My parents, both in their sixties, who are boring as hell and watch Price is Right, Andy Griffith, and Sons of Anarchy over and over binged the entire season and absolutely loved. Not only do they have no knowledge of the games, they have no gaming knowledge to speak of at all, they went in completely unaware of anything they were about to watch, and they both absolutely loved it and wanted more episodes when it ended.

It doesn't hurt that they love Walton Goggins, everybody does, but they loved everything about the show, all the characters, the world, the sound and aesthetic. This series is a total win for Amazon, fans of the games love it, and it's accessible enough for non-gamers, even boring old people, to get in to.

Definitely a great show, I’m a little surprised though about the level of brutality that your parents could handle. My mom absolutely will not watch anything with a lot of gore. Unfortunately my father passed away when I was much younger, but he was the one that took me to see Robocop in the theater back when I was only nine or ten. I don’t think he quite knew what we were getting into and I sure was in for a bit of a shocker since that was a game changer as far as acceptable violence in a non horror movie. I think he might’ve been ok with Fallout, but my mom would never give this show a try. She’s definitely more old fashioned and may get a kick out of the flashbacks, but that’s about it

@Seto Kaiba The times you end up liking a series when going in with zero expectations vs the times you end up getting disappointed truly skews towards the dissapointment range, so your skepticism is understandable [...]

Yeah, I do seem to skew heavily towards "disappointed" in a lot of the streaming originals don't I?

I've thought about that a lot, and while I know my own eccentric tastes are probably a part of I also feel like a common thread in a lot of the ones I've found disappointing has been a "style over substance" approach to showrunning. A lot of these new shows sink most of their time, effort, and money into making a series visually spectacular without taking the time and care to make sure it's narratively spectacular too.  As someone who's more engaged by compelling characters and a well-composed narrative than pure eye candy, that's become a deal breaker for me on several titles.

I wouldn’t worry about that at all. Pretty much everything gets some explanation with a few things that feel like they will be least for the next season.little things happen here and there and it’s like little revelations surrounded by extreme violence.

As long as it makes internal sense... though it definitely feels like it's counting on shock value to carry it in quite a few places, both in the violence and the humor.

The second episode is certainly atmospheric.  Hasn't really done much to explain things, but there's a definite sense of direction to proceedings by the end of it.

Lot to love there, New Vegas is easily the best of the Bethesda Fallouts, even though it's made by Obsidian lol. Best story, best mechanics and gameplay, best player choice and build options, best characters and companions, New Vegas is simply peak. Caesar's Legion, Rad Scorpions, more VATS, Deathclaws, Mr House, I think I saw some action in Novac, one of the starter towns, I'm hyped, December can't come soon enough.

My kids played it over and over again.  My PC was on the other side of the basement and I remember hearing some old western tunes OVER and OVER again.  Also something about a creature on the bunny slope...

Walter Goggins is my new favorite actor.

WALTON Goggins, weird name, but agreed. He's almost always my favorite character in everything he's in, Gemstones, Vice Prinicipals, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, the man is just a phenomenal talent all around, comedy or drama.

It’s like he got a last name for a first name and a nickname for a last name.

he was also pretty great on those recent snl sketches. I don’t really care for SNL these days, but a good host seems to bring out the best in this kinda lame cast

Vegas seems to have a museum for everything. Everything from gangsters to punk rockers to ones that can give a dose of radiation or a curse from a creepy item

Been following the slow burn that is Fallout S2....but things just got interesting during the last episode....

I have no knowledge on the game series, so just going with the flow.......soooooo....

Spoiler

....what the heck are those demon creatures?  And why did they apparently exist hundreds of years prior to the events we are seeing unfold in the current Fallout universe?  Really enjoyed the "Alaska Battlefront" scene with the powered armor and the "Reds"...but then was totally lost when those demons showed up.....WTH?

...anyways hope the slow burn episodes are out of the way for the remainder of the season...

This newest episode gave game fans what was teased last season, the Deathclaws, and they look absolutely glorious.

Seriously, I love how these things were brought to life, CG of course, but also some really impressive practical effects as well. The blend of CG and practical effects being used to bring this world to life is fantastic, absolutely the right way to go, especially the power armor, and seeing a T-45 brings me right back to Fallout 3, that armor was crap but looked great.

Spoiler

The number of Easter eggs and nods for game fans are just so fun too, seeing The Kings still kicking, was absolutely awesome, and they look pretty identical to how they did in Fallout New Vegas, each King was accounted for even the leader. Only 20 years after New Vegas, yikes, the strip is cooked. All the securitrons patrolling The Strip are gone, The Kings went feral, and there's a Deathclaw nest right in front of the Lucky 7s, what a bummer. Seeing how Caesars legion played out was damn funny too, and Kevin McAllister became a praetor? Crazy stuff lol.

Loving this season so far, it's more Fallout then season 1, thou shalt get distracted constantly indeed, it's just like playing the game, I'm loving it. Doesn't hurt that New Vegas was peak Fallout, well above 3, 4 and 76 of course, easily up there with 1 and 2, best Fallout game made IMO.

I'm also loving that, so far, there's still no definitive answer to what ending is canon for Fallout New Vegas. The show has been really, really good about tip toeing around giving us definitive answers to what happened to House, The Strip, and of course the player character The Courier.
