Someone had the idea of a 1/60 Monster kit like the Hot Toys ED209. t would save on shipping, reduce possible damage, and make custom paint jobs easier.
-
King you hit the nail on the head. Hikaru should have known it was a training aircraft. The orange has only recently disappeared from the flight line and our older airframes still have it. Plus what about preflight? Yes he stole the aircraft but I would still preflight it or at least check the logbook to see it was refueled and had two good engines???? His behavior and the entire situation is odd but then the story needed a reason for Roy to come along and save everyone.

Yes, it is excessively expensive to build something after the fact when dealing with the military and government contracting. The Luftwaffe in WWII did not have a two seat version of the 262. It was only after they started killing pilots by putting them directly in the airframe that a trainer was built. My airfield was filled with non-standard, modified, FAA certified training aircraft for military use. They are not combat aircraft. I have ground and airborne training aids that are manufactured 100% identical to the real equipment but the stuff is non or partially functional. One reason is accountability and security, neither is as high for training equipment as it is for real ordinance, weapon systems, or avionics. Training pilots in airframes is being replaced with simulation. The total time in the airframe is being reduced due to cost. So you have a pilot with less “air sense†and less time in the aircraft and more time in the box. Training practices are not fixed. They are always changing thanks to feed back from the War on Terror. Before the war, running and strafing fire were not trained only hovering fire. Talk to any Vietnam Era pilot and they will tell you that hovering fire is the quickest way to get shot down. That is a lesson that was forgot but is being taught again. Just like after Korea, the decision makers thought that dog fighting was finished and the gun would be replaced by the missile so the F-4 was fielded without one. Before WWII, there were theories about airpower that had people believing that fast unescorted bombers would be the future. The thought of making a unarmed two seater does not make sense and would be a waste of money…Hence attack of the good idea fairy. It would be a lot smarter to put the two seat cockpit on a VF-1A but that does not help to explain the VT-1.

Didn't Yamato have people return the YF-21's because they could not transform them and then Yamato returned the valk in a different mode just to prove it could be transformed? Yet, if you have to eat your boots will it be on video?
-
Know how you feel! In the middle of a PCS move. Have to use the wife's computer in the hotel room. The SV-51 would make a nice house warming gift.

The Yamato looks like a great first cut. Is the Hasegawa model more popular since that is the first one we got our hands on in the real world? If Yamato could get production toys out before the models would we be saying I like the Yamato better why did Hasegawa change this? So how many people are going to dig out the legos again and bring back the lego threads of past.

Some of the greatest customs are non-canon, like the Minmay Guards, so enjoy what you build. Please post pictures when complete. The only reason I could think of for developing a trainer after the production fighter was fielded is that putting pilots in a single seat aircraft without a two seat transition trainer was too dangerous and resulted in too many losses. The cost of pilots lost became more expensive than the cost to develop a modified airframe. Why no head laser or built in armaments????? Same reason the F-4 was produced without a gun. Attack of the good idea fairy, I could just hear a senior leader say “why arm a trainer… it would be safer without any ordinance.â€

Sounds like and excellent idea. Do you have a web link? Thanks.

You are only paranoid and delusional until proven correct. Your theory is why I am scared of VF-0S on ebay. "Keep the best sell the rest"

Kelly Hu is an excellent choice. How about dusting off Governer Arnold for Batou?- 751 replies

I like the yamato 1/60's better than the Toynami MPC VF-1 series. I only own one the "Robotech Fake" YF-1R with fast packs but the 1/60 series is built better and looks nicer. I have the blue and shadow Alpha and they just suck. Wish they did not... but wishful thinking would get me a Beta. Also do not let your wife see that one of your toys sucks or she will ask why you keep them. I do like the super poseables and the 1/100s from Toynami when they can be found cheep on ebay.

Please NO! not as a repaint but recast in the blue color.

How many people dumped the 1/72 YF-19 for the tab b problems, chipped paint, or the super gap shield? Thankfully I did not break the tap on my YF-19 but was put off by the paint chipping on the VF-19A. Still own two (A's) just one is really loose. The new YF-19 is an improvement but I have to agree with those that feel short changed by the high price and the resulting material failures.

It would work that is how the wings locked on the old 1/72 YF-19 and VF-19A. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/v...nal_proto09.jpg The link shows the open slot.

I am just scared. I looked at my 19 at christmas, briefly out of the box and then packed it up to move. Listening to all the problems I am scared to transform it and wish I had it in hand. Looks like will need three. One for each mode and they are only transformed after disassembly. Like the mods from the other 19 tread: Stealth Hands, Spray Can Cover/Filler, and the glue knife warning about the screw covers. Thanks to all that are leading the way.

Not bad,??? You are too modest. I know that you need keep product secrets but doubt the aircraft has inherent control coupling or a stabilization augmentation system. So that is an excellent design with superb flying skills since you do not have the luxury of being in the cockpit. I hope that your current production ideas work. Best of luck.

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
Fly4victory replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Thanks, Have only seen the pictures from the design works book. The SV-51 looks great too bad had to make custom wings and fins. -
Brings back memories of flight school and every check ride since…. “Use common terms and phraseology.†You should be Macross World’s first standardization pilot. Rather like, it was not a crash but an “un-commanded departure from flightâ€. Back on track, if the gun problem is due to the shield can the arms be positioned correctly in fighter mode and then the shield placed back on the fighter? Edit: deleted the strange boxes and symbols that resulted from copy/paste.

From HLJ: Yen 2,850, Euros €18.27, USD $23.63. The have a save 5% preorder special but no pictures yet. http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Scale=0&M...p;GenreCode=All Edit: at 10 cm or 4 inches what scale is that? Did the math: 1/35 scale

Those flight videos on Google are great. During the "Sorta Cobra"... looks like you had zero forward airspeed and still maintained altitude. That is a great looking aircraft both in the air and on the ground. Is it possible to make a vacuum form mold from your hand carved master? It may allow partial mass production since you have already validated the design.

Haven't found any figures but the SH-60 would look nice after some light gull gray touch-up to cover the US Navy markings then add UN Spacy and the Red Macross Kite on the tail. Plan to do the custom after I move but happy to share the idea. http://www.flyingmule.com/products/NR-25587

The 1/60's are the only two seaters other than the custom kits. More importantly if scale is important all the new M+ and zero valks are 1/60. You can even find a 1/60 Sea Hawk. Now all we need is a 1/60 scale F-14 and Mig-29. The head is ugly but I now wish I had bought a 1/60 VF-1S strike. Yamato can get more of my money with an improved re-issue.
-
I would buy a VF-2SS. Prefer 1/60 to go with the new M+ and zero valks.
