I wasn’t too surprised after the thought of them milking the mold set in. They did pretty much every variant of the regult other than color changes and after thinking about the fact they pumped out four of those and a bunch of armored Valkyries I figured tv version of the Queadluun Rau was soon. As far as panel lines, if you’re gonna do that, I’d suggest doing it in test first. Maybe on some rounded plastic spoons and really get that practice in. A lot of surfaces here are gonna be rounded rather than flat, so a cheap spoon should be a good sacrifice for practice

Me: I love a good "white Optimus" Ultra Magnus... too bad the only one Hasbro gave us is the one that makes up the core of Earthrise Ultra Magnus. And at least that was Earthrise... I don't think we've had a Nemesis Prime since Siege! Hasbro: Ok... we'll repaint that toy-style Deluxe Optimus as Magnus, and we'll pack him with a Nemesis repaint of Animated Optimus. As a Target exclusive with two other guys. Me, looking at SS86 Optimus: "Not exactly what I had in mind..." Some guy in China, whispering: "Oh, I got you, bro..." I'll be honest, I have no idea who's making these. They come in a plain brown box with "MD-005" A, B, and C written on it, with check boxes that ostensibly should indicate what variant is inside but none of which were checked on either of the copies I got. As you can see, they're knock-offs of SS86 Optimus, but in Ultra Magnus white and Nemesis black. Note that Shattered Glass purple also exists, as well as regular red-and-blue Optimus. I haven't decided if I want the SG version or not, and the regular Optimus version is sold out at my usual stores. Now, again, this is MD-005. There's another KO going around as AS-08. By all reports, AS-08 is an inferior KO that's uses shoddy materials. MD-005 does seem to use a different plastic than the official figure, but it's solid and feels good in the hands. The joints are all solid, some tighter than the official figure. In short, MD-005 feels like a quality figure. These two versions (and the SG version) come with the rifle, Matrix, axe, and blast effects that SS86 Optimus came with, but not the trailer, repair drone, Roller, or the other effect parts. Instead, they come with some alternate heads, a battle damage part, and some filler for the truck mode. Regular Optimus comes with even more stuff, which I'll bring up if I can manage to get my hands on one. The heads are probably the most interesting bit. A lot of people seemed to not like the original SS86 head (left), though I thought it was fine. But here you also get a season 1 head (middle) and 86 movie head (right), plus a battle damaged version of the movie head. Personally I kinda like the SS86 head on Magnus, but the movie head for Nemesis. Swapping them is as simple as yanking one head off the ball joint and popping another one on. There's a notch in the panels on the sides you have to flip up when you spin the upper body for transformation. The battle damage part takes advantage of that by using a small tab to plug into it. Undoubtedly this part was created for the regular version of Prime, to recreate his iconic wound from his battle with Megatron, and whoever's making these figured they already had the part might as well stuff it in with all the colors. As a (nearly) 1:1 copy of SS86, the transformation is the same. They did replace the plastic wheels with rubber tires, though. I didn't test the Season 1 head, but the movie head transforms just fine. Which brings me to that last filler piece. It's filler for the back of the cab, designed to look like an AC unit. One side is flat, the other sloped, so you'll know which way it fits in. And it just wedges in place, it doesn't tab or lock in. It's a nice idea, and I don't even mind partsforming it, but there's no place to store it on the robot mode, so I doubt I'll ever really use them. At roughly $40, these are high-quality figures that deliver the repaints that Hasbro can't/won't. The extra heads are an especially nice touch. My only real complaint is that I wish they painted the tops of their crotches, the way the official figure did. If you're a fan of Magnus, SG Optimus, or Nemesis (@Scyla) then I can comfortably recommend them. Heck, I'd be in for Delta Magnus, Shining Magnus, or Pepsi Optimus repaints, too.- 9364 replies

Nothing yet: the fair starts Thursday, so I won't know until then. I had to delete my earlier reply; I suffered a seizure last night that mostly took me offline, and my answer on here was nearly unintelligible. On another note: did this micro-diorama using one of the 1/72 NASA Shuttle astronauts and some mat board: It's supposed to represent this photo, but I miscalculated on the earth's curvature :

Agreed. Would of been very nice to get the more detailed line art version but I understand why they went cheaper. I'm still shocked they did the TV version at all considering it did require new molds and I don't think they can do any variations like they did with the movie version. Maybe they do a generic version that is all green? Besides, this will give me a good reason to try and cut in my own panel lines. Going to need to practice first.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - May 22, 2026
Seto Kaiba replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You're not wrong... I'm just saying it's not the character's fault. 😜 Of course Favreau and Filoni bent over backwards to make Bo-Katan Kryze look good in The Mandalorian even at the expense of the show's own protagonist. Why? Because Bo-Katan Kryze is one of Dave Filoni's OCs from The Clone Wars. Same as season two's scene stealer Badass-By-Creator-Fiat Ahsoka Tano. Din stealing the show in The Book of Boba Fett is more a problem of Boba being incredibly badly written and boring. He's a bounty hunter who doesn't do any bounty hunting, a crime lord who does no crime, a ruler who doesn't actually rule anything, a clueless schmuck, and a Fake Mandalorian to boot.- 75 replies

Ok, now I'm getting excited for this! I totally had forgot about pre-ordering it!
-
Plus, the stance is less 'cutsey-anime girl.' She may have been in an anime, but she was never a 'cutesly anime-girl!' Keep that firm, purposeful stance.
-
Yeh, I finally caved in and pre-ordered the TV QRau. It's my favorite Zent Armor. Also put the GLAUG in my private warehouse from HLJ. Guess I'll eventually pay a jillion dollars to have them both shipped once the QRau drops.

