  1. Also keep in mind, a large amount of most valks' forward hip motion comes from the gerwalk joint, not the hip itself. For whatever reason, they decided not to pose it using that.
  2. I would be all over a re-release of that version, or any other version they would make. None of the Art Asylum/Diamond Select releases even approached that amount of detail.
  3. I can't say they ever really bothered me that much, but I agree, the full-sized tails would look better. I do think the shorter ones are canon though? I know the HMR VT-1 has the same shortened ones that the Yamato design used. The only one I know of that didn't was the original 1/55 Chunky, and it caused the boosters to be notably tilted. I hope you're right, for multiple other reasons though (and I really really do want them to do a 1/48 VT-1 ). Adapting the swappable tail mechanic as the standard design for the DX VF-1 would open up a lot of fun options for making alternate tail markings, especially if they released some sort of blank set for customization.
  4. Oh I would absolutely believe they would do this. This is just the second level of "screw you" to the people who complained about their "artistic decision" (read: production screwup) with regards to the backwards numbering. The first step was when they included the decals to make both tails match, with numbers both backwards and forwards, just in case you wanted them all wrong. They really will go to any length to avoid admitting they screwed up. They're including both copies this time to cover their backsides, because otherwise, not including the incorrect one would imply they were admitting that it wasn't correct. This is just a giant pile of lies at this point, all because someone got a number backwards, and they decided instead admitting it, they would just run with it for multiple releases like it was intentional. If they wanted to make this truly right, they should be issuing replacement tails for every single stupid backwards numbered release they put out. I bet you a bunch of people will be trying to offload the replacement tails for insane amounts, too. Thanks for nothing again, Bandai.
  5. I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if the parts were always fully molded, and Bandai just glued everything shut to save on painting until they decided to release the clear version. If the super/strike packs weren't so freaking rare and expensive, I'm sure more people would have cut them open by now to find out for sure.
  6. For comparison though.. the current conversion puts that at about $350. Maybe my sense of value has inflated with the times, but that doesn't even seem that outrageous to me. You won't find one for anything close to that on ebay, but a quick check on Mandarake shows one copy of the VF-1S for 38,000 yen, and a previously sold set of packs for 11,000, so that's almost even. I'm not going to pay that much for a fixed tail marking and some clear plastic parts I would never use, but I have no idea how difficult these will be to get through any of the usual sources, if they're even available. I have no idea how this lottery is going to work.
  7. I have to laugh at their assumption that they'll have any stock to sell, but I would be curious if they pull it off. Anyone want to roll the dice with Luna Park? https://www.lunapark.store/product-page/dx-chogokin-vf-1s-strike-valkyrie-ichijyo-hikaru-movie-ver-mechanic-edition?utm_campaign=bc86ee0d-0427-4865-a327-de1136f1e473&utm_source=so&utm_medium=mail&cid=3cb4813b-ea08-46ac-a1f9-6603f5d43a6b Hefty mark-up, but might still cheaper than getting a first-run version and strike packs.
  8. The TOS one is around $40, so I'd expect this to be sold for about the same. I'm waiting to see if they improve any of the issues it has first, but if the electronics are any good, I might buy one just to kitbash the parts with one of the old versions I have disassembled.
  9. Yeah, it does look like they quietly corrected the issue when they got to the Roy 1S. Never said a word about it, because doing that would be admitting their mistake.
  10. Remember, the super/strike parts have always had the details inside. Bandai just decided that they were going to glue the whole mess shut. At this point? I'm fairly certain that they've developed a way to use nerd rage and tears to power their factories, and they keep releasing these sorts of things when they need a boost in productivity.
  11. Not really, the comparison is too depressing. I would wait for a new prototype before doing any comparisons anyhow, because that display model is a limp ragdoll and falling to pieces. (And there is no way those whimpy arms are going to compare favorably to any lineart.)
  12. That is honestly just bizarre.. Why would you make such a terrible image to advertise your product? Usually the promo images look better than the final product.. Looks like someone made a photoshop layer of the windows, and slapped it on the hull without checking for alignment... taking some cues from Eaglemoss, eh Playmates? To be fair.. the Art Asylum/Diamond Select ones were much closer to models, and they were definitely for a different market, so I don't expect this to compete at all, but this is looking like a pretty big step down from even the old 90s version. I completely believe that button placement though, it's right in-line with what they did on the TOS version.. namely, huge and ducking fugly.
