  2. Current project: Making the 1992 Kenner "batmissile" Batmobile into the 1989 version. Using this one for the correct length and (mostly) accurate proportions. Stay tuned...
  3. That looks cool. I’m a sucker for the good old shark mouth on aircraft.
  4. I think if they did delve into his history, it could work. As mentioned, he has the whole backstory of being a child soldier with a lost past. Make a story of him trying to find where he came from, have him encounter other troopers, mainly those who did not turn against the Imperial Remnant (First Order) and with the afro chick and Lando along for the ride. Make sure the scripts were more dramatic than funny and I think it could work.

  6. Honestly? In my opinion, any potential Finn might have had as a character was squandered by The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. He didn't have a lot to do in The Force Awakens aside from being Rey and Han's comic relief sidekick. The film did briefly tease that he might have the force potential to become a Jedi in later installments, but that was ultimately dropped. His subplot in The Last Jedi was one of the most heavily criticized parts of the movie and I think that was ultimately what got him demoted to almost an advertised extra in The Rise of Skywalker (alongside Disney's worries about the box office take in China). None of the main characters in the sequel trilogy are what I'd call well-developed, but I feel like Finn was the one who had it the worst by a significant margin. He's basically only ever a sidekick. First to Poe, then Rey, then Han, then Poe again, then Rose, and finally back to Rey. He gets Worf'd so Rey can look good, he sets up catchphrases for Poe, etc. He doesn't ever really get to be his own man... which I find disappointing because he was set up to have a much more interesting character arc than Rey (the Chosen Mary Sue) or Poe Dameron (cocky Ace Pilot rogue) given that he was a defector from the First Order. All of that said, I feel like at this point characters and set pieces from the sequel trilogy are water from a poisoned well. He didn't have enough of an arc for there to be any sense of direction to his character that might drive an original series centered on him. If anything, he might get to come back as a minor character in some far future story where we'll learn that he's serving as a general in the Defiance as they fight the Second Order on the New New Republic's behalf because it can't be arsed. Other than that, he's probably going to be strictly an EU novels character.
  7. I got some money for my birthday, went to a casino, got promotional cash for it being my birthday, and ended up winning some money, enough to order the Hi Metal R VF-2SS reissue and will now have it to go along with the kickstarter UHD copy of Macross II, whenever that releases! Quite the year for Macross II lovers! Twich
  8. New on the bench!
  9. Oh yeah baby! I’m excited to get this primed and painted. Had picked this kit up at a huge discount form Newtype last year. 1/144 Engage SR3 Late Junone FSS
  10. I think Boyega is strong enough to do a show, but his character was weakened a bit too much. Although I guess that since he didn’t end up with lil miss Skywalker that they could try and do something a bit more detached with him and Rose. But that involves using one of the more hated characters. Personally, I think they should just move ahead without using any established characters in a new adventure that doesn’t rely so much on cameos, but gets the narrative moving beyond the Rey era. Basically just leave the past in the past and give us a new beginning
  11. Do you think there's any potential for Finn to get his own miniseries? I think there's some storytelling potential there, and the comedy could work in his favor, allowing for some lighthearted adventures (just keep the Jedi out of the story along with Dave Filoni!!). The one counterpoint I can think of though is that Boyega may not have the gravitas/ ability to carry a miniseries as a main character, and that Finn might not be persuasive/ interesting enough a character. Your thoughts?
  12. Going to be taking a look at May I Ask for One Final Thing? https://www.crunchyroll.com/series/GW4HM7WQ5/may-i-ask-for-one-final-thing?srsltid=AfmBOorFGrSeWqs_grsG6MRShgOGdT340dPlESdqAv9RYyo07sEs9sRg Looks to be at least moderately interesting, although with the premise, I suspect it'll get stale pretty fast.
  13. The intra-Japan shipping is 100% dependent on the seller source. YJ is almost always buyer pays intra japan from the seller to the buyee warehouse. Mercari on the other hand, is the opposite. Almost all the products on there are intra-japan shipping included. Perhaps there is a smaller fee for placing your item on Mercari vs YJ, or they incentivize them in some other way, but that is the pattern I've seen over the years.
