  1. Joker's never been a character that needed a backstory, but setting aside all things Joker, this looks to be a good movie nonetheless. Like azrael said, he doesn't look like The Joker, just A Joker, but that's totally fine. (Thank god WB are finally figuring their crap out.) I imagine it'll be its own thing like the Batman movies have been up 'til Justice League, which can only be a good thing. It would be interesting if they took this in the direction that Telltale did with their Batman game. Really, everyone in that game got an interesting twist to their character that really livened up the story.
  2. MG S Gundam/Ex-S Gundam 1.5 sample pics from Dengeki Hobby: https://www.gundamkitscollection.com/2019/03/mg-1100-s-ex-s-gundam-ver-15-sample.html
  3. First episode of the new Twilight Zone is up on Youtube, the rest on CBS's All Access subscription service. (You'll have to click the link; it can't be embedded because they must have checked a "no embedding" box or something.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19GO8-Rrn0g
  4. Hey, so I recently won a bundle listing off YJA that included a model kit I wanted but also some figures. (A real steal, too; everything plus shipping/fees still cost less than if I bought just the kit + shipping/fees.) I'm working to identify them and find out info about them. (Character name, scale, manufacturer, etc.) I'm hoping one of you might be able to help answer some lingering questions I have. So the figures are... - 1/7 Wave "Dream Tech" Tomoyo Sakagami (from Clannad: ~After Story~) https://myfigurecollection.net/item/25760 - 1/7 Max Factory Fujisawa Yayoi (from Stellvia) https://myfigurecollection.net/item/973 - "Keitai Musume"/Cell Phone Girl, combination 1/6 figure and acrylic phone stand ...and my questions are: 1) What does "Dream Tech" refer to? Is it another company, perhaps the production company of the figure (ie Dream Tech makes the figure, Wave distributes it)? Is it a certain line of Wave figures? If so, what differentiates it from other Wave figures? etc. 2) Who are the manufacturers of the Keitai Musume figure? I see "Bell Fine" everywhere including on the box, but I also sometimes see a "Liao-something something" on the web, and need a confirmation. 3) Any information in general about the Keitai Musume figure? There appears to be several of these having started releasing over the past year or so, but I can't find these figures on MFC. Is this from an anime series? A video game? Maybe it's a mascot? etc. Thanks in advance.
  5. GM Sniper has a bona fide decal sheet, but otherwise it's a straight color swap.
  6. While we're on the subject of the Genesis/Megadrive:
  7. Does the omission of 3 buttons affect any games? And why was the button setup changed from Japan to the US in the first place?
  8. Paraphrasing: 1) "Why would a fly land on something like that?" 2) "Rats should be ashamed [of themselves] for falling for something like that." 3) "...Bears, this is ridiculous." 4) [Robotech movie trap]
  9. The original Idolmaster! I watched eagerly waiting for that iconic theme to show up, and it didn't disappoint!
  10. Speaking of the origins of Captain Marvel (Thanks to this forum, I just keep getting recc'ed these videos now, and this one's actually not bad scratch that, the second half gets kind of strawman-y or at least is referencing something I'm completely out of the loop on, but the actual character history in the first half seems to check out): Thinking on it more, I think I'm gonna go with the same opinion that a podcast I listen to made, which is basically "There were two Marvels they could have made a movie about, and they chose the wrong one. Brie Larson doesn't bring a lot of charisma to the role, and Kamala Khan is way more interesting as a character in every way." That said, I've never read any works about either character, so what do I know. The extent of my knowledge of either of them is that Danvers once had a crush on Peter Parker, and Kamala writes Wolverine fanfiction.
  11. I don't think so. We were simply discussing the fact that there is a new English dub; Netflix aren't going with the old ADV dub.
  12. Confession: I like the Strike perfectly fine all on its own. Give it that big ol' sword the PG comes with and that's all the extra equipment it needs.
  13. I dunno about that. Cowboy Bebop's American dub famously set such a high bar for English dub work that even director Shinichiro Watanabe prefers it to the original Japanese dub, and there have been more good to great dubs since then. That said, I think the only reason NGE's dub is remembered as a good one is because that's what people heard on Cartoon Network as kids. I think I bought the original DVDs/VHSes before they ever got the show on CN, so I had the choice of not listening to it. I'm sure there must be some Spanish dubs (either done in Chile or elsewhere) that have outdone their original Japanese counterparts.
  14. Same and same. Tiffany Grant (Asuka) conveniently actually knew German, so her lines were actually intelligible as opposed to the original VA's Nihongerman. But besides that, I didn't find any bit of the English dub that interesting. I think Grant even ad-libbed some of her German (because of the aforementioned unintelligible Nihongerman), which potentially fundamentally messed with the associated scenes. The English dub of EoE similarly took some creative liberties, including to the audio mixing, that missed their marks.
  15. What the fudge kind of trailer was that. That's Fox Kids level of cringe.
  16. Bumping some threads to let as many interested parties know. HLJ Spring sale. Arcadia Super VF-1J Milia was up there, probably others as well.

In case anyone's interested, HLJ's spring sale is going on. I think I saw a HMR VT-1 when I did a quick glance.
  18. Specifically, they added DXR support to their non-RTX cards (from the original 1060 6GB card and up). DXR being a non-proprietary implementation of real-time ray-tracing through I think DX12. Their RTX cards (ie those with tensor cores) will still be able to use their proprietary RT... tech? hardware? whatever... to do ray-tracing, maybe in conjunction with or instead of through DXR. Here's an example of DXR (IIRC) being integrated into CryEngine. They render this video using a Vega 56.
  19. This isn't strictly manga, but I thought I'd share anyway for anyone interested. In case you wanted to read the light novels these designs come from, a company called "J-Novel Club" are re-releasing the FMP! novels with a brand new translation. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/03/18/j-novel-club-announces-full-metal-panic-novels-and-more You can read a preview on the product page: https://j-novel.club/s/full-metal-panic I had thought that only the manga had been localized, but I guess some of those volumes I passed by in the Borderses and BnNs were actually the novels.
