Interesting and informative, but I think you missed my point. I'm not talking at all about the show or Kawamori's techniques. I'm simply lamenting the fact that this forum, which usually rises above stupidity like 4chan-isms, has completely been overrun by "Kawamori trolling" at every corner. No matter what people's opinions of the show are, I wish they could discuss them in a way that doesn't just spout out tired and annoying internet memes like "Kawamori trolling."

Yeah, I 'd expect much better from the forum who invented the "Holy Floating head" & "Kawamori smoking a bong" isms....

Just got a chance to finally watch it, and HOLY CRAP. That was the coolest single episode of anime I have ever seen. Never got a chance to catch my breath. Still having a hard time picking my favorite scene, but I think it's the scene with Alto/Brera adn Sheryl/Ranka "dueting". Damn, that was cool.

The voice singing Aimo at the end of the episode was Sakamoto Maya, Ranshe Mae's seiyuu, and vocalist for Triangular opening. Maybe it was the Queen Vajra singing it through Ranka's memory of Ransha Mae, since the other queen had communicated to her through Ranshe Mae's image before.

Well I never expected to see what became of the Megaroad-01. I've come to terms that we won't find out. :p If anything, I was hoping to see what became of Shin and Sara. As for all of "Kawamori's trolls," I just took them all as nods to the previous shows...and nothing more.

Macross Frontier is truly epic; it has far exceedingly surpassed my expectations on all fronts. I'm actually quite saddened and bummed out that Frontier is over. I can only imagine what the movie will bring.

Quick sidenote, even the rt.comers are at a full state of praise for this series, and sobbing over what they were given for their sequal.

That's because Triez hasn't reviewed it yet. He'll be all like, "predictable predictable not good predictable blah blah blah" an' everybody else'll all be like, "yeah yeah yeah it's so true."

:p

Agree to the comments about trolling. I don't see Kawamori as trolling... more like playing with us. That is really what someone who loves storytelling does to keep us with him the entire time. After all, a troll (true troll) would have killed everyone off, thus disrespecting the audience.

Instead I see a happy ending with people getting what they deserved, whether good or bad.

I'm a bit sad this run wasn't 32 episodes though. I know those days where anime can go on that long are over... we are now in an era where anime is just long enough to be marketable (11-13 episode arcs, 25-26 if we're lucky, 52 if there's significant commitment). I would love to see what would happen if we had a 30 episode macross... and don't want to wait FIVE years for such a deal.

Really, as someone not initiatied in Macross at all until I saw this show, I can't say I was disappointed at all. This was one of those shows that made me nostalgic for anime again. The last few years has been awash with so many bad shows, derivative shows, and this one just made me respect the industry again for being interesting and entertaining, as well as being able to weave together a deeply meaningful theme amidst the fantasy.

I'm really much happier with the ending now that I've had time to process it these past two days. I can't wait to see what Kawamori pulls out next and I don't think I can bear to watch another Gundam show ever again. (Well - actually - only if they bring back SEED with lots of pop songs XD)

I'm a bit nervous that this show will never get licensed here. I may make the plunge into BluRay next month just for this show. Serious.

WTF? only watched the subbed... action was great, albeit a li'l rushed. wished it was a 2 ep special w/c i thought when i saw the file was 700Mb.

...apologies for beating an already dead horse here but, WhyTF make a love triangle and not resolve it!? didn't like it w/ M7, didn't like it here. Maybe i'm just still not over SDFM/DYRL and Hikaru+Misa. I hope they resolve it if they indeed make a MF movie... will watch it again w/ a bit more of an open mind...

EDIT: after watching it again... it is an awesome ending to a great series even if the love triangle wasn't resolved.

Speaking of eyes...does Nanase still have a right eye or not?

Screw the love triangle, I want resolution to THAT mystery!

noticed they took off her oxygen mask last ep, and now its back on again?! what the hell was that? did they remove that oxygen mask so that the people in the shelter get the oxygen?! grrrr.....

or Luca removed it just so he could kiss her?!

:p

The question is, was Nanase in a regular shelter or Luca put her in special room where he is going to write her down as a casualty of the war and he will have her in her own private room tending to her until she gets "better"

You're evil.

but thats a great idea

She will come back in the movie wearing one of those patches that Birler and Briitai had :D

someone come out with a pic of that!! :D

...

noticed that minmay pic in Bilrer's ring (your avatar)? she looks sad... :(

 i'm lol-ing. That made my day.

I don't go there but I wonder what kinda discussions do they have comparing Frontier to .....*cringe*..... Shadow Chronicles.

I was falling into the “things are being rushed” camp after episode 24 but this episode is one word: Intense!!

Plenty of great moments. I love Bobby's character (you know what I mean  ).

Macross attack earns extra awesomepoints.

Bilrer's disappointment so nicely reflects that SDFM’s time has passed and that this was Frontier's story (but one can still wish someday we'll get to see the Megaroad again...)

