Nope, the red one is included in the Kakizaki release, along with his own stand.
-
Yeah, the mixed and matched shades are getting a bit hilarious to sort out. I never picked up the DYRL Armored 1J, so I don't think I have any of those gray TV missiles at all (and I still halfway hope we get a redone TV M&M). The Brownie came with tan missiles, and the VF-1D came with none at all, with no hardpointed wings. I might need to buy several extra Kakizakis just for the missiles and stands. Then there's the oddball Messer crossover scheme.. which is almost the same shade as the new 1J and VF-1S? They're slightly more blue, but definitely closer than the original stand-alone 1J release. They're just missing the red paint, with a black stripe like the Yamato 1/60 TV missiles, instead. It's all nonsense.

You know, it's silly, but Bandai's color shenanigans can drive me bats sometimes. Was just mixing and matching parts to get TV missiles on the TV VF-1S.. and the only ones that match are from the newest batch of armored VF-1Js. None of the other TV missiles are that same bright white, because the original VF-1J was that light gray shade. Definitely wishing the TV VF-1S with super packs had packed in some of the original TV missiles.. but maybe that's a good reason to buy a spare Max 1A when it releases. Have to see how the supply pans out. It's like they've weaponized OCD as a sales strategy.

These kits have never really been cheap, I think the VF-4 was around the same price when it came out. I can kind of understand it, they're pretty niche designs. Still wish Bandai would have made a transforming kit, but after the DX version they probably think the design is cursed. Still, I do appreciate having the different canopy and weapons. This was really the version I wanted all along.

Just got my first copy delivered from HLJ, and looks about as close to perfect as I could hope for. I have a second coming from BBTS, and I'll probably transform and armor-up the worse of the two. Had to do a little bit of surgery to get things to line up right, but nothing major. Biggest problem is the shoulder blocks not rotating fully into place against the backplate in fighter mode, which makes the hip gun panels offset, which screws with the wing gloves. I detached the arms (one screw each to remove them by the shoulder mounts), and massaged the rotation joint a little until I could push them all the way into place, and now everything lines up. Think my biggest criticisms are that the nosecone fits a little sloppy (expected, after hearing so many people see it, but it's not bad), and the hip gun panel joints are tight. Like, so tight I can't move them without the panels popping off, and having to move the ball manually before re-mounting them. Still, best-looking Alto I have by far, I'm glad to finally get one with a matte finish. Will probably stay in fighter forever. Edit: As a nerdy footnote, I'm also very happy to finally have a plastic clamshell packaged version for long-term yellowing comparisons. 👨🔬

Honestly, all of these insanely creative contraptions in the game are doing more to make me consider getting a switch than anything else ever has.

The Mandalorian - Star Wars webseries from Jon Favreau
Chronocidal replied to SMS007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The only way I want to see those stories on a screen at this point is as book-to-screen direct animated adaptations that make no attempt to bridge the EU to the canon universe.- 1438 replies

Ok, yeah, good to see them releasing separate versions, but have to agree with that video, the price for that Batmobile is obnoxiously high. Price per part is way over what it should be, and it's small, meaning a majority of the parts making it are also very small (you can see the layers of tiny plates building up the shapes). Those two really should have been in the same price range for that content. I actually have to wonder if there's some electronic lighting gimmick hidden in there that's boosting the price that high. Will say I definitely prefer the proportions of that Batwing to the giant one though, which is hilarious. I think I'd swap out the little triangle ears on the front for some longer spikes with space between them, but I'll be happy to grab one or two of those.

Would not surprise me in the slightest. Bandai teases anything and everything they can make easily, with no regard for what will ever actually get produced. It's been so long, they were probably part of the initial HMR announcement display. To be perfectly honest though, I'm really not interested in more "DYRL" HMR VF-1s, because they'll just be more of that boring gray plastic, instead of the bright white they used on the TV Hikaru VF-1S. At this point, it'd probably be more effective to just pick up extras of the 1S, and repaint the stripes.

Yeeesh. I'm still waiting for the first one I preordered there in October. What is even going on with that kit's supply?

And maybe without the white super parts, and using correct TV arm packs? That would honestly tempt me to buy another set.

