The inevitable heat death of the DC cinematic universe.

Just an FYI. HMR VT-1 on sale at HLJ during their summer sale. There are some other Macross stuff on sale, too. https://hlj.com/hi-metal-r-vt-1-super-ostrich-bann25875

Anyone know the context of this? All of a sudden it showed up in my feed and I had absolutely zero reaction to it besides "...huh...". All I know is that it has something to do with Galaxy's Edge.

^ I much prefer this explanation. Alternatively: Buxom Zentraedi women corral wild VFs and wrestle them into submission in order to tame them.

Not really. I KNEW this would be a stinker, and Godzilla ended up being just as good as I expected and wanted. So for this sci-fi fan, at least, God's in His Heaven and all's right with the world.

This was more the reaction I was anticipating. Y'all remember when the big bad was giving their big bad screed via a Skype chat and had stock footage queued up for B-roll? That bit in particular but that entire scene in general had me squirming in my seat wanting to get away from the cringe. I'm sure everyone on the deck of the ship were also thinking the same thing when it started turning into a family court proceeding.

Board's not letting me add to the post, so I'll just say that both screenings I went to got rounds of enthusiastic applause. Despite all the dumb stuff, despite all the dumb human characters, despite tons of dumb issues that I thought for sure would turn off general audiences, it seems like people were really behind the movie, which made me feel the warms and fuzzies.

Can I just say that, along with everything else everyone has said, the soundtrack is frakkING PHENOMENAL. God(zilla), the music alone made shivers run down my spine. This movie LOVES its source material in every single frame. Mothra was especially wonderful, in just every way possible. In less... caring hands, I could easily see her being completely dumbed down, or altered so drastically as to be unrecognizable. But just the slight tweaks they made to her design and character (so she's not necessarily as passive a character as she was in the Toho films while still being unequivocally a force for good), and the reverence with which all the human characters treat her, and the full-blown orchestra arrangement of her classic theme song playing with a complete lack of irony whatsoever... God I love this movie.

I know the F-35 gets a bad rap, but damn if it isn't a beautiful thing to behold.
-
Hm... I wonder if they'll at least include stowed-mode parts...

For real. If I ever see this on Ebay, I'm grabbing it for sure, quality of the movie be damned.

Eventually, IIRC. Apparently you can easily tell the A-to-D conversions by the fact that the opening for the glove vanes (thanks for giving me the correct terminology) were simply welded shut. At least that's what I remember from hearsay. Could very well be wrong.

Doesn't AC7 feature them? Could've sworn... Edit: Speaking of the F-14, it did my heart good to see the little "winglets" that slide out after the plane enters its high speed config. I forget if they reused the model for the D variant and thus mistakenly recreated it for that, but seeing it at all was lots of fun. That said, the PS2 games had their share of mistakes, too, such as the placement of the F-35C's machine gun.

True, but for $60-80 I'd have expected the Spirits Kuji figures to be slightly higher quality... though I suppose they are, just not in that particular department. And it's not as if the arguably ugly face isn't actually accurate to some of the artwork. I seem to recall a close-up of her head for an in-universe promotional image looked a lot like those "ugly" sculpts. It doesn't actually look bad, just very different from how she usually looks.

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." (This is another reason why I don't particularly like Ragnarok compared to the first two Thor movies...) More importantly, Thor or Captain America could have completely nullified Thanos simply by laying Mjolnir on top of him. But meh, they couldn't for the sake of cool choreography and fighting, etc., yes yes yes... but still.

I wonder if those will be actual photo-etched metal detail pieces. Either way, that's an insta-buy for sure. I'm glad Alpha x Omega aren't using the same sculptor as Banpresto/Bandai for their recent releases. That face sculpt is looking much better.

Head's up, I just got a Youtube "recommendation" from the channel FuriousTrailer that is a big ol' spoiler for this movie. I'm guessing there'll be plenty more in the upcoming week.

Maybe so, but I agree I'd have liked a different look for her. Either lean fully into her Alpha/Zero aesthetic - the kind of stereotypically cute, slim and smooth anime schoolgirl look - or lean more into her maturing look from V - more muscle definition, less cute. I think the pose could be better, too. Doesn't scream "Sakura Kasugano" quite so much as if they had her, say, doing her victory dance or something. Of all the SF Bishoujo figures, I think I'd like to get my hands on Juri the most. Everything about it looks spot on to the character while still being aesthetically "bishoujo." That or Ibuki. Or Makoto, if they ever get to her. Or Elena. God, my kingdom for a Makoto or Elena.
