To play it safe, when it comes to reprinting images, you willhave to ask the appropriate rights holder (in your territory of publication would be safest) to get permission. Also refer to copyright law - specifically the sections about "for review purposes" etc.. Even safer would be to commission your own artwork and limit screenshots to actual reviews (and even then, limit the number of images to a bare minimum). For some more ideas on the legal aspect, here's the legal notice for my translations site: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Legal.php (and its twin: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/About.php ) Both of those were sourced from sites like Jammer's Reviews (Star Trek and more), Gateworld (Stargate) and other sites. It wasn't written by a lawyer and has not been challenged, but the one common thread throughout it is that it isn't for profit nor to take profit away from someone else (both of those are the ones that set lawyers off). I've also deliberately avoided including images as it's a lot smaller a headache not to deal with it (I'm in Japan and trying to follow the Japanese legal copyright code as much as possible, and they don't have "fair use" provisions in it. As near as I can interpret, what that site is doing is in the same legal grey zone as Doujinshi). Anyhow, do as much research as you can for the legal aspects. The broader range of legal notices you reference, the better. You may want to keep it simpler (especially at the beginning): 1 e-mail for submissions, 1 for feedback. Once things get rolling, you can think about setting up other things (free e-mail takes what, 2 minutes to set up? Drop-boxes take how long? Be careful to keep your energies focused on what's important -> getting the finished product out.) It doesn't matter as long as it can be exported into HTML (pretty much every text editor does that nowadays) or PDF (especially if it's graphic intensive). If you use a non-universal format, you're bound to loose readers. The other thing to keep in mind is how this is going to be published. Is it going to be hosted on a site where readers visit and they navigate around the 'zine like a traditional website? (a lot of text in HTML with few images (like my site = low bandwidth), or a 'virtual bookshelf' where readers download the 'zine/newsletter, and the scroll threw it consecutively (which also enables the other extreme of being full of raster graphic images and could be bandwidth intensive - PDF being the way to go)? Both have there merits.

RM++ Project: Episode: M31A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 31 "Satan Doll": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - great commentary and description of the Destroid team's hard fight, and the Operator Camp topic is insightful. Episode: 7 42A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 42 "The Great Desperate Capture Operation": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - most interestingly, they mention an 8th Protodevilun, the "Space Fold Evhil"...

Agreed. Naked people are generally associated with bath time. Some of the aforementioned stuff is actually fairly light (nudity, but not explicitly showing naughty bits or in lewd poses - it was a TV anime after all) and the "orgasm" is actually a cathartic experience of rejuvenation/restoration of life than anything sexual. Out of all the Macross series, M7 may actually be one of the better ones to show - as it is all about patience, nonviolent responses, sticking to your bigger plan, and trying to communicate with people/nature/things that one is unable to communicate with via normal language.

Complete: Mechanic: 7 UN 13B: Macross 5 Fleet: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - no major changes between the two editions (the minor ones include some minor fixes to make the Japanese a bit easier for native speakers to read).

Complete: Technology 08A: Over-Technology - Space Folds: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - Aside from bumping the Otech B sheet into an A sheet (why couldn't they rename the sheet, too?), there aren't many major changed. The translation has been cleaned up to be consistent with the conventions I'm currently using.

RM++ Project: Mechanic: Other 01A: VF-9 Cutlass: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#Other - aside from the honking huge Tenjin Hidetaka painting change, the sheet is largely unchanged.

RM++ Project: Mechanic: II Marduk 03A: Armaments Of The Marduk Forces: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MII - unsurprisingly, light on details. Character: Ai UN 08A: Bruno J. Global: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#DYRL - a bit more info, but still quite light.

Dark Hole.* Not a black hole. The implications are that it was a portal to another reality/universe/existence/place that no one can follow them to. In short, their "sunset" that they ride off into. * http://nomansland.site.nfoservers.com/MRG-Active-Archive//forums/index.php?topic=2872.0

RM++ Project: Episode: 7 41A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 41 "I Like Mylene Very Much!": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - a bit light, but the episode was light-hearted anyways. The bit on the Sunny Flower is good, but I have the feeling of already having reading it somewhere else... Episode: F23A & B: Macross F Eps. 23 "True Beginning": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - quite a few highlights on this one - the commentary being one of the better ones, for starters. The one about Sheryl's paper airplane is also surprising - how many of us noticed the paper that she used, let alone contemplated the significance of it?

