. That has ball joints for the hips, reinforced with brass tube for durability.

  11. actually I'm canceling my account. They're doing another pricing increase, plus some other reasons personal, and well, most of the stuff they have on their site I already own. And having a tighter budget, I just don't see a point. I'm sure if I don't see it, because it's a movie, it'll eventually come out on 4K or Bluray and could buy it or something. So either way I'm not worried, there's always a way. I know, but it's what he says, and it's what he's told cast in the past. I mean I felt more excited watching it as a kid than I did as an adult.

  13. If not referencing transformation and proportions... which parts (no need to list all), like the extensive panel lining detail and excessive tampo? The way the underbelly splits into sections? The shelf like feature towards the rear of the fighter mode? I'm curious because the YF-21's design was based on so much anime magic, things were probably going to be redesigned. This is Bandai we're talking about, lol... Looking at the earlier pics (from the beginning of this thread, first 1-3 pages) a few sections were changed on the colored prototype. One section I noticed was the center fuselage (battroid hood section rearwards where bandai included an airbrake) is wider and more rounder than what was sold for production (more of a pronounced peak/less round, narrow/tapered, sharper). On the back of the forearms, detail was added and opening/nook was created for the (fighter mode) forward beam cannons. According to the (then) twitter post that it was the 3rd prototype which was shown. The uncolored prototype which appeared in HJweb was from Dec 2023 which reflects more with the final production version. I thought there were older prototype pics prior to 2019 but I couldn't find them when I searched. I'm sure Bandai had input/oversight (milestone meetings) from/with Kawamori. One of the posts mentioned Tenjin was at one of the meetings as well. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t put that evil on us! Especially when there’s a perfectly promising TV style prototype just collecting dust somewhere.
  15. yes, i will wait for Amazon clearance for this one... Bandai with Frontier and Delta series had good original toys designs that were created together alongside the new show from ground up to market. Good or bad, those designs were original as they were created with the anime. -designing toys retroactively for past anime, Bandai steals the majority of the designs improvements of the VF-19 and VF-1 off Arcadia's engineering revisions. -(19's sweep wings, everything off the VF-1 ver. 2 ) VF-0D's hi-metals. Bandai seems decent at copying and making it a bit better. -the Dx YF-21 didn't really have a revision to steal from and came out a mixed bag. I guarantee Arcadia, if they are still alive and had a budget, would do a much better revision of the YF-21. M7 is pretty much looks like a Redeco line up. TF generation 2 toys. Minor alterations to the 19 to make a fire valk. and the laziest Redeco, slap on a new head and some arms on a 171. WTF Bandai... this is a frontier valk. At least the isamu YF-19 was a closer cousin to the VF-19. the 171 is not even close to a VF- 17. Bandai should make a DX SDF-1 out of the Macross Quarter
  16. What's disappointing about the 1/28 scale is with all this talk about Robotech/Mospeada lore with the included sword for the dream episode. There is not one container of "protoculture energy" canister attachment to insert. We just see the openings. they don't have any place for it but we got a dumb sword... The coolest part of the show was the heist of the energy cells via balloons during yellow's concert. I want some balloon attachments and energy cans to trade with Jonathan Wolf.
  17. Oh no, Tate No yuusha is getting a fifth season. I loved the 4th. But the preview at the end for s5 is filling me with sadness. Poor Naofumi covered in blood after
  18. Well, most of the fights involved Stig/Stick firing every damn missile and/or RPG at his disposal.

They're probably fine for main city areas and delivery hubs, but I'm in an oddly remote area that has absolutely no support from DHL directly. Anything I get from them doesn't even come from them, it gets delivered to Bakersfield, and then shipped through a secondary third-party delivery service that neither communicates with nor associates in any way with the official DHL customer account system. I am just completely SOL trying to track down any delivery dates or requests for any re-delivery or hold requests. FedEx and UPS? Absolutely fine. DHL? Just a giant pile of nope out here.
  20. I have a few complaints about Mospeada but one of the bigger ones is the flight choreography... The battles just aren't exciting.
  21. All aspects of the transformation and proportions aside, I feel like they absolutely went off the rails though. While they're not what most people would call "significant" departures, there is a rather large pile of details on the original design that they just completely ignored, or purposefully redesigned for no explicable reason. The worst part of this is that some of these were correct on early prototype pics, and Bandai later changed them specifically to be contrary to every piece of reference material, animated, drawn, rendered, or otherwise. They just looked that the art, flipped it off, and did their own thing.
  22. I wouldn't mind them moving back to the 1/35 prototype and leaving this line as it is.
  23. Well, like I said, MPG-19 is Soundwave, but it's just a repaint of MP-13. But I'm hearing that MPG-20 is a brand new mold for Hot Rod, and @sh9000 already mentioned that MPG-21 is Blaster. Working back from 19, 18 is Roadhauler ( a green repaint of Inferno), 17 is Style-Gen Optimus Prime, and 16 is the black Nucleon Quest repaint of Super Ginrai, so that's all G1 or G1-adjacent. The problem is, as @Scyla noted, the old MP line evolved a bit from more realistic robots to slavishly Sunbow, but that evolution was gradual and part of a pretty consistent design language and scale. MPG is pretty much anything Takara thinks is a more high-end toy, giving it a more scattershot lineup where you have to pay attention and cherry pick what you actually want.
  24. There's a bunch of stuff in the OT that was definitely not "for kids." George was always full of crap about that.
  25. Didn't need a new trailer as I was gonna see it anyways, lol.
  26. FYI, Hasbro decided to quit Pulsecon, and I expect the Pulsecon exclusives like Armada Nemesis Prime will turn up here.
