  1. Complete: Timeline 47A: The Arrival of the Vajra (F): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - a few changes between the two editions, and the translation has been cleaned up.
  2. It might make more sense if you keep in mind that the design itself was never fully rendered in all the different modes from all the different angles. And the scene in question uses an angle that the designer didn't produce. Kazutaka Miyatake only did one illustration of the front 3/4 in fighter, and one front and rear 3/4 in battroid - and all 3 images are looking down on the vehicle. As the angle the VE-1 is portrayed at in the movie was not among those, it's very likely that the animators either made some mistakes when drawn it, or they didn't know about some of the details when they drew it in fighter from the rear.
  3. Complete: Gallery II: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II ~Lovers Again~ #60: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRgallery/MCRgallery.php#MII Mechanic: F NUNS 07A: Macross Frontier Vehicles: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF - no changes between the two editions (some font size changes). Though, the translation has been massively cleaned up.
  4. RM++ Project: Episode: M27A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 27 "Love Flows": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - the description of the production side of things is quite interesting. Especially Kawamori killing a VCR in the process! Episode: F19A & B: Macross F Eps. 19 "Triangular": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - the highlights are, again, the notes on the production side.
  5. If memory serves, all of those pictures with that thin white cloud over black space (sometimes with wreckage, sometimes without) take place in the orbit of Pluto after the space fold. Nevertheless, it is a cool effect with a lot of silhouetted debris and hints at what the series might look like if it were made now.
  6. RM++ Project: Timeline 46A: The Unexpected Meeting With the Galactic Whales (D7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - wish I had more time to give the ancient Zolan inscription translation a bit more of an Olde English feel to them. Nevertheless, both RM's add to the series. On the flip side, there is nary a mention of Gamlin and the other members of Fire Bomber in the headlines and timeline highlights...
  7. Didn't answer this earlier: there are a couple of spots that are very interesting, but I'm totally swamped with Macross Chronicle. There are a couple of sections from the VFMF VF-25 book that I've completed that are waiting in the wings until I'm done with MC... and that's about when I can think about this book. Oh, the pictures of the book with the Spider Bug moving the VF-1 (or the VF-1 floating in space off the bow of the SDF-1) are "historical" photographs taken just after the space fold to the orbit of Pluto, during the operation to salvage the Prometheus, Daedalus, and everything else they can from South Ataria Island. Hopefully that bit of context will help readers make more sense of those pictures.
  8. Complete! Worldguide 24A: Vajra: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - no major changes between the two versions. Some minor ones but, surprisingly, they don't effect the translation! (the editors are making it more understandable for Japanese readers or something along those lines).
  9. Complete: Mechanic: Ai UN 08A: ARMD: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#DYRL - translation has been cleaned up in spots (and with the notes on what may be a typo on the publisher's side *may* have made at least one section more understandable). Image-wise, the revised edition has coloured the illo of the two ARMD attached to the Storm Attacker form SDF-1.
  10. Complete: Mechanic: D7 ETC 02A: VA-3C Kai Invader Kai: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MD7 Mechanic: 7 UN 13A: Macross 5 Fleet: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - the translations in both have been cleaned up. Only a few minor changes in the source text between the two editions.
  11. Rigaado is the romanization of the Japanese name of this: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/Regult/Regult.php
  12. Quite a few (though by photo, I hope you mean CG, and not a picture of a model/toy). Surprisingly, all of them are of the TV series version (including the one in the 2 picts of Macross City), and a good chunk of them are the SDF-1 without the Daedalus or Prometheus attached as arms (obviously the pictures of it on South Ataria Island, but a surprising number of those in space). Should I mention that there are also a decent collection of picts on the Zentraadi Rigaado and the F-15J++?
  13. Just went and picked up a copy. Here's a brief rundown of the content: SDF-1 VF-1 squadrons (surprise, surprise, it only occupies about a 1/4 of the book) SDF-1 Macross, its history, and the Zentraadi (the later one most surprised me. I don't think the Zentraadi pickles have ever looked this good) Carrier Air Wing of VF-1 (including pilot suits and diagrams of tactical deployments) Spider Bug in CG, and a 'super' Spider Bug A few new VF-1 variations (VF-1L) and FAST Pack variants A few pages dedicated to Fokker, Hikaru, Max, and their rides ... and Destroids! In summary: a good buy.
