  1. So, I jus had a rather hilarious thought. The rebranding seems like they're focusing a lot on their line of figures and dolls and such... most of which are rather well endowed, so to speak. We've never heard anything one way or another about a MAXL. Wouldn't it be amusing if the rebranding that focused on these figures was actually a required development, and when we finally get Mylene's valk, its a crossover perfect transformation macross branded VMF50? Maybe they needed special arrangements to produce a macross item with roboboobies. It might explain why we never got an accurate Miria pilot figure.
  2. Eh, I was going to wait as well, but I don't mind grabbing another VF-19P before they potentially disappear. If they go on sale later, I'll grab two more. I just can't get enough of that mold.
  3. I'd agree, except the pieces I need to replace are maybe a couple bucks worth of plastic. Plus, I don't need an entire spare VF-17 sitting around without a right shoulder, just so my D can have one. Eh, it's not pretty, but after posting that I tried to put everything back together as best I could, and it's sort of holding together. I just cannot find any way to force those two halves of the upper shoulder together, as if something is in the way. I wound up filling the gap with superglue, thinking I might have cut away some of the plastic when I cleaned the pieces, but now that shoulder piece is actually too thick, because it's interfering with the way the hip and that little triangle flap sit. Not to mention, superglue and black plastic is never a good combination. The parts are all fogged up.
  4. Freaking hell... anyone have a busted VF-17 I can scavenge the right arm from? My right shoulder is pretty much trashed, because something went wrong with the molding, and it will not stay on. I fortunately got the screw cover off the main shoulder piece, so I can get the entire arm apart, but the little folding triangular part with the trap door is shot. In fact, the metal shoulder piece itself might be malformed, because I cannot get the shoulder to glue together around it. It's like it's too wide. I've tried every freaking which way to get this thing to glue back together, and nothing works. The parts just will not touch enough to get a good glue surface.
  5. The problem I have with the hips is that while you're supposed to rotate the hip bars forward and lock them in place by pressing them in, the doors are in the way. You either wind up squeezing the doors to the point they want to detach, or you leave the hip mount entirely floppy.

Annnnnd.... Now I seriously want to hear a Sharon Apple/GlaDos crossover album.I don't know which would be creepier... Hearing Sharon sing "Still Alive," or GlaDos singing "Borderline" and "Wanna Be An Angel."
  7. (in Vader voice): Impressive.. most impressive. Looks awesome. Yeah, probably about time I ordered this and grabbed that VF-0D set finally. Do your parts work interchangeably with the originals? I'm wondering if I could mix and match your faceplate with the original head cover to simplify the matching process. Curious though, what's causing the head to pop up in the rear some? Looks like excess plastic is hanging down under the cover in one pic. Not a big deal, I'm just picky about keeping things streamlined.
  8. I think it's just that they messed with the original proportions of the ship soooo much. They squashed the lower hull, then pushed the saucer so far back, the entire thing looks unbalanced.
  9. Actually, I think the entire reason the lower ones are mounted on that pull-out tab is so they don't absolutely have to be removed for transformation. I'm not sure pulling them out on that piece is necessary for transformation, but it makes it much easier to do if they stay in those mounts.
  10. I might beef up the tabs with some superglue as well someday, but so far, mine manage to stay on well enough. Honestly.. as far as replacement parts are concerned, I think NY seems far too preoccupied to do anything. I got a nice enough reply from them about my missing VF-25G crotch plate, but given how much Bandai seems to care about overseas customers, I doubt they're going to bother helping. You may have better luck contacting someone who lives in Japan, and asking them to request the replacement parts for you. An old friend of mine from high school is currently in Okinawa, so I might just see if he can request the part locally for me. Edit: Ok, this might just be a problem with older browsers, but the quick reply option will not save any kind of formatting applied to posts. I have to go back and edit them before the paragraph breaks appear.
  11. Really.. that's kind of my issue with all of Bandai's valks. They just aren't pleasant to transform. It feels like a chore to get things lined up and in place correctly, and you're worried the entire time that you're doing it wrong, and something will scratch, or break, or fly across the room. The VF-171 is a little better than the VF-25s I think, just because the transformation isn't so fidgety with the torso, but they seem to absolutely adore overcomplicating everything with overly intricate mechanisms and nearly unworkable motions. The hips on the 171 in particular.. they just don't work. I can't understand why something designed in CAD would have issues with parts needing to occupy the same space, but Bandai's designers managed to pull it off. I've nearly snapped off the front gear doors several times, because there isn't room for them behind the hips. Fortunately, I mostly bought these for the fighter modes anyway, so I'm perfectly happy displaying them this way. But while I pick up and fiddle with my various Yamatos frequently, the Bandai ones just feel so much more fragile and delicate, despite all the die-cast they use, which only seems to make them less sturdy, because the added weight inevitably winds up contributing to everything flopping around when the joints go bad.
  12. Not sure I remember entirely correctly, but I think the refit 1701 had vertical and horizontal components to the core. I remember at least one scene involving the vertical core, but then there also being a long segment running the length of main engineering. And really, if you're running the core lengthwise down the keel of the ship, it should be relatively easy to just eject the whole thing directly backwards, which is what I think happened in the reboot.
