  1. And I think the Sentinel one was about 6 inches, so are they going for a rough 1/24 scale? I love the idea of a bigger one, since it's such a small thing.. but not with those fighter proportions.
  2. That is absolutely gorgeous! Are any of those kits still available these days, or have they just gone out of production? The last time I looked them up, the Eaglemoss pre-built versions were cheaper than the kits.
  3. So this surprised me, probably just because I missed it during earlier Wonderfest clips about the Trek kits. Seems like they're re-releasing some super old kits with no changes (original Naboo Fighter, and what looks like their ancient 1983 snap-fit B-Wing), but also making a couple of new things. Why they aren't doing an X-Wing first is anyone's guess, but I hope they get around to making something that can actually compete with Bandai's molding. This Tie looks good built up, but the close-ups bring back memories of the mushy molding on the old AMT kits. It's not terrible, just not nearly as crisp as Bandai's molding got it.
  4. This is really my primary thought about this.. not that these sorts of games aren't fun to play, it just feels like a massive step back from something like Macross 30, which I would still love to get an official translation for. If these smaller titles are easier to produce, that's not a bad thing, and I hope they keep making more to bring more people into the franchise, but I'm hoping they eventually make the most of their licensing partners and get us a true Macross Ace Combat title.
  5. Wish there was something better to do with those head antennas, always makes me like the blue one. Reminds me though, I love transforming those little things, and should dig one out again to display.
  6. This.. actually cracks me up now that I realize it.
  7. Ok, but can we get T.C.'s chopper while we're at it? That would be huge, but awesome.
  8. Yeah, I'm still waiting on the same kit, but I'm in no rush to get more of them. I'm getting the impression that Bandai doesn't like HLJ very much for some reason Whatever the reason though, they seem to have gotten bumped to the end of the line for stock of that kit. Maybe an ordering snafu on the back-end?
  9. It was never actually "canon" to begin with, it was always secondary to the movies, and a few other things. There was always a strange hierarchy of how canon certain things were considered, and I think official games game after the movies.. which got weird when a bunch of games started pulling things straight from the EU. Biggest offender I remember was the first N64 Rogue Squadron game, since that had a few things pulled from that same Dark Empire comic series (the World Devastators, and the V-Wings). Being honest though, I don't think they made the wrong decision writing something different for the sequels (or at least, not compared with any of the other wrong decisions that were made). The EU had a good, long run of wildly varying quality, and there are certain beloved bits that people always wanted to see as movies, but I don't think the majority of the EU would work very well on film. For instance, people would love to see a Thrawn "trilogy." It's a nice thought, but I think there's more than three movies' worth of material in those books, and that's still ignoring all of the other Thrawn books that came later. Bottom line.. if they were going to make the Thrawn books into movies, I don't think they would have satisfied fans of the EU anyhow. Going in a unique direction might have had a better chance of success, just because it would make it easier for casual fans to get into. Sadly, we're past the point where they could have directly adapted the books, so whatever we get now is anyone's guess.
  10. I think those were actually from the Dark Empire comics series, but Disney has never been shy about yanking things from the expanded universe when they can't come up with something better themselves. This is just closing the circle on the fact that they pulled the name of the manufacturer for the new sequel trilogy X-Wings (FreiTek) from those same comics featuring the manufacturers of the E-Wing. It looks like they did tweak the ship though, since the original had a cannon where that droid was sitting, and that third upper cannon isn't in any of the pics that I've seen. If I'm remembering correctly, the droid in the original was a unique astromech that was permanently mounted to the interior of the ship, though the image below seems like it would still be able to be removed.
  11. I can't be the only person actually pissed that they didn't even bother to make an actual ROTJ A-wing. That's just stupid lazy. Late edit: It just hit me what they're trying to do with the paintschemes. If you're going to paint things like a poster image lit from a specific direction, wouldn't it make more sense to make your promo photos from that direction so people can see what it's supposed to look like?
  12. Sheesh.. not something I would have expected to see in this lifetime. Actually tempted to pick up a second, but I really don't need more YF-29s.
  13. I'd be really interested to see them display the other modes.
  14. For all of the light/fluffy idol bits, Frontier got dark in the closing arcs, and the movies even ramped that up. I'd throw myself firmly in the bracket that loves Plus and Zero, but Frontier was not lacking in what made me like them, and I do think it's up there with the original series in terms of story and characters. They managed to make a compelling and mostly mature storyline with high schoolers. Delta... just wasn't that. Somehow they managed to make actual paramilitary mercs feel more like kids than Frontier did. It had a lot of potential (mostly wasted), and an interesting setup, but the characters were painfully underdeveloped, and the plot went most of the same places Frontier did, with none of the charm or grace (or battroid/gerwalk combat). Now.. Frontier had an unfair musical advantage, because Yoko Kanno is just Yoko Kanno. But it wasn't Delta's music that dragged it down. I'd be perfectly happy if this new series is produced on the same level as Frontier, but I hope they spend a bit more time developing the characters and story this go-around.
  15. The AC kits weren't that expensive in the first place, they've just been out of print for so long that the prices have climbed with what seems to be no upper limit. Before the re-release announcement, the White Glint kit had been going for upwards of $250 on Amazon, but the re-release is under $50 USD.
  16. I want to see them make this as a prop to display behind Skeletor, with an optional arm mount.
  17. That thing looks.. quite a bit like something out of Yukikaze artwork, now that I look at it. Not the anime, but the novel covers.
  18. Some people here did want the extras cut out, but I think Bandai thought they needed to include them all to stay competitive with Arcadia. I would have been happy to have them separately.. BUT.. that would have induced a mass panic bulk buy of the missile packs just to get some pylons and missiles to put on every other Bandai DX release. That will still probably happen if they release a separate pack. Also, the biting irony is, no, it's not actually cheaper than the 2018 version. Whether that's due to some pre-order bonus or not, I can't say, because those don't show up, but the listing on HLJ still shows the full set at 25,000 yen, which came to about $225 at the time. The new one has a list price of 26,400. Cheaper for us.. not so much in Japan, and definitely not from BBTS, which is even more expensive than the original full set. This.. pretty much says it all.
  19. Now with half the content, and added international licensing fees!
  20. Link for this one is up on BBTS if anyone missed all the imports, but man the price hurts on this one. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/246315?o=10&utm_source=Marketing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=marketing&utm_content=
  21. YF-19 is up on BBTS if anyone's still looking, but youch, $255. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/246315?o=10&utm_source=Marketing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=marketing&utm_content= I don't have my original record from the YF-19 Full Set purchase, but that was 25000 yen in September of 2018, when the exchange rate was roughly 110 yen to a dollar.. meaning yeah, I probably paid less for the full set than this one. That hurts.
  22. They're both too big, and the heels are entirely the wrong shape. They molded them at some bizarre angle, and they don't close.
  23. I'm really curious who was asking for a Raiden/Gradius schmup mashup for Macross after the past few games have been nothing remotely like that. Or maybe that's just all they could get funding for? Is it supposed to be for the mobile market?
  24. Yeah, I am happy to see them ditching the styrofoam, at least mostly. I do appreciate the rigidity it gives the packages, but otherwise I would just rather get rid of the chance of it causing yellowing somehow.
  25. I think I'm far more interested in seeing Macross mods for Ace Combat than anything like that. That looks like a cheap mobile game. Maybe someone will get a good Macross 30 port to the PC via emulation, and do a fan translation.