  14. Complete! Heroine Gallery: Ranka Lee x MBR-07-MkII / Kuran Kuran x MBR-04-MkVI: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRheroine/MCRheroine.php - a new artist participates. RM++ Project: History: TF 04A: The Goal Of The Galaxy Fleet: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#TMF - a nice summary of Fold Quartz's effects in the Macross Universe, and a delicious RM that highlights a few more differences between the TV series and the movie version of MF.
  15. RM++ Project: TF01C & D: Macross F Theatrical Edition ~The Wings Of Goodbye~: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#TMF - I'm not sure if the nuances in the "Training As An Oyama" are conveyed adequately. In short: Aruto has the habit of being more womanly than Sheryl is at times. Episode: 7 38A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 38 "Sybil Of The Forbidden Planet": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - quite interesting. On top of the symbolism and a meditation on the implications of the episode, we also get a definitive statement on what went wrong with the SDF-1's Space Fold at the start of SDFM (hopefully it'll put to rest the argument in some circles that that botched Space Fold was part of the Supervision Forces' booby trap...).
  16. RM++ Project: Glossary 18A: Hassan - Vampire: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - although it rounds out or adds much needed detail in some sections, it also comes up lacking in others (ie: what is Barunasium used for? Aside from being rare, why is it so valuable? After all, Fold Quartz is rare, but it doesn't appear to be any where near as valuable...
  17. RM++ Project: Timeline 45A: The Conclusion Of The Varohta Campaign (7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - although the first RM is a fascinating bit of pseudo-science, the second one is gold, as far as providing a bit more detail to "what happened to the M7 fleet after the series" goes.
  18. RM++ Project: History M 11A: Release Of "Little White Dragon": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - highlights in the RM are some of the names of the other propaganda films, and how this movie was one of the contributing factors in the destruction of the Earth. O.O;;; Worldguide 22A: Super Dimensional Restaurant "Nyan-Nyan": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - a bit more on Yocchan and his rise to galactic domination (in a way), and the uniforms (look closely at the picture connected to the "irregardless of the age or body shape" caption.
  19. RM++ Project: Character: Ai Meltran 01A: Miria 639: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#DYRL - What is the Matrix Moruku Rapuramizu? This sheet gives a quite definitive explanation - and it surprised me.
  20. Complete: Glossary 21A: VF-1 Valkyrie - Buritai 7018: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - only a few minor changes between the two editions. The translation has also been polished in a few spots.
  21. RM++ Project: Episode: M26A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 26 "Messenger": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - Who is the newcomer Matsuki? Despite highlighting how many times he appears, the RM doesn't really answer that. On another note: when I was looking up the VA for Exsedor, I came across "Exidor", one of the reoccurring characters in "Mork & Mindy". Did Macross borrow the name? (As M&M predates SDFM). Does anyone know the story on that? Episode: F18A & B: Macross F Eps. 18 "Fold Fame": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - most interesting is the production side influencing the writing side of the series. And then there is that whole Nishimura Tomomichi and the originator/modern Minmei thang.
  22. Technically they can carry wing ordinance (can, not need to). The VF-9 is the only VF that there is some doubt whether it can or cannot carry wing ordinance (I have lingering doubt, because despite what the materials I've read claim, how can it be a 'light' fighter jet without some kind of missile armament? And it doesn't have any internal space, either). EDIT: and the VB-6. Always forgetting that white elephant...
  23. Beat me to it. If memory serves, Gundam was the middle of the Golden triangle of anime that shifted things toward reality: Yamato: realistically drawn ships (in short, perspective drawings) Gundam: 3D space combat Macross: mass production (the 'real robot' concept). Not only the hero, but all of the war machines used by both sides are mass produced).
  24. RM++ Project: Timeline 44A: Operation Stargazer (7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - it feels like the density of the text in the timeline summary has increased. Were the initial writers feeling the page count crunch? The RM's are quite interesting - nostalgic, but also give a faint hint of lost opportunities (for dramatic pathos in the series, mainly).