  13. Actually, considering all that went on during TNG, the D probably has the absolute worst record of all of them. I'd love to see how many times that ship was actually destroyed over the course of the series. Off the top of my head, it blew up three times in All Good Things, a couple during that energy transfer mishap with the Romulans, at least one blew up when all the parallel versions showed up in one spot of space.. it definitely blew up when the Enterprise C escaped.. and let's not forget the "once a commercial break" explodaganza involving the time loop, which was I think four times on-screen, but supposed to be closer to 20 in-universe.
  14. Much as I would hate to see another Enterprise axed this year, I'm plenty happy saying goodbye to the first JJprise. I just hope when she gets reborn, she's more recognizable. And hopefully, not so freaking huge... the lack of any sense of scale, be it ships, transporter tech, or galactic travel distances, really screwed with suspension of disbelief in the first movie.

I just hope this game adapts a more standard use for the right analog stick. I don't exactly want to say they should just use the same controls as Ace Combat games since these will obviously have more functions to account for, but your standard trigger based throttle and rudder controls would also help. Ideally, they'd just let us customize the control layout, but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath. Long as we get a camera control, it shouldn't be too bad. Being an RPG-ish game might help that, since you'll probably have folks who just want to fly around looking at the pretty scenery. I actually am looking forward to the RPG type progression though, since besides the story, it gives you something to work toward in terms of available valks. As long as the upgrade/research/material gathering/etc isn't too tedious, it might be interesting trying to unlock the valk development trees without a translation guide. Turning in a pile of random junk you've picked up and finding out you just unlocked some new feature can be fun.
  16. Only problem with the whiskers.. in 1/72? Those things would be the size of salamis sticking out of the nosecone. They're huge. I understand wanting to make a plane look "modern," or more "realistic," but in this case they just look out of place. Not to mention they'd probably get snapped off by the legs. Did any of the lineart have anything like that? I mean, there are a multitude of standard antenna types that many aircraft have, but you don't see those on the various valks, and it makes plenty of sense when you consider the leap in technology. I just hope they're some artifact of the rapid prototyping process. At least if they do wind up in the kit, they'll be really easy to remove.
  17. Yep, definitely. I think you'd actually be hard pressed to find any non-V.2 1/60ths outside of something like ebay, or other online auctions, and they shouldn't really be anywhere near that price.
  18. I love how someone in the comments pointed out that their instrument panel looks like it has a car stereo faceplate glued to it.
  19. Eh, no worries, congrats on picking up a sweet deal. I'll just wait for the 19P to hit discount at HLJ before grabbing the rest of my squadron. Depending on how popular it has (or hasn't been), it might be anywhere from a few months to a year.
  20. Wow, yeah, where from? If they're that low already, I might need to go grab a couple more.
  21. I guess what I'm thinking is that Luke was only told that they were separated and hidden as children. He doesn't know that Leia doesn't remember her real mother. Neither of them knows the circumstances of their birth, so he might be under the impression that Leia did know their real mother at some point. I always thought Luke was just digging for hints about what his real mother was like from someone who he thought may have known her. I see what you mean, though, as far as why Luke would ask her if she remembered her real mother, if she never knew she was adopted. I don't think it's a huge leap to think that Bail Organa remarried though, in which case she would have had a step mother, and probably still considered Breha her real mother. But yeah, his goal in the whole thing was obviously trying to lead her to that conclusion. I've just never had trouble assuming she had always considered her adoptive parents as her real parents. Given they were trying to hide her, it would make sense to keep up the illusion. I see why it's a stretch, but I guess my point is there are too many unknown factors to actually consider it a serious problem with the prequels. I can think of a few ways things could have worked for it to still make perfect sense, you just have to assume a bunch of things we never saw.
  22. You have to remember how little they both knew about their parents. Neither of them knew when (or even if to some extent), their actual mother died, but Leia thought she did. For all Luke knew, she could have been their real mother, with Luke being separated from them before he got to know her. If she hadn't died when Leia was still young, she may have eventually revealed to her that she was adopted, but it looks like she never learned that from her parents. Given her status in the Senate, the less she knew the better, so they may have never intended to tell her at all.
  23. You know, if he could make that part, it might kill two or three birds with one stone. Besides being required to lock into the hip bar, that piece also serves as a secondary attachment point for the actual intakes. Considering that he's already made new intakes for the VF-0D mod kit, making that piece would let him fine-tune the connection with the intakes.
  24. Neither of them actually remembered their real mother. Luke grew up with his aunt and uncle so he already knew his parents were gone, but Leia didn't learn she was adopted until Luke brought it up at that point. Bail Organa's wife was supposed to have died a few years after they adopted her, so that's who Leia was thinking of.
  25. I would say that's an option, but unfortunately, Yamato went back to their old tricks of gluing screw covers over everything. I looked at what it would take to remove the ankle sections, and you'll have to take the entire leg apart somehow. Unless you just want to remake the ball itself, which actually might not be too hard... Hmm. If you could mold a brand new ball for the joint, and get that to fit into the foot socket, you might be in luck. Problem is, we don't know what the problem really is. We don't know if the ball is misshapen, or if it's the socket, or even both. If you really want to fix this problem, you might need to make an entirely new foot section.