Verdict: It isn’t SDFM but I really enjoyed MF.

BOMBAA!!

So we are getting a MF movie. Freaking great!

They can tease us with the love triangle all they want like they did in Dynamite but I do hope they develop the MZero connection or any other part of the M universe.

Finished watching the ep.

The episode reaffirmed what I had said in a thread earlier. This show does the moment to moment scenes really well and in the case of this episode, insanely well, but the overall planning is still pretty bleh. As someone pointed out, too much vital information and such was compacted into the last few episodes so it really felt rushed. Then there's the cast problem too, at least IMO. They nailed the action though, lots of Macross references and kick ass moments like the Quarter and Frontier bashing the crap out of the Galaxy.

So my final opinion on MacF is Awesome mecha porn, really good scenes in the episodes here and there, but crikey, did they even think of planning the story and characters better?

As for the whole love triangle spiel, it can be resolved depending on your point of view and how you interpret the clues. It'll likely never get a concrete answer but you can guess. Personally, I'd say that Sheryl is the final choice but you can make the case for Ranka, but of course I won't because I hate her >=P

alto has some funky flexible fingers/pinky... how the hell did he do that gerwalk gesture w/ his hand!?

Well know we know why he ended up with two girls at the end of things. :D

Interesting that you brought it up though, cause that scene did make me wonder how much a remotely operated a slaved VF-25 can do.

OMFG!!!!!!

I just watched the final episode and I almost want to cry. Frontier is one of the best anime series I have ever seen and the final episode was such a grand fanale. We are so fortunate to have this experience. I never would have thought that there would be another macross series, or at least one that would be good. But this was absolutely fantastic! Kawamori has made my dreams come true. Thank you all for helping.

Really wish they never add any "references" of old macross in the series... the final episode is so full of it. Especially that "speech about vajra are our friend, don't step on them anymore"

The last episode is pretty flashy, however it sucks it has to end like this... (at least add more macross song~)

Overall, i don't like frontier as much...Always with the damn open ending, if they should copy... copy the first macross... tell us who alto choose at least!!

What is this thing? Nobody addressed my question from earlier and I don't know if any theories were put forth already. It's a little blurry, but it definitely looks something like a Birdhuman head from M0.

Yea, I paused it a few times myself to see. I thought there was a person inside of that thing at first but I'm not sure. Reminants of Grace maybe?

However accurate you think a meme is has nothing at all to do with how annoying and overused it is. Or, to boil down this ridiculous meme and finally kill it:

THINGS NOT GOING THE WAY YOU LIKE =/= KAWAMORI TROLLING

Looks like a Mayan totem to me... Protoculture? (A good excuse to re-watch Macross Zero, hehehe...)

Btw...

I'm starting to believe that the structure around the Vajra planet was made by the Protoculture (because of the spiral symbol above all) to serve as some sort of nest for the Vajra Queen. I also think that the Vajra were lured to this galaxy by the original Ai Oboeteimasuka Protoculture song and then they made contact with the Protoculture... that's why the red ones got the spirals (some sort of Protoculture influence...). The Protoculture studied the Vajra and created the Birdman based in the Vajra Queen... hence the similarity. After that the Protoculture left or dissapeared... and the Vajra stayed in that "Vajra farm" planet...

Just saw the last episode.

Like most have said, it looked a bit rushed. However, it was very good and there were some open ended issues as well.

Besides Alto's indecisiveness, what happened to the rest of the Galaxy fleet? Does Grace have another cyborg body stashed somewhere?

Richard Bilrer has a photo of Minmei in his ring, what the heck does that mean?

Leon is not dead, just arrested by the miltary police. Does this mean he will somehow escape and cause havoc again?

I hope the movie is not like Macross 7 where it was just an episode that took place between the original episodes. It should continue a few months or years after epsiode 25.

Anyways, that was my 2 cents... ^_^

I only glance every so often, but the undeniable quality for now is definately undiable even to them.

I think the movie will answer those questions and even add more mistery to the whole Protoculture issue... ^_^

That's why I made my post about the overall greatness of the episode despite of my slight disappointment that a lot of stuff still remains unanswered. What makes macross so enjoyable is the fact that things do get revealed over time, but for every revelation spawns new and fascinating mysteries. It's just like studying the universe in real life, where for every mystery you resolve you discover even deeper and more exciting fundamental mysteries. Hope for the future this is, and a guarantee that macross will remain relevant and timeless.

And let's just say I'm annoyed anytime someone starts obsessing over some supposed triangle resolution. The sad reality is that monogamy runs on the basis of evil, not good, since it exists to satisfy jealousy and possessiveness, nothing more, nothing less. End of the day, it's how much people love and care for each other that counts, not some perverse ideal that has somehow entrenched itself so deeply in modern society.
