  1. So that's what happened with the pepto! I'd assumed the other direction, and the makeup team on NextGen just used normal fake blood instead of pepto-bismol because of time constraints and it being readily available in their "normal" stock.
  2. Doubtful. Trek has very few episode novelizations. Aside from the animated series, I can only think of one(DS9's "Far Beyond The Stars"). Not really per se. He believed people could be better than they are, able to set aside petty and stupid differences and just get along with each other. And that science would inevitably solve problems of limited resources. Property rights are meaningless when property is infinite, though certainly people are shown to own things(often of sentimental value). No one I can recall has been asked to sacrifice autonomy. Except the robots, but they're legally real boys with real rights.
  3. An unfortunate reminder to use your parking brake.
  4. I thought the first one was pretty okay. There were problems, but not dealbreakers. The second was godawful terrible and I didn't see 3 because 2 was so bad.
  5. Also fair. I confess to not thinking of the character's pre-Prime life most of the time.
  6. Having had some time to think about this... I think Megatron is done much better than Optimus. it is a shame, because I like Optimus better as an adaptation of the toy, but not the character. I know the immediate response is "but there's so many more obvious callbacks to the original Optimus design", but bear with me. The characterization conveyed by the Megatron design is one of self-assured power and contempt. I think it is reasonably on-brand for Megatron. The design of Optimus Prime conveys... well, "turbo-revvin' young punk". It lacks the maturity and presence of it's inspiration, and feels more like Hot Rod in a halloween costume. While I can understand a desire to not tick too many of the same design notes, I feel Optimus should also exude a sense of strength, albeit one carried without the forceful projection of Megatron's presentation. If she's going to have a bare midriff anyways... make her buff. Give her abs some definition, which would also provide a slight homage to the radiator, which is so iconic it is even present in Primes that don't turn into trucks. It also seems obvious to me that Megatron should wear boots, but what do I know? I would've given Optimus a set of rugged construction boots, and Megatron tall black leather boots. I do really like how both characters' hair manges to evoke the head shapes of the original. Which is appreciably more difficult with Optimus. And the carry-size trailer is a fantastic detail.
  7. I honestly expect them to stop with Optimus and Megatron. But if they do more, I am absolutely interested.
  8. Well THAT doesn't sound dangerous at all! I'd always sort of assumed the FAST packs used hydrogen-fueled rockets, if only because any facility operating Valkyries already has to have a ready supply of large quantities anyways.
  9. Wait, the FAST pack rockets use solid fuel?! I have somehow never registered that until now.
  10. And hung them on the sides of the legs? I think they did.
  11. Pilot's probably comfy the whole time. Hooray for inertial management systems!
  12. As far as alternate timelines go, I believe Macross is supposed to follow the "real world" up until 1999, when an alien space ship completely failed to crash into Earth-One. At that point, things diverge rapidly.
  13. Chekhov's Guns is usually the most dangerous shop in town.
  14. Nope. One of the colony planets was accidentally discovered by a single scotsman when the fold drive on his delivery shuttle malfunctioned. The entire planet of McDonald was named in his honor.
  15. Or they could get the rights to all 3 and make Bionic Six an explicit canon sequel instead of a heavily-implied we-can't-legally-say-it sequel.
  16. That does look quite lovely, gray tail aside. I wound up with Gigapower's Grassor, and with the in-box smoked plastic bits it scratches my Slag itch, aside from not having ports to mount the missile launcher on his shoulder or a hinged bib. For a full set of dinobots, GCreation looks like my road. You need a LOT of space for a full set of Gigapower dinos, and I don't love the team THAT much. Really, there's multiple good options for Dinobots.
  17. I'm waiting for Bungie to get out of this deal and get bought by Nintendo so they can complete the "owned by all the hardware companies" achievement.
  18. This seems to largely be an unavoidable side effect of the cover plates on top of the lion legs. To get the cylindrical look of the cartoon, the plates would have to cut through the space where the legs exist. And to fully enclose the legs, the top of the lion has to extend out farther than usual to create a "fender". It still HAS curves, but they aren't nearly as pronounced, and the plates aren't helping matters. It would do a lot if the green plates were styled appreciably different to the red plates.
  19. Same. But I love their look. In general, I really want toys that look like the originals but bend like the new ones.
  20. You can't deny that's a sexy beastbot.
  21. With the way they use missiles in Macross? Ammo. Lots of ammo.
  22. Jesus! Can they really show that kind of explicit content on TV in Japan?
  23. Toy accuracy gang unite! Matchbox/Popy style or bust!
  24. Question : do zentradi ships have anything analogous to catapults, or do their mechs just burn reaction mass to get moving towards their targets? Probably should, but that's a really long drive. And what if the next galaxy's got their own terminally-irresponsible previous residents? Or worse, teminally-irresponsible CURRENT residents!
