I don't think there's any way they can charge that much for it and expect it to sell at all. I'd expect something in the same range as the normal release YF-19 re-release, really. Still stupidly expensive, but I can't see them charging anything close to the SV-51's price.

Suppose it's possible, but I thought there were more photos of that one in less suspicious lighting. Guess we'll just have to see. I'm picking up at least one either way, I just hope we don't get a one-shot with it, and they make a couple different colors.

What happened to the darker colored version they showed before? That made it so much less gaudy.. even if it was less accurate.

Yeah, they apparently went through a whole heap of disastrous management unfortunately. I don't know what to really think, since it looks like they're not continuing the line, only liquidating remaining stock. I'm more concerned with the Enterprise D build-up, since I did decide to try that, and have been lamenting the pile of unopened boxes for those kits (though the bonus shuttle models are actually pretty nice). Frankly, I'm still very concerned about that build, because despite all of the images they showed of the "finished" product, I have incredible doubts about the construction. I've watched people doing the build-up, and it's very clear that the people who designed that project had no freaking clue what they were doing. It's like they've never actually built an Enterprise D model in their lives, because it's rather apparent that there is absolutely no structural connection between the saucer and lower hull at all.. they just expect it to snap on somehow? The only way to display it is going to be separately supporting the parts to make it look like they're connected, and the way it is full of individual battery boxes powering every segment just screams at me to scrap the majority of the electronics, and redesign the lighting and power scheme from the ground up. It's just bizarre.

Unfortunately, those two tend to be shelf-warmers, at least from past experience. The VE-1 seems to have something of a cult following for its unique role, but both the 1/60 Yamato and HMR VT-1 really didn't make any waves. The Yamato was easily acquired on clearance not long after it was released, and the HMR was one of the few I seemed to have no trouble getting extras of on pre-order night. In any case, I would never expect Bandai to do anything other than a TWE release for it, if they ever do get around to it, and that's just fine with me. But honestly, it wouldn't really surprise me if Bandai never even considered making their DX VF-1 capable of working with those design changes. Considering how many specialized re-releases they have had to produce over the years to make their valks capable of mounting super and armor packs that they should have known people would want to buy, and yet made no attempt to design valks that would even be capable of mounting them if they were produced, they don't have the greatest track record when it comes to planning their product lines for forward-compatibility.

So THIS is interesting. This just showed up in my junk folder today. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I would love to see them finish off some of the stuff Eaglemoss left hanging. Edit: Apparently the unsold stock is winding up with Master Replicas, while the build-up projects will be handed off to DeAgostini.

Yeah, I REALLY want a VT-1. I can give or take the VE-1, but the Ostrich is just so iconic, and I would love to see one in this size. But yeah.. In general, get with the DYRL stuff, please.

Yeah, they're really the final holdout that keeps coming up with reasons to own a console at all (sort of, at least). I did skip the Wii-U, but I went the extra steps to grab a Wii that ran Gamecube discs, so I could keep playing those. I've held out on the Switch, because I was just so much busier with PC stuff, but I'm debating whether it would be worth it to get a Switch now.. or wait and see what Nintendo's next big move will be, and whether they flub things with backwards compatibility.- 6889 replies

I hadn't even considered buying a console in about five or six years at this point, but I will say a Nintendo was always the most likely one, just because everything else eventually winds up on PC. And to think I was actually just considering replaying Metroid Prime..- 6889 replies

The only other games that even come to mind there would be Force Unleashed, or Jedi Survivor, and I haven't played either, but I think those are both primarily single-player. If you're looking for pvp-style shenanigans like the old online matches from Jedi Outcast/Academy, I don't know if there's been anything new since that point.- 6889 replies

I have been (sporadically) keeping track of my items in a spreadsheet, with dates, sellers, and prices. It's mostly just to make sure I don't buy extras of something, but it also gives me a good baseline for how to price things if I ever want to sell them.

I wish I was that organized.. all of mine are essentially grouped by.. "category?" I guess you can call it that. They're scattered across a few rooms, and only stacked one-deep in closets most of the time, so I know exactly what's in every pot. I've definitely gone deep into the Tetris method, finding combinations of boxes that form even groupings. The assorted Bandai exclusive super pack boxes make great little spacers to complete a row.

