  1. Lotta good choices in here. We are clearly a community with excellent taste in cinema.
  2. I think I'm gonna get Mocha and pose her near Nicee, but with different loadout. Huge backpack on one and huge longbow on the other, or something.
  3. Because the way the Daily Mail wrote the article makes it sound like something important was lost instead of one of many prerelease copies.
  4. You know, what strikes me the most here is how much more they GET He-Man than the show that is a sequel to the actual He-Man. That transformation sequence is not Generic Magical Girl Henshin #7. It is a thing of power and violence, and while it leans too far towards Hulk(there is a sense of uncontrolled violence to it that rings false), it still feels like THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE is arriving, not "Genderbent Sailor Moon". And just as I was getting ready to complain that they forgot the reverb AGAIN, the transformation sequenced finished off with him repeating the final phrase with suitably thick amounts of reverb. They REMEMBERED. With what they were going for, I'd make some tweaks, but I don't feel like the entire thing is totally off-base. Mostly, I feel like the timing of certain events is off. I'd have distant thunder when he first unsheathes the sword. The wind and clouds moving in wouldn't happen until after Adam says "Grayskull", as the magic starts to take hold in earnest. It isn't what I feel is truly an important change, but I'd also add reverb a little bit at a time as he progresses through the words, and have the glowy gold light effect around the sword start dim and suddenly flare up to blindingly bright at the end of the words. This this is a seizing of destiny, the moment Adam stops being a prince and starts being a hero. I think these minor tweaks would emphasize the importance of what's happening(and make the glowing holographic scroll look less silly). ... I'd also change the art style COMPLETELY, but... that's less a minor tweak and more "the show's character design is stupid and ugly".
  5. He ABSOLUTELY did not have the only copy. He didn't even have the master copy.
  6. Agreed, but it is a common issue. Star Wars and Transformers are among the very few franchises where the enemy toys consistently sell in any appreciable volume.
  7. Robotech: Giving the fans what they want since... ummm... hang on, we'll get back to you. Seriously, it is completely inexcusable that they're pulling a Star Wars and refusing to release "real Robotech" and forcing people to settle for the version with scenes that weren't there and sounds that weren't used.
  8. Discotek only has so much money, and to be frank they're the only probable licensee. I can't guess as to what Big West's lioensing engine looks like, but I can think of lots of reasons that it would take more than four months from conclusion of the legal saga to release of BluRays.
  9. Sorry, I just threw up a bit reading that.
  10. Only consideration for the band's fans holds her back.
  11. That explains Ed, but why is Ein on a leash? Edit: Okay, serious talk. That picture of the yellow couch... there's a frickin' CAGE behind the couch. They have a kennel cage for Ein(with a record player atop it, for some reason). The ONLY way that is going to work is if as soon as everyone turns around Ein flips the latch and saunters out, and there's a running joke where people keep being mad at other people because no one in this crew can remember to LOCK THE DOG CAGE.
  12. It seems like the point of those was actually "Volkswagen ordered us to double our sales, so I guess we need to make cheaper and rore practical cars" I firmly believe all Countaches are robots in disguise, so we stayed on-topic!
  13. And that was shortly after Volkswagen bought them. I'd wager that their owners are pressuring them to make reasonable sports cars that can easily be mass-produced, and follow trends(there's a friggin' Lambo TRUCK), and hit a target for new model introduction. They won't let them just be crazy kids doing awesome things.
  14. I hope it is a worthy successor to the original.
  15. So here's a random thought. Thanks to the other thread, I was thinking about the Omnibots. And all three of them were differentiated from the "Autobot Cars" by one thing: being mail-order exclusives... okay, they were differentiated by TWO things: that AND having a "combat vehicle" mode where they turn into cars with guns like they just broke out of MASK. And I realized something: there's ONE Transformer from that initial group that made it into the mainline, but has the same "not a triple-changer, but has a battle car" mode. I believe that if the Omnibots had been part of the mainline and in the cartoon and the catalog instead of trapped in "fake transformer" mail-order hell with a bunch of other losers(and Reflector, the little sneaks!), that the Omnibots subgroup would've been made of Downshift, Overdrive, Camshaft, and Tracks. Seriously, the only reasons I can see Tracks not being an Omnibot are that he wasn't trapped in the mail-order promotion, and his weapons weren't chromed.. wait, maybe he WAS an Omnibot, and got kicked off the team because his guns weren't shiny! That's my headcanon going forward. You may applaud my profound insight at your leisure. Thank you for coming to my TED talk your time.
  16. Just saw a render turn up, courtesy of one of the toy retailers spamming me. I am genuinely impressed that they made the doors both open like car doors AND fold out like wings.
  17. I did a few years ago, last time it was in theaters. Still have the folded miniposter they gave out with it. Don't think I'll be doing it again this year, though it WAS a pleasing experience.
  18. Yup. They were mail-order only, and unlike Reflector didn't manage to squeeze under the wire into the fiction and thus remained untainted by ugly cartoon redesigns. They all looked pretty rad to me looking in the catalog, though. They had the same sorta deal Tracks has going on, where they turned into weaponized cars like they forgot this isn't MASK. Lasers flip outta bumpers, missiles pop up from trunks and doors... one even turned into a flying car "just like Tracks". But how's a young boy supposed to get his parents to buy him a Transformer that isn't even on the shelf at the store?
  19. I'd call it a station wagon, if it had more windows. A perfect fit for the mature, responsible 80s grownup that Rodimus is (trying hard to be). I'm impressed overall, though. Rodimus doesn't normally do much for me, but if I happen to see this one on shelves through some miracle, I'll probably pick him up. (I also like the beefy proportions of Primes Rodimus, though they aren't accurate to anything. I did not pick that one up, however, as the engineering was a mess.)
  20. A. That's hot. B. No one's gonna try and reduce THIS guy to bland and weirdly puffy toon accuracy! For once, my preferences are unarguably the right way to do it! C. A white 80s Toyota is gonna trigger all kinds of Initial D crossover jokes(and yes, I know he's the wrong Toyota).
  21. It is irrelevant to anything, but I really like the opaque wheels behind the transparent chest, and am a little sad that the release version won't be like that.
