Don't really do it for me either... i mean, i don't hate them, and not partial to them either.... lol~! what i want is a VF-1 on Mac 0 and the SDF itself, dammit! wtf is up with that claw?? i'm also a claw hater, but i'm a very NOT big fan of MZero in general. that claw is just SO rediculously out of place. it's like having a big "anti-tank" bayonette on a howitzer just because one day MAYBE a tank might roll up, you might be out of ammo, and you'll be like, "we could totally stab it with our howitzer bayonette!" what next are we going to see the monster running and jumping, and transforming and flying away? Yeah, but I bet it will be very cool when we see that in action Anyway, it doesn't appear to be a spare weapon but a self-defense close combat weapon just in case the enemy came too close. Maybe it also aids when crossing rough terrains. Compendium says: The original Mk I [Monster] was not conceived to be equipped with a missile launcher on either side of the main body I am not sure this meant the original Monster had claws, but it's an option. Personally though I think the idea came from Escaflowne. what next are we going to see the monster running and jumping, and transforming and flying away? "MONSTER plane mode: GO!" Renato Posted October 14, 2004 Share Posted October 14, 2004 I just saw a TV ad (I say "ad", I mean "rapid flash of random images which an oldschool kid like me doesnIt understand) for episode 5 of M0 a couple of days ago while watching some other crappy anime. Yeah, that monster will be cel-shaded only, no CG. Though in my opinion, the cel-shaded mecha in the show hasn't been done badly at all. So why the hell can't they put that much effort into animating the characters in the same way. So far what I hate the most about Zero are the characters. Even if the designs are basically bad, they can still look good if they move nicely, but no, it looks as though actual "animation" has not evolved in general since the days of Space Cruiser Yamato. I mean, for a bunch of fighters that were reportadly rushed into service and production, they have a remarkable amount of support equipment to go with them. Nobody bitched about the FPs magically appearing on the SDF-1 even though they had never been used previously. The VF-1 having been introduced to the public at the SDF-1 launch ceremony... Nobody bitched about the FREAKIN FOLD BOOSTERS for the YF-19 along with fully armed FPs(albeit sissy versions), a cannon that can blow up a monster... and other assorted ordinance. . . plus Isamu manages to steal all of this and a full loadout to boot. Just gave up on the whole series after that, but I still keep an eye on what's going on, to see if it's worth my time at all to try to get back into it. Considering the technology has been backward engineered for nearly 8 years at that point, I'm sure there were many prototype's that wouldn't make it to a standard military installation like South Atalia, but would be perfect for a crisis operation like securing the birdman. One of my friends kicked somebody's ass(a Robojunkie) after being hassled for buying a copy of FB2012. When will Robotech fans learn that Macross is superior? One reason why I like Macross Plus is because the mecha are bleeding edge technology when compared with the rest of the Macross universe. My problem is that Macross Zero has gone overboard. EVERYTHING is "prototype" and "special use". To me, it means that the producers and designers have gone with new stuff simply for the sake of having new stuff in the show. I mean, they even had a prototype full armour system for the VF-0 to use. Why not use the regular system? Because they could design something new and maybe sell a product off of it. Do I mind the unmanned drones? Hell, no. I like them. I like 'em a lot. It's a good, "realistic" desicion. I dislike the fact that they're being launched from the VF-0. I mean, the VF-0 was supposed to be rushed into production to fight the SV-51. Like I said before, it's got a helluva lot of support behind it. Not only do they have three seperate styles of fighter, one of them is completely different! The delta-wing design we see on Shin's VF-0 is there simply to make the hero mecha different from the "cannon fodder" mecha; and that's something I've always despised about Macross. It'd be like giving Luke Skywalker a different X-wing during the Death Star run just to show that he's the hero of the movie. Different paint schemes is alright, and even believable. A wholly different mecha? Not my cup of tea. Same thing with the Monster. Why is a "prototype" of that mecha showing up in Zero? Just because the people in charge saw a chance of making a new (and hopefully marketable item. He is just a label whore. Ignore him. Flamebait much? I won't even dignify this (or you) with a response. If it says "Robotech" then its good, if it says "Macross" then it must be ripped on. Entirely untrue. I rip on some Robotech mecha just the same. (VF-055 Devastator and Shadow Dancer Cyclones are my favourite target). I simply refrain from bringing them up on MacrossWorld because I like to talk about Macross here. I save the Robotech discussions for RT.com and other sites, unless someone else brings it up on here. Come on, if you can cream your pants over a transforming Invid mecha, surely you can tolerate these drones. In no way, shape, or form did I "cream my pants" over the Overlord mecha. I just said it looked neat. I'd have to see it in action before I can make an opinion.
