Yeah. I just held the piece and stuffing in my off hand and sprayed. Went lightly at first and finding a sweet spot for paint flow will just happen. Smaller bursts of paint were most effective for my attempts. Soooo simple. I found that after the stuffing was used a bit the effect was better since there were some more defined pathways for the paint to penetrate. Does that make sense? The whole process was inspired by folks spraying through dried up distressed baby wipes to create marble effects I didn’t want marble but used a similar method. I didn’t have baby wipes so used stuffing as a filter Next time I will make sure to put on gloves. Hahaha. Well as far as weathering I absolutely loved the Ostrich you shared on here. That had such an amazing surface treatment and required quite the process if I remember.
-
Yup, my stuff is still there as well. Including that tv Queadluun Rau beauty
-
That looks amazing @Papa Rat!!! I remember spending all this time in my youth trying to get a perfect flat smooth coat of paint and now we are seeing all these amazing weathering effects of paint fading and textures to liven up flat areas of colour - what a turnaround! So you airbrushed through the stuffing? Did you hold the stuffing or lay it on the surface to shoot through?

Thanks. I’ll try and take a pic of what I used but it’s so straightforward…stretch poly fill across surface and spray then repeat. It’s not some sort of witchcraft. Ok a little black magic maybe. Lol I’m so pumped for you getting some items shipped out too. I need to do the same since I imagine my free PW time is running out. Ugh. Maybe my wife ships it out for me for my bday gift? Hmmmmm. Scheming. How’s the ship? Also how’s the tank coming? 👀

I think everybody's everything has been sitting in the HLJ warehouse for months now........LMAO... unfortunately, I'm gonna have to ship my Hasegawa Glaug and TV-Q-Rau models this weekend as my free time is up.... LOVE that mottling effect @Papa Rat! Definitely wanna try that on the TV Qau!

While I’m still not a fan of live action Cowboy Bebop, it had something that the newer gundam stuff was lacking. That was that the characters were somewhat likeable for the most part. The story was a total mess, but then so was the story for the newer seed. But I just don’t like the characters in those or witch from mercury. A show or movie can have the greatest writing ever, but if I don’t like the characters, then I won’t find the project watchable. The thing this Gundam project may have going for it is that it may not be adapting a Gundam story that we’ve already seen. We may not have to worry about a plot getting ruined or a character getting destroyed. It may not even be a U.C. Or other established universe story

Huh... I'm not sure what to make of a pronouncement like that. Granted, G-Witch and SEED Freedom were some weak sh*t in the writing department with the latter's story being entirely unnecessary but they were still light years ahead of the torrent of optical diarrhea that was Netflix's bastardization of Cowboy Bebop. Their stories were at least functional. Western attempts to adapt anime tend to miss the point of the original story with distressing thoroughness. Just asking... but is your day job to greet people who solve a cursed puzzle box? I guess statistically speaking someone had to like it. Most folks considered it to be distilled disgust, and the very picture of sh*tting on a classic for no real reason.

I liked the live action Cowboy Bebop , personally. But ya, live action adaptations don't usually fare well. Nevertheless, I'm willing to have an open mind and see for myself how this turns out.

Knowing myself I will probably pick this up very much later down the road, purely for novelty or completist reasons. If Bandai wants to continue the Macross 7 line they should focus on making the rest of HMR Soundforce they showed so prominently some years ago. I’m ok if they skip more DX Mac 7 for HMR versions.
-
Ok, I actually didn’t care too much for the live action Cowboy Bebop, but it was overall more watchable than the new Gundam seed stuff or witch from mercury. Not saying Cowboy Bebop is a win or anything, just more watchable.

Another highly questionable hiring decision from this project. Honestly, it's starting to feel like Netflix is trying to fail with these live-action anime adaptations. His filmography is far from confidence-inducing... he seems to have been somewhat typecast as "ethnic drug dealer" given that his main acting credit of note is playing a cartel member named "Nacho" in Better Call Saul and he was fired from a starring role as another drug-dealer character in an Apple+ original crime drama called Dope Thief for getting into a fistfight with another actor. >Gundam >Do something original with it 🤣 It's Gundam, the odds of encountering original thought are close to zero unless this ends up being one of those in-name-only adaptations like the last Silent Hill, the new Resident Evil movie, etc. Look back at Netflix's Cowboy Bebop and tell me that's going to be a challenge. I dare you.

Hey, at least it's a solid source of spare parts to rebuild some shattered 171s. Being entirely honest, I'm not a big enough VF-17 fan to be as spectacularly disappointed as many here. It is what it is, and I don't mind having a slim 17 to match the other 171s from a "mechanically feasible" point of view. As iconic as it all is, the scale shown in the Macross7 animation is completely nonsensical. I'm mostly sad that I probably could have had a couple for much cheaper if I waited. What will make me more sad is if Bandai continues to misinterpret their terrible decisions as lack of customer interest, and they just nix their entire 7 line before we get the other VF-19s. Though on the other hand, maybe that will convince them to finally go back to products that will sell, and we'll get more VF-1s. It might not be all bad.

Very cool build

Thanks Thom. I have been wanting to try out new ways of adding some effects to plain surfaces and thought this build would be a great opportunity to try it out. A bio mechanical design seems perfect for this sort of thing. Inspired by how a bugs shell looks or subtle speckled effects in a salamanders skin.

That's a nice looking effect @Papa Rat.
