regult
Just picked up a reissue VF-25F Alto DX. Won't have time to open it until Saturday though. Will report than any changes I find then. Graham Will wait for your report then! If possible please do post some pictures of the areas modified from the first issue... and how does one tell them apart by looking at the box? The pictures are really warming me up to this DX line, but I am still very bothered by the wrong placement of the hip/leg in battroid. promethuem5
YES! BBTS just sent me notification for my effin Alto DX! They did in fact honor the earlier preorder price as well... my Alto is finally within my grasp.

DarkReaper
Am I imagining things or is there a far larger gap between lower intakes and chest area in those pics? That makes it almost look like the 1/72.
m0n5t3r
somebody mentioned a few pages back that w/ correct transformation the little dot on the end of the nose/torso (beside the arrows) shouldn't be seen... anyway, i like how ff95 transformed his even if it is slightly mistransformed... looks taller, sleeker... and yeah, how does one distinguish a re-issue just by looking at the box? the 1st issue looks like its been sold out ages ago, but you'll never know... todd77
Just got my reissued Alto so here a few first impressions of the fighter mode: -The retooled holes are there but the big one needed to put in Luca's radome is covered, just like the 25G -I don't know whether it's my eyes but the wings do seem more straight than my 25G although it's still generally angled upwards -I don't know whether there's a mis-tranformation somwhere but the naselles on legs can be raised (very) slightly higher than my RVF and 25G and so there's a tiny bump that can be seen on the rear of the plane when looking straight from the front I'll try to post some comparison pics tonight when I have the time. todd77
does it say anywhere on the box that it is a ver 2.0? how do we recognise it from the box? I don't see any obvious marking saying that it's the new reissue and I don't have the original 25F with which to compare it. I also notice one other thing: the normal gunpod doesn't droop as much as my 25G (the tip of the gun touches with the underside of the fuselage - there's no gap unlike my 25G) and has an overall tighter fit. the_foul_fowl
Given the fact that the Armored VF-25 is but a month or two away (June 2009). I'm surprised we haven't seen more updated or colored pics yet. Makes me wonder if it'll be delayed. I don't mind though, since the VF-22 is supposed to be out in June too. Gonna be an expensive month, that. Negotiator
Ok, I've tried transforming the original the same way ff95gj has his (showing alot of nose cone) and there is no way to get the head up that high. I can only guess they changed that neck joint which is probably what they'll use for the new ozma. edit: after looking at the 25g, the ball connecting to the head might be set lower. (not so deep in the head). Edited May 1, 2009 by Negotiator

UN Spacy
Y'all lagging with the pics. C'mon fellas. Let's see those Fighter Mode pics. I would've taken a few shots if I had mine on me.
todd77
Finally got around to taking some shots of my 25F. Nothing fancy though as I'm just comparing it with my 25G. Here's the both of them side by side. Overall, the 25F does exhibit less curvature but it is still generally angled upwards. I can't seem to get both sides of the wings for both valks to be perfectly even with each other though. Either that or it's the camera angle. From the side, it's obvious that the wings slant upwards a lot more on the 25G. Also note that the gunpod on my 25G droops quite a bit compared to the 25F. As for the slightly raised nacelles, that was one of the first things I noticed when I took it out of the box. Nothing truly major though, just a slight raise which I can also do with my 25G though it takes a bit of effort. The 25F just lends itself more easily to it. regult
I am truly grateful for the pics in clean fighter configuration and compared to the G, but I am going to be very nasty and sorry for asking but can anyone show us that hole for the RVF that's on the second issue (shall we call it V2.0??) and not on the first issue? So far we see that it can show more nose cone in battroid, head lasers angle out too, and in fighter the wings don't have such a dramatic dihedral. I still feel some sort of pain when I see the landing gear, but I am really getting used to the DX...on the other hand, and this is OT, I am so amazed at the DX Quarter! my hobby money is spread too thin, so I have to be very selective! Here's a pic: The red circles highlight the holes required for Luca's radome. As you can see, the biggest hole at the rear is sealed for both Mikhail's and Alto's VF-25. However, the smaller holes (a pair of rectangular slots and a pair of tiny holes) remain. I don't have a first issue Alto so I can't comment on the differences between it and the reissue. todd77
How's the groin connector? Mine is pretty tight, as tight as my RVF - it's almost a double click. Unlike my 25G...
PsYcHoDyNaMiX
I got my VF-25G in last week and had it sitting on the side (due to my finals) in battroid mode. I've only transformed it from fighter to battroid twice (fighter, batt, fighter, batt not consecutively). Today after I had put the fast pack on and let it stand for a few seconds to admire it the thing just collapsed in half. It seems like the groin/crotch connector can't bare the extra weight. This is really a poor technical decision on Bandai's part. I think if they added some sort of hook along with the current connector it could've definitely made the battroid mode more stable. With the crappy tampo application (which rubs off pretty easily) I would have to say the groin/crotch connection problem takes the cake. ***EDIT*** I know for a fact that if/when I use the stand in battroid mode it would be fine, but that shouldn't be the solution. PsYcHoDyNaMiX
LOL, soft groin. I'll probably take it apart in another week after my finals are over to see if there's some alternative to fixing it.

