i ended up picking up a few more so i'm going to try tightening the screws tonight.

Wish I can find Grimmy over here locally. I'd like to get a couple more for the kids for X'mas.

As such and as with any screw/plastic-stuff, just be mindful and feel the tension so that you don't accidentally break the whole thing.

The Future stuff is more a simpler fix and process if you're already used to it.

I kind of want them to make an MP ironhide... but I don't want to pay for it.

Well, shoot if we're taking about not paying, I want them to make an MP for every TF that graced the G1 cartoon and movie. :D

Gotcha!

Believe it or not G1 Iron Hide is very high on my wish list, even though he's just a plain Red Minivan thingy. Right up there with Hound and a proper Sunstreaker so that I can re-create this scene;

Talk about geeking out over Transformers, I would literally have a nerdgasm.

I'd be willing to bet, once UM is released, were going to see a new Decepticon mold, but then A certain Porsche and a certain Yellow Italian concept.

I only say that because I have been told Tomy just aquired rights for those two vehicles.

And to expect Takara to want to share. Now I got this from a absolute hardcore Tomy Diecast

Collector / seller. He buys direct from Tomy.

Grain of salt, but think possibility.

Felt like taking a picture of my original Metroplex.

Can't believe he's in such good shape and complete. I remember getting him for my birthday ages ago. I would have been about 10 or 11 I think. Look at those lame sticker skills :D

I had that one too. Loved it. Unfortunately my mom babysat others peoples degenerate offspring and one of the little Neanderthal like cretins snapped it at the waist.

What happened tothe rest of my G1 Transformers is an even bigger tragedy.

...never had Metroplex but I did have Fort Max as a kid. No idea what happened to him but I remember I loved playing with the (2) Headmasters that were apart of that set - they had better articulation from what I remember other Transformers had at the time.

Do tell!

the first run had rubber tires, according to tfwiki, and the upper legs were fully chromed. That version snapped at the waist really easy.

Mine is the sticker version with plastic tires, but it never broke :D

I let my best friend borrow my brothers Optimus Prime. He broke the leg off.

He held that over my head for 30 years, until I bought him a new-in-the-box reproduction for his birthday a few years ago haha.

It was a fun moment.

Never had Fort Max. I think a friend of mine did because I remember playing with it vaguely.

I just looked at images of the Grimlock unleashed Kre-o set over at TFW (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/kre-o-42/kre-o-transformers-grimlock-unleashed-photo-shoot-180218/).

I don't get it why Habro and Takara are unable to cast good looking gray plastic. Even Masterpiece figures like Grimlock and Starscream have those curls inside the gray plastic. Can someone who understands the molding process explain how this happens. I mean it could be on purpose but I doubt it.

Oh well luckily Lego seems to be able to mold good looking gray colored bricks. *glances at my Lego Star Wars toys*

It's not that they can't do grey---it's that they're trying to do silver. And it doesn't turn out well.

LEGO has their own version of that color, but it's kinda rare. But it has the same "swirly" look. LEGO usually simply does grey, or actual silver paint, or chromed. "Swirly silvery plastic" doesn't look as good, but is cheaper/easier.

For that reason, it's rare in LEGO, but ever more common with Hasbro.

LEGO silver-grey looks a lot like G1 Dinobot silver-grey.

As for the actual reason why it looks the way it does: Every stirred metallic paint? The particles start sinking to the bottom INSTANTLY. Same with plastic---the metallic bits will not distribute themselves evenly, just doesn't happen. As soon as the hot liquid plastic flows into the mold---the metallic bits will start settling even before the plastic hardens into shape---and the pattern left, shows the way the plastic flowed into the mold. They are "flow marks". Can happen with most any plastic color, especially red---but it's always visible with silvery plastic.

(also, in my experience---the silver plastic behaves funny----harder to sand/cut etc nicely----hate it when used in model kits--also probably why it's only ever used for small bits in LEGO, and never large bricks/plates) But Hasbro has no qualms about using it for everything everywhere!

Thanks. Funny I never imagined the characters (Grimlock/Starscream) as silver/metallic when I saw them in the comics/show. They always where gray-colored to me.

I wonder if I should track down high definitions of Scoria to see what FT is doing with their plastic. I have the feeling I rather don't because I will be utterly disappointed.

I don't want to be derailing this thread any further but I was shocked how bad the plastic looked on that Kre-O set. I'm even more interested in buying a Kre-O set now so I can actually handle some of the bricks and compare them to other stuff.

i still think this was the best christmas gift ever:

anyways, i ended up opening one of my TRU MP-03 grimlock and tried to tighten the screws. it worked a bit but eh, not so thrilled about him as i am with i guess macross stuff. i guess he's just a collector's item.

So I found one more MP03, ended up giving the other one to a local friendly Hunter buddy at cost.

Opened this one, and I was able to somewhat tighten the hips, but still not enough to anything pass

Very basic posing.

First one is only good for Dino mode, which is fine, because I wanted to display

Both modes. Still, very disappointed in the lack of stiffness, Hasbro needs to drop Viagra

In the mold.

Yeah I'm glad I passed on mp-03. The green is really distracting for me in peoples pictures, and loose joints just doesn't cut it for me. My favorite part of the original Grimlock is the clear neck and chest next to the chrome and diecast.

People make a big deal about it, but when they use lesser materials it's good to know what you're spending your money on. I don't get all the trolls on tfw who will fight to death to defend cheap products. Oh well.

I loved the original Tru and the original Takara in my shelf in different modes. Can't wait to get the King reissue to fill my shelf back up haha.

Unfrakkingbelievable.

Just called the two nearest TRUs here (about 20-30miles each on different directions from me) a few minutes ago. 10:00am and 10:05am, respectively. Opening time. Friday.

They confirmed (finally) that they had delivery and stock today. Three in one store, and five in the other.

They're all out already.

C'mon! At 10am and 10:05am.

Seems like these "interested individuals" (most likely scalpers) have been camping out and just stormed in right away when they just opened up the store, per the reps.

Reps told me to check again next week since no more deliveries this week.

Sometimes you just gotta admire these people. Like they don't seem to have any regular jobs that requires them to be at work instead of camping out. I can only guess that camping out is their work, at least with some of them. Or taking a day off just to camp out. Kinda funny coz the two TRUs I called today weren't exactly in the nicer part of the city to do any camping out.

Guess there will be some brand-new auction-listings up starting today for Hasbro Grimmy.

!&($@#&^%#(&!%&! :5:

TRU should really just flood their stores with more than enough Grimmy-inventory so that others who don't/can't camp will have a chance to purchase the item.

It's sad, but it's true, most of the people I know around here who are resellers and some that have earned "Scalper" nicknames.

Have no jobs, some don't even have cars, but they are in front of the glass door everyday 5 minutes before they open.

I never had time to do it, I just made friends with one of them, who thankfully collects Hotwheels, and once in awhile stumbles in before

the resellers make it.

Nothing more pathetic then a dude riding the bus, while holding giant bags of kids toys, he's not giving to charity lol.

Let me tell you a little secret those "interested individuals" that are scooping up the most desired toys and scalping them, aren't all campers. Some are the sales reps that work at TRU. I know from my days of working there that there were several guys who took the job specifically to snatch the toy before it even hit the shelf.

LOL.

Bunch of neckbeards.

They are going to make maybe 20 bucks over MSRP? They will eat that in Taco Bell in a week.