  13. Yeah, I'm still waiting on a PF VT-1. A shame they never got around to it. Personally, I'd rather see them put out a new YF-21, and maybe VF-11B for the 30th of Macross Plus. Even a re-release would be great, and help quell the insane collector prices those are going for now, especially if it gives them an excuse to make some VF-11Cs again.
  14. I want to say the figures are roughly the same scale as a Figma? The Roy VF-25 figure is a little over 6 inches tall. The fighters are a little bigger than 1/100 though, based on the 1/100 fighter mode kits. Without comparing to the fictional length, the 1/100 is about 7.5 inches, while the VFG version is 8.5, making it about 1/88, which if I remember correctly, is almost dead on for the actual scale of the HMR VF-1s. The fighters are a little off-scale and off-model though, since their proportions have been tweaked. The VF-25's legs are quite a bit chunkier, while the wings look a bit stubby. Overall, they make pretty good fighter mode kits in general, if you just want something in HMR scale. The super VF-25G there is incredibly solid compared to the Bandai 1/72 kit. I've also got a couple of the Kairos variants to build, including that fancy VF-1D-inspired training scheme, which I love.
  15. Please, just build new heels for it, those are painful to look at. Seriously though, if he can pull that off, I don't see any reason Bandai can't make a near perfect transformation HMR version.
  16. My guess is they fixated on the idea of an opening chest for the pilot to get in and out, rather than from under the head, and turned the windscreen into a hatch to make it work. I'm not completely against the idea, but I need to see a finished product without all of the rough guesswork. I don't want to judge the overall aesthetic until then, but I do get the same impression, the design has a western-styled look to the detailing. Can't say it really bothers me though, I think the overall look is close enough to the Sentinel design to satisfy my need for a "big" Legioss.. which, until the Sentinel release, I really didn't care about much in the first place, since it always felt like a clunky design.
  17. Holy crap, they actually made a 3x3 to 4x4 transitional cone segment! Only been waiting for that for.. oh, I don't know.. close to thirty years at this point. Love that they made the gear retract, I am definitely in for.. at least one. Also.. that stand is freaking classy. I love it.
  18. So.. couple of odd things I'm seeing. First, no lower phaser strip at all. Second, the windows on the lower surface of the saucer look photoshopped in. In fact, they look copy/pasted all over. Same for the screw holes. I don't trust anything about that image, in fact, because that's a staggering amount of blatant photoshopping. What I am seeing though, is that a few key details look close enough to the original toy that I'm thinking it'll be closer once we see an actual product. The bussard collectors are still that thin shape sticking out, rather than a dome, the screw holes are generally in the same place as the original, and the shape of the deflector under that gold photoshop dish looks like it has the same angled ribs as the original. It also looks like they replaced the original sliding battery door with a new design that screws shut, and added a stand mount under the deflector. I'm not expecting this to replace my old ones in the slightest, but I will wait and see what sort of shape the final product is in. They will need to redesign the saucer so it can detach, so that's going to rearrange a lot of the construction. At the very least, I expect to get some fun toys for potential kitbashes.
  19. Yeah, that's insanely depressing to see.. but I guess it's too much to expect a store with such lenient return policies to bother to check whether the thing returned is the same as what was purchased.
  20. Oh wow. Ok.. I might bite on that one, depending on the detailing and construction. And I would be over the moon at an "All Good Things" edition. I'm going to make the assumption that this will not replicate the original multi-button sound board that made it such a great toy, though.. but if the molds are the same, I will absolutely swap the boards out and build myself an updated version with LED lighting.
  21. What even is going on there? Massive production snafu? Or maybe worth picking up as a collector oddity?
  22. Of the same mind really. I think once they get a proper posable prototype it'll drastically improve the presentation in battroid, at least. If it turns into a lemon like the Sv-262, I might pick up a handful for modding and experimentation. I really think giving it longer arms would help a lot of my problems with it in both fighter and battroid.
  23. Judging by the shape of the lower arms and the angle they stow in fighter mode, no, I think that's exactly how the gunpod is going to look. Those arms are really deep. They're quite a bit lower than the underside of the legs here, almost halfway down the ventral fins.
  24. Yep, they've posted a couple of pics with it open, I think. Edit: Found it on the previous page.
  25. Yeah, this is even on the larger size of what I'd really like. I do love the Riobot for being compact and easy to display, but it's definitely smaller than I'd like. I feel like whatever scale would get it the size of a 1/60 VF-1 would be pretty ideal, but I'm not going to turn down a bigger one.. provided I can afford it.