PsYcHoDyNaMiX
Yea, I've thought about that. Like adding a small thin layer of some kind of epoxy, but I was also thinking of something a bit more permanent. Like adding a hook. LOL... it won't be soft groin anymore, but soft hooklike groin! DarkHawk
What happened to the reissue vf-25f alto custom?.....I cant find it anywhere!?!?!?! Was it a small reissue batch? Both HLJ and OD are sold out and BBTS has them for 150.00. I am not sure if BBTS has the original releases or the re-releases with the fixes........ promethuem5
BBTS is most certainly the reissue as they only finally got their first round of Altos the other day. I had the preorder from back when they had the 130 price, but they only just filled it, so it's not the first release.
Dio
Yea, I've thought about that. Like adding a small thin layer of some kind of epoxy, but I was also thinking of something a bit more permanent. Like adding a hook. I added two pieces of styrene, about 3mm by 5mm to either side of the softer grey connector, and now my 25G is almost tough to transform in that area. A "pinch" of about .030 inches tighter makes a huge difference in the amount of bite the connector has... so two pieces of .015 (I used one side .020 and the other side .010) should be enough to do the trick. Others have mentioned using paper, but the card stock I stuck in there seemed to want to fray pretty quickly and ended up not holding well. Alternatively you can remove the connector (one small screw) and coat the outer sides of the "hooks" with a little nail polish/superglue, and reinstall it. Not sure how well it would work though, I'm already happy with my method.

I'll probably result to that if my hook idea doesn't work out too well. ***EDIT*** Bleh, I was too lazy to make a hook and went with your idea Dio. I used two 0.01" 3x5mm styrene sheets along with crazy glue on both sides of the outer walls of the gray connector and the fit is tighter than new. It's like viagra for the VF-25G! wintermute
Sorry to hear your groin is soft, my 25G still stands with FP on it for weeks without stand. Ditto. I have been wondering how much of the loose groin connectors people have been mentioning on the DX are because of different amounts of use. I've transformed mine a handful of times -- no more than 5 or 6 -- and everything is nice and tight (except for the left calf armor and the infamous intake covers). What the average level of "use" among people with DXSGS (DX Soft Groin Syndrome)?

What the average level of "use" among people with DXSGS (DX Soft Groin Syndrome)? Even without the super pack on and with a super-glue fix on the hip tab, my 25G's hip connection is still looser than my RVF's and reissued Alto. Just transformed it and in the process of positioning the chest armor, the hip connection has a slight tendency to collapse although the click is still there. I guess I can imagine (or remember) how the 1st issue looks like now. Definitely doesn't bother to have that dorsal hole sealed, and the head lasers on the "F" would cover those rectangular holes anyway in fighter model...again, this makes me want the DX even more seeing the improvements! I don't have those holes under the head lasers on my Alto, so I think it is a re-issue thing. You probably misunderstood, if you do NOT have holes under the head lasers, then you have a 1st issue!
