  1. I wish I was that organized.. all of mine are essentially grouped by.. "category?" I guess you can call it that. They're scattered across a few rooms, and only stacked one-deep in closets most of the time, so I know exactly what's in every pot. I've definitely gone deep into the Tetris method, finding combinations of boxes that form even groupings. The assorted Bandai exclusive super pack boxes make great little spacers to complete a row.
  2. Do what I did, I spent some of my pandemic boredom trawling ebay for the old ships, and came away with a couple of the old Playmates ships NIB for about $20, and a handful of garage sale kitbash fodder copies for between $10-15.
  3. It's been a while, so I forget what the mixed-up parts actually causes. I think it's primarily just something that causes the ankles to not retract properly in fighter mode. You might not notice it at all if you keep the feet extended.
  4. Compared with Yamato/Arcadia, and their (almost) complete lack of stands, I understand why Bandai made them standard, but given the differences in approach, I still would much rather trade their ugly stands for some missiles for every release. I know it's a personal preference, but I would use missiles a lot more than any included stand. I keep mine primarily in fighter mode, so my "stand" tends to be the landing gear. If the stands weren't a visual abomination on the shelf, I might actually use them, but I neither appreciate their looks, nor trust their ability to actually hold anything stable. The first time I tried to stick my DX Roy on the fast pack stand mount, the adapter cracked, and I threw it back in the box forever. I would gladly pay Bandai extra to design an integrated stand mount that didn't require a pile of adapters for every mode. I can't believe it would actually be that difficult for them to just install a socket and pin system that'll mount the thing on a metal peg. And that goes for both Bandai, and Yamato/Arcadia. The adapters are just ducking fugly no matter how you slice it.
  5. Ok, this is something I never expected to see. I would totally buy up an entire line of Gridman kits. My younger brother had a few of the Samurai Syber Squad (yes it was spelled that way) toys, and I never watched the show, but they always had fun transformations/combinations.
  6. Honestly, anything's better than Bandai's standard "Let's make a generic mechanical-looking hexagon and include it with every release going forward." The mounting systems are bad enough, but they used to care enough to make matching bases, back when they did the SMS logos for the VF-25 series. Once they made the generic base for the 171s, they stopped doing anything else. I'll be curious to see if they bring back the SMS bases for the VF-25 re-releases.
  7. So I'm looking at these, and wondering if he printed his own decals for the shields. I did a quick size comparison, and the shields use a smaller set of numbers than even the smallest font included in the Hasegawa VF-31A decals. The bigger numbers on the right are pasted from below to give a better visual comparison for their size on the shield panel. Did Bandai include smaller decals in their 1/72 kits? I know I got one of the super-packed VF-31 kits, so maybe those decals would work better.
  8. I haven't looked for that one on shelves, but I might pick if up if I run by it. I do think the giant screw holes all over it need something to cover them though, they're kind of obnoxious. Probably would have been a lot less visible if they put the holes on the insides of the nacelles. Definitely glad to see some main-line Trek toys on shelves again though. It's been far too long.
  9. I'm in the same boat, no update on the one I'm waiting to go into my warehouse. Went to check earlier, since I'm holding off shipping my Wave 171 and Arcadia Tomohawk until it arrives, and they keep pestering me to ship. Not in any rush to receive any of those things though, so as long as they don't threaten to cancel my orders, I'm happy to wait and ship them together.
  10. Not sure if these were on anyone's radar, and I missed it, but just found these browsing at HLJ. https://www.hlj.com/1-144-scale-vic-viper-ver-gradius-v-poa38390 Same company that made the Raiden fighters, which were pretty small but very detailed. These should be about 6 inches long.
  11. Looks pretty decent, I think the only two real disappointments I have are the fugly feet (given for a Bandai YF-19, really), and the fact that they didn't even try to hide the waist section in fighter mode. That giant gray block between the intakes really sticks out.
  12. I wouldn't call that a sales tax, so much as a sanity tax. The differences do add up over time, but I've been happy to get a few releases from BBTS after missing the preorders. It's nice to have a backup, even if they get there a few months late.
  13. Honestly, if they're going to do FFVII, I kind of just want to see brick-built PS1-era polygon characters.
  14. If they start doing BTAS sets, I would really love to see the Batwing from that series.. or maybe a slightly stylized take on it. After seeing the official large scale production, I do appreciate the shape being more reminiscent of the original 1989 version, but I would love to see something like a cross between the BTAS version, and the Batman Forever proportions. Very rough 5-minute 3D doodle, but this was my mental image of what the BTAS Batwing looked like for years, until I rewatched the series more recently. I'm thinking my memory just mashed up the multiple styles, since it's not far off from the animated version, but the front fork, tail, and cockpit are much closer to the Forever toy my younger brother had.

Hah, no argument there. I don't want to get overly ranty about it, it really is a nice little midget VF-0. I do have to laugh at the idea that I almost wish all of Bandai's valks just had removable gear. It would make them so much easier to repaint.

Boy.. you know, It's baffling. Just got my VF-0S, and it's kind of incomprehensible how Bandai can't ever seem to manage a solid arm/leg/backpack alignment of a VF-1 style transformation, even after they borrow the entire mold from someone else. And yes, this is absolutely a scaled down Arcadia, which brings its own share of dumb issues with it. Overall.. it's decent, it looks good, and I like the fact that they added in all of the tampo that Arcadia couldn't be arsed to print on their bigger version. But overall it feels kind of like the worst of both worlds. Since they couldn't be bothered to re-engineer the legs to use the replacement gear doors Bandai usually includes, now you get microscopic versions of the functional Arcadia ones, which can't be opened without a needle, and all of that fun, plus Bandai's stupid obsession with silver gear, which is even less valid when it's abundantly clear that everything in Zero had white gear. Plus you get Arcadia's standard patented "death grip" stand mount which wraps around the entire underside of the thing. And no, they didn't buy the CAD with the fixed gunpod mount, so it still blocks the tailhook. I don't regret getting one, just because it's a nice desktop-sized VF-0, but good grief, how do they keep coming up with ways to make things worse than they should be?
  17. If the stupid Fanracer was actually 1/48, I would just say go looking for some kind of flying circus or crop duster pilot... but a real 1/48 pilot won't fit in that thing. I'm pretty sure there are some 3D printed options available though. If you go looking through the project sections, I think someone may have the model ready to print.
  18. Those hip joints really make it look like it's not even meant to be human anymore, more like some kind of mechanical body.
  19. I hadn't touched STO in a very long time, but I did enjoy the story. I might have to pick it up again, and see what they've done with it for old time's sake, it was a fun and quirky plot they had going on. Would have been a lot more enjoyable without the incredibly janky ground missions, but it was pretty passable otherwise.
  20. This was always my biggest dislike of them. I think they would have looked much better if they mounted sideways, and slipped above and below the wings like the VF-25's.
  21. I'll be happy to, but it won't be real.
  22. Yeah, I gave up and grabbed spare sets of packs on the secondary market to mod into theirs. Bandai just does not seem to care at this point.
  23. No notification from AE, but my account listed it as in stock, so I just shipped it, along with my 31AX armor, and HMR VF-0S. Probably going to be expensive, but hopefully I saved a little by waiting to ship them all at once.
  24. Hah, I thought they came out roughly the same. Guess I'll have to model and print myself a proper one someday.
  25. I'm still baffled why Bandai never made a transforming kit of this one. Maybe just too fragile? (that didn't stop them from making the 262s though.. )
