Bandai DX Chogokin 1/48 VF-1

I sense Bandai is getting ready for DX Roy VF-1S DYRL edition with items to set it apart from TV 1S,

-square box micro missiles.

-DYRL Roy pilot

-and some exclusive that sets it apart from TV edition.  (maybe throw in some mechanic strike parts)

 

Interesting to see they are distinguishing the TV hands and missiles on this 1J,

another way Bandai gives back a little while setting up a market for a DYRL edition.

 It's definitely the right tray because that's the one with all the TV style hands. Would like to see the other tray also to see how they included the missiles. It's funny, they actually reduced the amount of contents in the first tray since it used to be three sets of DYRL hands and then one set of R TV gun holding and L TV open hand. Basically, we get one less set of hands. 

Contents aside, looks like the toy is the same ol' VF-1J Hikaru.

I didn't realise it was 1/48...thought it was 1/60. This is my first ever VF-1!

Picked one up yesterday at the store. The funny thing is that they took a picture of my face at check out. Maybe to avoid scalpers? Not sure how that works. The queue was also an interesting mix of old dudes in expensive suits, enthusiasts and tourists. 

The box is nice, but it's still unopened. 

Edit: No lottery involved, just rocked up and bought it.

Yup, the photo at the store says 1 piece per customer. It’s how Tamashii Nations limits this by taking a picture every time you get a store exclusive. Not sure how accurate it is cos I’ve never tried to get duplicates 🤔

you'de think that after two days of this version being available, somebody would have thought of posting a comparison pic with the first or second release!? 🤔

But Honestly I think other then missiles and stand, there is no diff.

Probably some comparison photos or videos are going to show up in the next day or two via Twitter or Youtube. Not here. Most Valks here tends to stay in their boxes.

Well there is that pesky thing called the Pacific Ocean delaying the arrival of the toy to the states for a side by side comparison

The front/back of the box are in the post above by betocc-that is literally the box.

I'm glad to hear that its not a lottery event only anymore and anyone can grab one, which implies prices should drop a bit.
I pulled the trigger and got one at $185 yesterday when I still thought it was lottery sales only, now I wonder if I should have waited a bit longer.

Can say I am just a bit disappointed it looks exactly like the first.
Their product promo photographer needs to have their white balance checked when doing those original pics. The 'product may look different than image' certainly held true on this one.

You need 9 units to recreate Yamato's sequence. 10 if we're going to follow Bandai's.

So the pics on the box are darker, but they actually looks lighter than the original, makes total sense.

And now I know why no blister pics of the missiles...thrown into the bottom of the case to save some $ on a redesign.
That is pretty funny

You may have missed it, but the box clearly said "Yamato V1 Special Color Edition". 🤪
