Sorry to rain on the parade but to me he looks like cliche han solo anti-hero tough guy who of course eventually comes around to fulfilling his destiny as a hero and saviour. He should have stuck to the space-porn.
the white drew carey
A lot of that CGI is creepy looking.... in a bad way. I clicked on the link and that Twi-lek chick looked wrong, you know? the white drew carey
Wait a 'sec... Doesn't his ship, the "Mynock" (seriously, folks) look a lot from the top like a rusty Klingon Bird of Prey without the neck and head?
Sumdumgai
I thought the Mynock looked like a binocular crossed with wings from a pad (or yeah a knligon bird of prey). I like star wars, but not everything star wars. Damn this comic looks retarded.
Radd
Hey, why not? They can't do any worse than 'Lucas... 392577 I don't know about that, I recently went back and reread some of the old popular Star Wars EU stuff, like the Dark Horse 'Dark Empire' series, and you know what? It was pretty terrible, and this was the cream of the crop of non-movie Star Wars back in the day, along with the Timothy Zahn novels (which I've yet to reread). Retracting Head Ter Ter
Lame! Anti-Hero bad boy with attitude. Where have we seen this 5000 times before? Everything went downhill for SW after ROTJ. Heck! It went downhide _during_ ROTJ even. Once the ewoks popped up, well, its all downhill from there.

DARTHTODD
The reason I'm so skeptical of this if because it's only 100 years after Luke's time and everything in the galaxy is all hosed up again. It's like Luke and everyone else never accomplished much (a lasting peace). I wish more that this took place 500 or 1000 years later. Just my opinion. Southpaw Samurai
The reason I'm so skeptical of this if because it's only 100 years after Luke's time and everything in the galaxy is all hosed up again. It's like Luke and everyone else never accomplished much (a lasting peace).I wish more that this took place 500 or 1000 years later. Just my opinion. 392685 To some extent, you can say that about ALL the post-ROTJ Expanded Universe stuff. In the grand scope of things (especially considering Lucas' current philosophy of how the movies were about Vader and how he fulfilled the prophecy), then having the Emperor re-appear as a clone, having the Empire still be a giant menace, and having all the various grand conflicts going on really removes the importance and relevance of what happened in the movies. Most great periods of strife/war/heroic effort are remembered because there WAS a down period after it. Perfect example of the opposite is WW1. Big, highly important period. But even though people still realize such and talk about it, in the minds of most people, it got eclipsed by WW2, which resonates more because it occurred so soon afterwards and because what followed that were mostly smaller wars that were more almost follow-ups to what WW2 wrought. Had Hitler suddenly reappeared in 1950 with a large scale army in South America and threatened the world again, WW2 probably would've not had as much importance to people today. The images do look both silly and trite and the story sounds equally unimaginative so far. BTW, I don't know if you've seen the actual message board from the link, but whatever you do, DON'T go there and post your feelings unless you want to kiss the creators' butts. Between the DH fanboys and the highly defensive creators, you'll be at best ignored....but most likely lynched. I think HG/Robotech lovers get a better treatment here...sort of scary. Radd
Yeah, I paged through the comments and couldn't believe how much of it seemed to be mindless praise. I didn't even see one comment about the lense flare filter which is something amateurs should know better than to ever use. If you can paint one yourself and have it look right, it's one thing, but using a filter to slap a lense flare into a picture is pretty much like drawing a picture of a guy firing a gun, but then using clip art of a firing gun, that doesn't at all match up with the angle or the look of the picture, instead of actually drawing one. Mr March
With all these books, comics, animated series and the imminent television series, Star Wars is rapidly approaching Star Trek/Gundam/Stargate levels of overexposure and flat out lameness. Every story is repeated dozens of times over and every new incarnation is just variation on the same old theme. This franchise should take a break...now, before it is forced to bow out due to poor sales/ratings.

Sundown
Initial reaction. Ew. Another attempt at turning Star Wars into something more gritty and extreme to pander to our anti-iconic culture. Secondary reaction. Mild interest. Yes, the hero being yet another Skywalker is cheesy, and yes, the anti-hero archetype is overplayed, but then again, all story ideas are overplayed as are archetypes by their very definition. There aren't any original stories under the sun, and what really matters is a story's execution. If properly executed, I would be curious about this particular Skywalker and his exploits, but that's a giant if. Still, old ideas can still be well done and engaging, even if not particularly fresh. I do like the art and visual style in the few panels here, especially the character design plate in the lower right. The designs do feel Star Wars, albiet Star Wars with a dirty, bounty hunter, underworld bent. The pirate tattoo, although corny, is actually very reminiscent of Fett's own logo, and it does fit within certain stylistic themes of Star Wars. Unfortunately, the main character looks like Mick Jagger with a dye job. Is it gonna suck? Probably. But there's a small kernel of Star Wars authenticity I think I can almost detect. Unfortunately, the creator's penchant for the corny (or him being unversed in Star Wars lore) becomes apparent in his naming of characters and ships only after the most obvious of Star Wars creatures. I'm half expecting Cade's favorite cantina to be the "Thirsty Tauntaun", his favorite drink to be the "Chilly Wampa", and his favorite blaster to be named "Rancor". =P A lot of that CGI is creepy looking.... in a bad way. I clicked on the link and that Twi-lek chick looked wrong, you know? Not to mention the fact that they used the (haha) ever popular Lens Flare Filter. Geez, even I learned not to use that damned thing anymore!!! I don't think the Twi-lek looks especially wrong except for the fact that she's missing eyebrows and looks like she came out of Poser. The pose is okay, the design's not horrible, and the tats are actually kind of nice, but the (ew) Lens Flare and the Poser-ness of the rendering does scream "amateur". And the ship looks highly unimaginative, even if it sort of, kind of, not really works as something out of Star Trek or Wing Commander. But where's the bloody cockpit? BTW, I don't know if you've seen the actual message board from the link, but whatever you do, DON'T go there and post your feelings unless you want to kiss the creators' butts. Between the DH fanboys and the highly defensive creators, you'll be at best ignored....but most likely lynched. I think HG/Robotech lovers get a better treatment here...sort of scary. 392694 Actually, I see a few posts mentioning whether the Twilek was a little trite and whether she was a little bit over the top, not to mention a flamewar over something or other between the actual writers and one poster. Yes, the creators are defensive and the regulars there lather sometimes cautious praise, but I seriously doubt we should expect them to pre-emptively pee on everything like we love to do here... *relieves bladder* Edited April 21, 2006 by Sundown

Keith
I'm still waiting for that bad spinoff that takes place in contemporary times, with Gungans crashing on Earth, setting forth events that would unlock the forgotten history of humans, as emissaries of a rag-tag colony fleet fighting off their pursuers look for their long forgotten home word to find the last decendant of the Jedi, who is some Dentist in Brooklyn.