The latest max release (tentatively tomorrow) has box art which I assumed to be Mercy Rabbit like the recent ones, but this one is 'Naochika Morishita' Have they done any other Macross products?

Yeah, I think this made up my mind. I want the dress uniform rather than the pilot suit

Sorry, I just feel like she ended up part of the problem, kinda like how Mando stole bobas thunder in his show. Bo just kept having to rescue mr shiny in season 3 making him a bit of a Disney princess most of the show- 75 replies

I keep hoping for a really great modern Superman movie, but I might not be alive to see it happen. All they really need to do is just give it some heart, not too much comedy and not making depressing. And it would unfortunately need a total reboot. I wouldn’t even mind a retro type of movie taking place back around when the comic originally started. Maybe they could do something like the Batman where it doesn’t connect to the main dc movie universe. It really doesn’t need much to be awesome

CVT is a great idea, and like anything, it has to be built right. My only problem with them is that they're often programmed counter to it's design philosophy; It's supposed to allow your engine to run smoothly at it's peak efficiency without major changes in RPM for the given conditions, but it's often programmed to meet human expectations by making it sound like it's shifting which is not ideal for a CVT to be jumping the belt back and forth across the cones. As a manual loving car guy, I actually loved my Ford CMax which had a smoothly programmed CVT in it. I leased it tho and would NEVER own one, although I know plenty of people at my workplace who've had theirs for years now. Chevy did what is imho the best hybrid implementation on the Volt; You need to make the engine a generator and drive the car on electric alone, not as a assist stuck between the engine and wheels. I always hated how the CMax would turn the COLD engine on when it needed power and rev it to the max to get it. But, if you kept the battery charged up, it hardly ever used it in city driving. I had the person at the service desk AT THE DEALER chastise me for not changing my oil at 4k mi. I'm like the engine never runs. Once a year is fine and even at that I was changing it MORE often than recommended. Funny story with that car... My wife, I, and our 1yr old toddler just starting to walk were going up north to spend time at Lake Wazee and decided to take the "back roads." The car handled the roads like a champ, and I was always impressed with it's handling. Within a few miles of the lake, my options were to get on the highway and take the normal route in, but I saw all these smaller roads leading into the area and decided to cross the highway keeping on the road I was already going down. THEN IT STARTED TO POUR RAIN! Seemed like a nicely paved road at first, but then the lines went away. Ok, but still a nice paved road. Then the road started to narrow until the point where I didn't feel safe attempting to turn back because I was obviously going to get stuck if one tire went off the pavement in this low slung car with like 3" of clearance. It was still paved tho, so we kept going. Then the pavement slowly faded into hard packed tarred gravel. Then hard gravel... then sandy, muddy gravel... and before I know it, I'm doing my absolute damnedest to keep my speed up and my car out of and on top of the muddy, sandy ruts with the traction control constantly cutting power until I found a panicked moment to jam my finger at the traction button. I made it through a mile of this, down a muddy valley and finally up a sandy hill to crest back onto the safety of a paved road again. PHEW! Then around the next corner... mother nature said NO! Road was flooded out about 3' deep. F*&^!!! Now I have to drive BACK THROUGH all that mud again! And it ain't getting dryer cuz it's still pouring down rain! And I have no idea where to tell a tow truck to get me even if they WOULD. But by some miracle we made it. Then my kid went to get out of the car at the lake and promptly landed flat on her face on the pavement. Poor kid had a scratched up face, but she was ok. Then the sun came out, we enjoyed the rest of the day, and TOOK THE HIGHWAY HOME!!! Afterwards the car's suspension started making a clunk sound of a broken front sway bar link, so I took it to the dealer fully expecting them to say that it wasn't covered under warranty because I obviously took it off roading, but to my surprise, they covered it!

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - May 22, 2026
Seto Kaiba replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You misspelled "Dave Filoni" there. 😜 Don't go puttin' that evil on the character when it's the writers and creative director who can't go two minutes without forcing at least one callback to The Clone Wars into the story. Hell, they even brought back Jabba's chronically flatulent kid from The Clone Wars for an apparently significant role in the movie. (I can only describe him like that because chronic flatulence was literally his only character trait.)- 75 replies

Thanks @pengbuzz and @MechTech. I am still not over it! Started Sat night, kicked me in the beep-boop all Sunday and most of Monday, so even if the show had been more than one day, I still couldn't have gone. And of course, the day for my doctor's appointment is the day it finally starts to lighten up. (head shake) Thankfully I only had to call off one day of work, as Sunday I had already taken as a vacation day for the show and Tue/Wed are my 'weekend.' Fingers crossed this is on the way out, cause I am over it!