RM++ Project: Timeline 51A: Ranka Attack (F): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCtimeline.php - both RM's are quite juicy: further defining the MDE/Fold Bomb "explosion" process, and one of Birla's motivations behind forming S.M.S..

The concept of nations ended at the end of the Unification War. That's why it's called Unified Forces, Unified Government, etc.. As CORRECT translations of the original material have been around for the last few years, I don't know why people still insist on using the incorrect term UN (= United Nations). 統合政府 = Unified Government (became New Unified Government at the end of SWI - effectively acts as a coalition of worlds) 統合軍 = Unified Forces (became New Unified Forces between M7 and MF) Edit: take note that in Japanese, United Nations is 国連. It is only ever seen at the very beginning of the timeline, and once the Unified Government forms, the U.N. ceases to exist.

Why is it suspicious? That design has been used in every appearance of a Macross space ship since then (MII, M+, MF, the logo for the Macross 30th Anniversary, etc.). IMHO, it'd be more suspicious if it was the SDFM design.

RM++ Project: Worldguide 23A: The Galactic Parallel-Thinking Network Plan: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - the RM wasn't quite as revealing about the topic of the sheet as I'd have liked. Nevertheless, the headlines are intriguing.

A lot of official publications indicate that the GERWALK form is basically a Heavy Attack Helicopter. It's a shame that there aren't more opportunities for the GERWALK mode to shine in the anime...

RM++ Project: History M 13A: Culture's Spread Within Buritai's Ship: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - those Zentraadi ranks are a handful, aren't they? As great an asset as those books are, its best to not reference them in discussions about the official setting (especially, but not limited to, some of the munchkin wonkiness that they come up with). Now, if you're running an RPG or writing a fanfic, they're great sources, as long as one is mindful about using only the stuff that doesn't contradict the official setting. The VF-19E is one of the odd ones, as the VFMF:VF-19 was the first time that I remember seeing the designation (and description) for it, but the official settings for later released movies and games later mention it, thereby eclipsing the VFMF version and shoving it out into the cold.

RM++ Project: Timeline 50A: The Birth Of The Super Dimensional Cinderella (F): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - excellent RM's on Jessica Blanc's history and the 33rd Marine Force. Character 7 Citizen 07A: City 7 Civilians: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#M7 - expanded my original translation with headlines and the interrelation diagram. Mechanic: 7 UN 08C: VF-17 Nightmare: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - updated We already hit that wall with #64 - no foldout Tenjin painting! RM++ Project: Episode: M30A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 30 "Viva Maria": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - some excellent RMs and commentary in this one. Episode: F22A & B: Macross F Eps. 22 "Northern Cross": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - how can you go wrong with a topic on "Bobby's Manly Spirit"?

Pretty sure I've translated that page... yup, right here: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/OTnewtype/FalseDivaFactFile.php#29 Note: the Newtype magazine insert was published either before the Hound name was decided, or officially revealed (if memory serves, it wasn't until the 2nd movie that a name for it was revealed). Poke around my translations site. You might find other pages that you were curious about, already translated. http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/

Wouldn't copying and pasting from a site that has it work? Ie: copying lowercase gamma from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_alphabet I guess I should be thankful that I'm using a Japanese IME*, and all I have to do is type in がんま and cycle through the possible renditions. * technically it's a J-Win PC, but the standard IME functions are pretty much the same across all variants of the OS.

Complete! Mechanic: D7 Citizen 01A: VT-1C: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MD7 - sharp-eyed observes will have noted that the sheet name has been shortened. That's just the beginning of the changes. In short, were the original was unsatisfyingly brief and limited in scope, this one is satisfying, provides the appropriate scope, and gives a proper explanation of the identity of the VT-1C in the warehouse in episode 1.

Don't forget that it comes in 2 variants! The air version: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceAir.php and the space version: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceSpace.php AND there's a heavy armoured transforming ground police vehicle: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceGround.php Not quite a Destroid, not quite as cool as the Cheyenne 2 in MF. Nonetheless, M7 did it.