Yamato VF-1 Virgin Road... Did it ever come with a gunpod strap
Chronocidal replied to Jasonc's topic in Toys
I don't believe any of the V.2 1/60 line came with a strap, I remember someone came out with custom-made ones later to add on. The 1/48 ones did however, both the Yamato and new Bandai DXs, so maybe he's thinking of one of them? I can't say for sure about the VR getting a reissue though. It's a niche enough design that I'm doubting it, I remember prices getting fairly high for it even before Yamato folded. -
How fast are we talking for these really big prints? I'm working on some printed cockpit components for an F-14 simulator pit for flying in DCS, and there are lots of models around to print the major instrument clusters. I've got a nice big enclosed Qidi X-Max with about a cubic foot of volume, so I'm not hurting for space, but the speed things tend to print at can get pretty long. I imagine it's related to the layer heights, but this piece I just printed (half of a flap lever box) took about 10 hours. The long side is about 9 inches, and I used a 0.1mm layer height on it. The main thing I learned to avoid is the type of printer with a translating bed. I know many of them rely on that, and my first printer had one, but it also destroyed a ton of my prints by shaking them back and forth until they broke loose. The one I have now has a head that moves in X and Y, with a bed that only moves up and down, and it's helped keep my taller prints nice and solid.

Hi-Metal R VF-1J Hikaru Armored Valkyrie Revival Version
Chronocidal replied to sh9000's topic in Toys
HLJ finally did wind up charging me early in the morning after I posted. Glad I waited, and didn't put in another order elsewhere, since the exchange rate worked in my favor. Wound up getting it for about $91 -
They are TWE items, so they do tend to take orders for longer. Even then though, I don't expect these are going to receive any incredible demand. Max at least has a few good scenes in his 1A (and one would HOPE this will spurn demand for a TV Q-Rau), but Kakizaki is something only completionists are going to care about, even with the included Hikaru stand.

I don't know if I ever would have personally made the investment to attend anything like that, but the thought of being able to have a meal/performance in any of the iconic locations in the movies sounds fantastic. Just to name a couple.. the celebration banquet on Yavin after the movie, the "dinner" Vader hosted for Han and Leia on Bespin, an Ewok barbeque, heck, even that goofy opera Anakin and Palpatine attended. There's just such an overflowing amount of potential bursting out of every seam for things like this, it makes it all the more baffling that they couldn't come up with something successful.

Hi-Metal R VF-1J Hikaru Armored Valkyrie Revival Version
Chronocidal replied to sh9000's topic in Toys
Eh. I only put an order in at HLJ when I saw they were around, but I'm just going to sit and wait on it. I won't be too broken up if I don't get one more Hikaru 1J. -
I don't think molds deteriorating can fully account for the nonsense I've seen in the past couple of releases I got. We're talking mis-drilled pinholes, and cockeyed assemblies that leave valks barely able to transform correctly. The molds aren't getting any younger, but I think there's a pretty severe shortage of skilled labor, across many industries.

Hi-Metal R Vermillion Platoon TV VF-1A Max, VF-1A Kakizaki, and VF-1J Hikaru
Chronocidal replied to sh9000's topic in Toys
This might be the most reasonable thing Bandai has ever done. Good way to sell Kakizaki too. Will definitely grab at least one of each from the usual vendors, once they pop. Maybe two. We'll have to see.- 126 replies

I'd love a bundle of Max and Kakizaki, but I'm up to my eyebrows in Hikaru 1Js, so I'd rather they just sell those two and include his stand. Makes too much sense for Bandai to do it, but I can dream.
-
Oh, so now they're finally getting around to Max and Kakizaki? I might try and grab one or two of these, depending on how insane they are to get, but I'm already overloaded for Hikaru 1Js. I'd really rather just have more DX versions.
-
Yeah, that would have been a nice thing to get. Unfortunately they have a nasty habit of completely flubbing those GWP exclusives. I'm not terribly upset about it personally, but they either need to get someone more competent at estimating demand and production quantities, or stop making those GWP sets exclusive in the first place.

To be fair, I don't think most of the Robotech writers or fanbase do either.
