Most of these seemed like pretty good deals, if you were OK with the lack of boxes and accessories such as missiles and additional hands....

Here is a recent sale on YJA for a complete VF-1J Mass Production to give you an idea of what a box and accessories can potentially add or remove to the value of these collectibles...I would say the more desirable, rare, or HTF the item is, the more likely a condition of MIB seems to affect the upward market price of said item...

Yamato 1/60 VF-1J Mass Production - MIB, unused - 40,600 JPY

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f398905938

Compared to the one that just sold loose....

Yamato 1/60 VF-1J Mass Production - with gun, DYRL-type articulated hands, no other accessories confirmed - 18,500 JPY

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u346147416

On the other hand, a 1/60 VF-1 that can arguably be said not to be  as desirable, rare, or HTF....

1/60 Yamato Super VF-1J Max V2 - MIB, unused - 13,000 JPY

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d415049040

Not much of a difference when compared to the loose version....

Yamato 1/60 Super VF-1J Max-type - with gun, DYRL-type articulated hands, no other confirmed accessories - 9,005 JPY

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s731702492

Hope this helps when trying to determine fair pricing as both a seller and a buyer.

Happy Collecting!

Thanks for compiling these @jvmacross - I think it'd be very helpful for anyone in the market as a buyer or seller. Especially when the "easy button" alternative is to browse eBay.

NP!

Generally, the problem with most listings on eBay....in this case referring to Macross collectibles....the prices will often include a markup from most resellers and/or oft maligned "scalpers"....which will not give you a good indication on actual market price....as a buyer you will get an inflated price..the "eBay price" and as a seller, you may end up not being able to sell your item easily as it will most likely be way more than what your customers could buy for themselves directly from a Japanese source...like YJA, Mandarake, other Japanese online sites...or even MWers! :drinks:

Osato Toys definitely had the most unusual Macross toy/collectible selections of the SDFM era.

Luckily, I already had acquired the "Bang Bang" set a while back...I had it posted up but not sure what happened to it.  I'll get the pics back up as soon as I can find my original listing pics.

Slightly OT, but does anyone have a recent DHL shipping cost to the US for a 1/60 DX valk from Mandarake?  (since that's the only option right now)

Lots of current shipping discussion in this thread....

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/topic/48060-japan-post-suspension-of-international-mail/page/9/#comments

...perhaps post your inquiry there...

I have had items shipped recently using DHL, but nothing like a 1/60 DX's size/weight

Where's that Bandai 1/1800 scale SDF-1 with lights, sounds, and remote control rail guns??? They should put a mini LED screen in for the bridge also so we can see Global and the bridge bunnies. We're at 8K Bandai, you can do this!

I probably have this wrong. I was just thinking "How big would a 1/1800 be?". I measured my Matchbox 1/3000 and it's about 17" tall. x3000 equals 51,000". Divided by 12 gets you a 1:1 scale of 4250 feet. The SDF-1 is about 3/4mi tall?!?!?!?:shok:

1/1800 would be 28" tall. May as well make it an even 3'/36in.:D

Yamato 1/3000 next to the Yamato 1/2000....

And the teased Bandai 1/1800....

The same show teased the 1/35th DX VF-1J...then we got a 1/48 DX VF-1J......

maxresdefault.jpg

I'd settle for a 1/3000-ish Bandai DX SDF-1 with all the bells and whistles....preferably a TV version, but I'd be there on PO night for the DYRL version too!

I'd buy the crap out of a couple 1/35 VF-1's!

And I would absolutely buy a 1/3000 (or bigger) TV SDF-1!

Crazy right? I was a part of the bidding early on. It recently sold at Manda for much better condition at 80,000 JPY

The VE-1 and VT-1 are the only significant hold-outs from the "old school" 1/55 releases that still command the "Iron Price"....

Yes, high-end collectibles will most always sell for less on Mandarake due to the shop taking away the "competative pricing" aspect of an open market auction where several parties are involved in determining the final price vs. Mandarake and their individual seller per "controlled" transaction.  Basically, Mandarake "sets" the buy-back price, which must be significantly lower than market price in order for them to turn a profit in the transaction........think of it in terms of how a pawn shop makes money.  This "controlled" transaction usually leads to a lower Mandarake selling price, which I would think is purposeful so Mandarake can also retain their reputation of "fair" pricing for their consumers.

Makes total sense! I was contemplating purchasing it when I saw it but VE-1 and VT-1 aren’t ones I have to have and yet my completist OCD starts to kick in! LOL. I’ve been really enjoying the 1/55s lately.

You never know....40th Anniversary of DYRL? is coming up soon......maybe they can use the molds from their last "Origin of Valkyrie" series to recreate a VE-1 and VT-1 set.....the bonus is that we would finally get pointy nosecones!

Or just cross your fingers and hope Bandai makes "DX" versions if you just want bigger versions of both.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the 1/55’s get reissued. I’d definitely buy a “few” more.
The DX is not a replacement or substitution for the Chunky Monkey. They both serve very different purposes to me.

Agreed.....I am still waiting for a KO 3 ft "super sized" version of the chunky monkey.....they did that with the Optimus Prime......why hasn't this happened with the VF-1?!

Hmmm, I might buy something like that. Wouldn’t pay more than $200 and it would have to be quality.

Have you seen those mega-sized optimus primes?  A similar mega-sized Chunky Monkey version would be both relatively affordable and "high quolity"! :D

Wish I knew someone close to some of the 3P companies to see if they would pass off the idea.

I am not 100% sure, but I think someone on the boards was actually trying to do such a project a long while back.  I think he was going for all metal.....not sure if he ever finished that project.

I am sure it would be an easy project for someone with the skills in 3D modelling software, just copy the individual 1/55 parts and super-size them to the desired scale.  Woner what that would cost as a commisioned piece?