  14. If it were a Blazer VF-19S/F, then a strong maybe, but a Kai... hard pass.
  15. First look at Brawl's leg mode. I'm not loving it... I prefer the toy look in combined mode, so a tank with the front noticeably folded over and a silver foot. But it is sort of cartoon accurate, especially when you consider that Onslaught's frame will form the rest of the leg. Speaking of Onslaught... Prototype looking way better than Combiner Wars, eh? And they're going the Warbotron/Iron Factory route, Onslaught himself is forming the cab of the truck, the combiner bits are forming a trailer that can double as a gun emplacement. Sadly, it doesn't look like they're showing off the whole combined mode/frame. Looks to me like Bruticus' chest is folded into the the waist, with the backpack guns folded down over them, and Bruticus' thighs are folded backward. Then the flatbed portion of the trailer behind the guns is the back of Bruticus' leg and bottom of his feet, but the stuff under it with the rear wheels is his arms. And, last but not least (well, yeah, probably least for most of you) is the other Japan-themed Timelines back. Once again, since set 1 was Prime and Starscream, set two is Megatron and Bumblebee, as a boar and a flying squirrel, respecitively.

  17. As of this posting, it seems this DX Fire Valk is being heavily discounted to even lower than 22k-yen by 3rd-party sellers at amzn.jp, but only if you are a jp resident: As such and as of this posting time, amz-jp is selling it for 26.644y plus shipping-fees: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0F62BC2MB here's the breakdown if I wanted to import it... Around US$257 at current exchange-rate shipped. I'm still not pulling the trigger on this DX Kai even at that shipped pricing, tho...
  18. I still find it weird this is happening on a Sony console, but here we are:
  19. I’d be more interested if this were in a smaller scale. There’s a lot of close to six inch versions out there already
  20. Yeah, I’ve said in the 1/18th thread that these are way overpriced for what you get. The wheel on the front of the bikes don’t even roll. They’re simple no detail add ons to a small low detail figure. I still think the figure should be ten and maybe as a bike and figure set something like twenty to twenty five. I think they look cool, but not at the asking price
  21. I thought you had to pay shipping from the seller to Buyee’s warehouse and then another shipping charge from Buyee to you, along with Buyee’s service fees. Shipping to the U.S. wouldn’t be so bad if DHL wasn’t the only option available on most of the site I shop from. Their processing fee on top of the tariff is overkill. I’ve seen the processing fee be double the actual tariff amount.
  22. And yet this is what they came up with. At that price. They're like a third of the way through the funding period, and they've got barely over 1000 of the 10,000 backers they need. I think it's way overpriced... if these were retail figures, it'd be, what, $20 a pop for 3.75" figures, and say $40 per lightcycle (a bit high, but prices I might be willing to pay, for Flynn, Tron, Sark, and the lightcycles, but to heck with Yori and generic badguy program). That's only about $180. I definitely don't need a light-up base for $80 more. Again, I'd have rather they had an actual Tron toyline with stuff from all three films... they I might get Sam, Quora, Ares, Athena, and Eve, a Legacy and Ares Lightcycle, one of those jet things Athena was flying around in, and some Recognizers.
  23. Thing a thong! (pronounced as if one has a lisp when saying this)
  24. Watched it opening night in 3D. Yes I miss the OG actors and Legacy actors. Not a fan of what they did to them, but it was a watchable movie. I had the soundtrack a week before the movie came out.
  25. I could go resurrect a YJ thread from 2024 in the where to buy section or just post it here and be done..so quick and dirty. This will be my one and only 'where to buy' post to not pollute things too much https://buyee.jp/item/jdirectitems/auction/j1204987775 sign up for the buyee proxy, pull the trigger on a buy it now or use mercari (through buyee) there is even a 10% coupon right now https://buyee.jp/mercari/search?keyword=DX超合金 マクロス7 VF-19改&status=on_sale This one is $154 shipped to buyee with the 10% off, then you just need to get it shipped intl which is about $50, plus the awesome 15% tariff...sorry no getting around that if you are in the US
  26. Looking at these pics now, the DX is like the PF Arcadia Kai we never got.
  27. Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota is cute, but doesn't really seem to be going anywhere story-wise... which is a bit disappointing. The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess feels like it's determined to take at least one shot at every overused otome character trope and plot device. It's a bit predictable in that regard, though it definitely lands (mostly) in affectionate parody territory.
