I kinda dropped out of TF collecting during the G2 era, and while I was back in the US for the latter part of G2, I didn't really become interested again until some of the small ball-jointed jets started appearing (the Cyberjets). I bought the orange-tiger-striped F-14ish one, but I've always wished I could have gotten the black F-117. Anyway, Beast Wars was what pulled me back into TF collecting- just a different direction, something new, and the level of articulation astounded me (bots with hip and knee joints!!!!). I laugh now in hindsight, as they were still pretty limited, but frame of reference is everything. While my druthers would be for vehicle/inanimate object alt modes, or robotic animals like the Dinobots, the show sucked me in and I became a fan. All this is to say that G2 doesn't really register on my radar as my interest had waned and, yeah, so far as I can remember, the toys at the time didn't appeal to me all that much. I honestly have very little recollection of the early 90s so far as Transformers goes. Those little jets are the things that stick out to me more than anything. Imagine that.😉- 17813 replies

It's a shame, too. I'm imagining a hot pink Snarl and Jazz's Doritos color would cook on Slag.- 17813 replies

Interesting, I didn’t know that but it makes a lot of sense. It is sad that there is no cohesive set of G2 Dinobots available as it seems there are no garishly colored versions of Snarl and Slag.- 17813 replies

Hmmmmm, I dunno. As the resident G2 collector here lol, this is a big maybe. I don't really care for the look all that much, and they I don't think Swoop nor Sludge ever showed up in the comic book let alone on shelves. I believe the only figures the Dinobots released were Slag, Snarl and Grimlock. I admit I'm not that big of a fan of their colors either, namely Swoop....that's god awful and he's got a different headsculpt I'm guessing more from his original toy sculpt than animation I dunno, I didn't own G1 dinobots. I ran into the latest 06 Parrell Universe wave of the Blokee figures, figured may as well pick one up and it was fairly heavy! Opened it up and it's IDW Autobot Megatron.....not one of my favorite iterations of the character cause he's kind of a sellout variant in my opinion. But he's really good sized, lots of details, and some neat blast effects. But was honestly looking more for anyone else but him, Optimus or SG Ratchet.- 17813 replies

Because that's essentially the case. When G2 launched (very late '92 and ’93) changes from G1 were pretty minimal. Make Prime's trailer black, use metallic paint on some mini bots, flip Sideswipe's colors, release Jazz in normal colors but change the stickers, etc. Blue Grimlock and the red and green Snarl and Slag are from that '93 wave (after releasing in their G1 colors in '92). I feel like the more garish colors started to appear in '94, when they started releasing the G2 versions of the Scramble City combiners (along with more original molds like the Laser Rods). The G2 colors for Sludge and Swoop, as well as yellow Grimlock, are based on concept art for toys that were planned for ’94 or '95 but never released. FWIW, I always liked yellow Grimlock better than the blue one. That concept art is also where we got delightfully hideous stuff like Doritos Jazz and Watermelon Mirage from that Walmart-exclusive G2 collection a few years back, BTW.- 17813 replies

I know it's a very tiny detail but i just noticed that all the three armors have the same number, i.e. 1, on the chest. That bothers me. A lot.

The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post
nightmareB4macross replied to Shawn's topic in Model kits
Looks nice, but seems a tad short. I think Sculpts from MLZ22 nailed the scale and perspective of their size. -
I think for the most part the Bandai version will prevail worldwide. Toynami’s version might have equal share of sales in U.S.

This is very interesting that we're seemingly getting two reissues / recreations with improvements. I wonder how comparable they'll be in price and if one will cannibalize the other.

From May'n : Galaxy Live in Shanghai Wow! I've just cried Music will save the World. A magical miraculous life that transcends cultures, borders and words to become one! Will talk more on Sheryl's B-Day (23rd Nov) Macross F is the best! Macross is the best! Note: After the concert, she went back to the dressing room and found the quartz crystal is missing from the ear ring! Did someone took it? Or her voice is too powerful and sent the crystal to Alto? From 2 rings to one and now the crystal is gone. Wow, the ear rings have taken a beating! XD

Very nice Valkyrie! Have not transform him yet. Just admiring the sleek fighter mode in nice red fire. I don’t like Arcadia glossy red. My only complain is the gap at the middle. And it’s loose no locking mechanism.

I never liked these colors for G2 Swoop and Sludge. The other G2 Dinobots are a muted green, blue and red. These are too bright and gaudy and look out of place with the other three. These would go well with the tiger stripe Grimlock. I don’t say the colors are bad looking, just that they don’t look like a cohesive group.- 17813 replies

Ugh, the gaudy color schemes are the biggest turn off for me concerning G2. I'm happy with my G1 versions. Cool for those who like G2, though.- 17813 replies
