I got a pretty healthy stash in there now with a few Macross kits an MA k double pack of afs armors, some Moderoid Tekkaman and that beautiful upcoming Queadluun Rau. I don’t know how much shipping will be, but I also don’t know how much the eventual charges will be if I wait past their deadline. this tariff thing needs to end Quote

I’m hoping to visit Japan again next summer. As that trip gets closer, I’m definitely going to wait to buy some things or maybe have them shipped to family in Tokyo so they’ll be waiting for me. SteveTheFish Posted Saturday at 12:35 AM Posted Saturday at 12:35 AM My pics of the Max Factory booth. I attended the All-Japan show yesterday. Look at the bottom of the pic above. Tiny 72nd scale Minmay by the Valk's foot! There were also Moderoid Mospeada kits on display. Quote
KOG Water Dragon Posted Saturday at 03:03 AM Posted Saturday at 03:03 AM What a world we live in. Multiple 1/72 armored battroids to choose from. I have the old Arii and the recent Hasegawa, looking forward to the PLAMAX. Quote

Hikaru is sent on his recon mission in the armored Valkyrie while the pageant is taking place. I like how both PLAMAX and Hasegawa are including the figures to evoke the memories of the events that took place when each of these models appeared. Quote

I just thought it a bit strange since he was only able to watch her from tv. But I’m glad it’s included rather than just another standing Hikaru Quote

The pic with the 72nd scale Minmay is Hikaru's 1-S from DYRL. The figure at the bottom of the pic does not look like swimsuit Minmay to my eye. The VF-1S kit is supposed to come with a fig. Of Minmay in her dress from the end of DYRL. As seen in promo pics for the kit here. The swimsuit Minmay likely does come with the Armored Valk kit as they were seen in the same ep. Quote

Bolt Posted Sunday at 11:01 PM Posted Sunday at 11:01 PM It's funny. I'm likely to get the armored VF-1J just for Minmei Quote

Who needs a hard to find 1A, unless you’re really just interested in that Kakizaki figure they included. The lil people are so awesome and I’m glad they’re packed in these kits. Quote
VF-1A Grunt Posted Monday at 11:31 AM Posted Monday at 11:31 AM I have to say, I much prefer Hasegawa’s box art, but I’m really liking the PLAMAX line as a “anime fun” and easier to build companion to Hasegawa’s models. Quote

The Wave 1/72 VF-171 series was very welcome. Would be nice if they'd add a battroid selection but I'm not holding my breath. Even moreso I'd like them to finally do a 1/72 & 1/100 Destroid Spartan. Max Factory seems to be nearing the end of what they can do with the VF-1 (still need Max and Miria VF-1J though), so Macross 7 seems to be the next focus. Will be interesting to see what Bandai does with the HG line once the VF-31 and VF-25 variants are released. That will take a while though. Hoping they will do VF-11. Not sure what else they would consider. Maybe Macross 7 since the Max Factory stuff is 1/72, and the HG line is 1/100. Would be nice to see VF-19 and VF-17 variants in the HG line. I guess they still have the option to dip into Macross Zero (VF-0) as well. And lastly, maybe adversaries from Macross Zero (SV-51), Macross Frontier (VF-27), and Macross Delta (SV-262). The adversary option could be the most exciting. Hasegawa is where I really see some gaps I want filled. 1/48 YF-21. 1/48 VF-1D. 1/48 VT-1 and VE-1 would be amazing. 1/72 YF-21 battroid. 1/72 VF-11 battroid. And I know it's not likely, but I'd welcome new plastic kits from Macross II, from any company. Quote
wm cheng Posted yesterday at 06:57 PM Posted yesterday at 06:57 PM Oh Man! I just want the figures but I agree they will be really hard to paint especially the eyes at that scale!!! Quote

I think probably at 1:72nd scale, painting the eyes would make it look weird and bug-eyed. Probably the best thing would just to use a wash on the face, like Tamiya's brown/pink accent color. Even at 1:35th scale, armor modelers doing figures don't really paint the eyes, do they? I'd have to look up some examples. Quote

He mentions in most of his videos that trying to paint the whites of the eyes will come out looking weird and bug-eyed even at that scale. https://youtube.com/@spruesnbrews?si=oQlbZEyoL3exLVB9 Edited 19 hours ago by VF-1A Grunt Quote

I'd have to look up some examples. It depends on the style. Realistic ones can get away with a wash, but actually painting the eye can help. With anime figures, especially the higher detail ones, the best way is with water color pencils. Start with a dark wash like a darker brown or black if it’s a female character with eyeliner. Then use a water color pencil of white to get the out line of the eye and a sharpened darker one to outline the pupils and such. If they look a bit buggy you can do a quick top coat and then a bit of a light gray wash to tone the whites down Quote