Do what I did, I spent some of my pandemic boredom trawling ebay for the old ships, and came away with a couple of the old Playmates ships NIB for about $20, and a handful of garage sale kitbash fodder copies for between $10-15.

It's been a while, so I forget what the mixed-up parts actually causes. I think it's primarily just something that causes the ankles to not retract properly in fighter mode. You might not notice it at all if you keep the feet extended.

Compared with Yamato/Arcadia, and their (almost) complete lack of stands, I understand why Bandai made them standard, but given the differences in approach, I still would much rather trade their ugly stands for some missiles for every release. I know it's a personal preference, but I would use missiles a lot more than any included stand. I keep mine primarily in fighter mode, so my "stand" tends to be the landing gear. If the stands weren't a visual abomination on the shelf, I might actually use them, but I neither appreciate their looks, nor trust their ability to actually hold anything stable. The first time I tried to stick my DX Roy on the fast pack stand mount, the adapter cracked, and I threw it back in the box forever. I would gladly pay Bandai extra to design an integrated stand mount that didn't require a pile of adapters for every mode. I can't believe it would actually be that difficult for them to just install a socket and pin system that'll mount the thing on a metal peg. And that goes for both Bandai, and Yamato/Arcadia. The adapters are just ducking fugly no matter how you slice it.

Moderoid Model Series by Good Smile
Chronocidal replied to M'Kyuun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ok, this is something I never expected to see. I would totally buy up an entire line of Gridman kits. My younger brother had a few of the Samurai Syber Squad (yes it was spelled that way) toys, and I never watched the show, but they always had fun transformations/combinations. -
Honestly, anything's better than Bandai's standard "Let's make a generic mechanical-looking hexagon and include it with every release going forward." The mounting systems are bad enough, but they used to care enough to make matching bases, back when they did the SMS logos for the VF-25 series. Once they made the generic base for the 171s, they stopped doing anything else. I'll be curious to see if they bring back the SMS bases for the VF-25 re-releases.

So I'm looking at these, and wondering if he printed his own decals for the shields. I did a quick size comparison, and the shields use a smaller set of numbers than even the smallest font included in the Hasegawa VF-31A decals. The bigger numbers on the right are pasted from below to give a better visual comparison for their size on the shield panel. Did Bandai include smaller decals in their 1/72 kits? I know I got one of the super-packed VF-31 kits, so maybe those decals would work better.

I haven't looked for that one on shelves, but I might pick if up if I run by it. I do think the giant screw holes all over it need something to cover them though, they're kind of obnoxious. Probably would have been a lot less visible if they put the holes on the insides of the nacelles. Definitely glad to see some main-line Trek toys on shelves again though. It's been far too long.

I'm in the same boat, no update on the one I'm waiting to go into my warehouse. Went to check earlier, since I'm holding off shipping my Wave 171 and Arcadia Tomohawk until it arrives, and they keep pestering me to ship. Not in any rush to receive any of those things though, so as long as they don't threaten to cancel my orders, I'm happy to wait and ship them together.

Not sure if these were on anyone's radar, and I missed it, but just found these browsing at HLJ. https://www.hlj.com/1-144-scale-vic-viper-ver-gradius-v-poa38390 Same company that made the Raiden fighters, which were pretty small but very detailed. These should be about 6 inches long.- 6889 replies

Looks pretty decent, I think the only two real disappointments I have are the fugly feet (given for a Bandai YF-19, really), and the fact that they didn't even try to hide the waist section in fighter mode. That giant gray block between the intakes really sticks out.

Honestly, if they're going to do FFVII, I kind of just want to see brick-built PS1-era polygon characters.

If they start doing BTAS sets, I would really love to see the Batwing from that series.. or maybe a slightly stylized take on it. After seeing the official large scale production, I do appreciate the shape being more reminiscent of the original 1989 version, but I would love to see something like a cross between the BTAS version, and the Batman Forever proportions. Very rough 5-minute 3D doodle, but this was my mental image of what the BTAS Batwing looked like for years, until I rewatched the series more recently. I'm thinking my memory just mashed up the multiple styles, since it's not far off from the animated version, but the front fork, tail, and cockpit are much closer to the Forever toy my younger brother had.
