  1. Bit the bullet and just preordered the digital version off PSN. Really wanted to get the Aces at War bundle, but oh well. If the collectors editions are selling for a decent price post-launch, I'll grab one then, but I want me that AC5.
  2. This the one? Just saw it on Youtube.
  3. (EDIT: Sorry if my thoughts seem scattered. It's late and my mind is everywhere.) Just watched Godzilla: The Planet Eater with the big brother. He's not as big a fan of the more out-there sci-fi ideas, so he hasn't been able to finish any of the movies. Unsurprisingly, he didn't enjoy this finale. Me, I found it all as thought-provoking as the previous two films. This trilogy deals in some mind-bending themes, and I'm not quite sure I totally wrapped my mind around them the first go-around, but it was certainly stimulating from start to finish. The movie simplifying civilization down to its technology, and then claiming the resultant destruction from it as inevitable, does also gnaw at my nerves a bit, but not too much.
  4. Ah, I see. I had assumed some such thing MUST have been at least conceptualized for the Raptor by now, if not downright made. I'm gonna have to go back through the other trailers and see if they just reuse it for the other pod designs, too, or if those are unique. I'd imagine if it just clamps onto a hardpoint, it'd be pretty interchangeable. ...or actually, those of you with the know-how, are mounting points the same across the different fighters? Or are there different brackets for putting, say, an AMRAAM on an F-22 versus an F-16?
  5. "Bumblebee is leggiest Transformers ever" Sounds dirty. https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2019/01/09/box-office-bumblebee-tops-100m-and-its-the-leggiest-transformers-ever/amp/
  6. Are those underwing pods based on IRL designs? Or were they invented for the game?
  7. Well, the performance numbers seem to bear it out, too. Now obviously it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but the fact that their 14nm(++) chips outperform AMD/TSMC's 12nm chips speaks to the refinement of their manufacturing process. Their chips can still clock higher, still have better IPC, etc. Not by a huge margin, mind, but still it's measurable. If AMD can shrink that margin even more with Zen 2, and all indications point to that being the case, that would REALLY put the screws to Intel.
  8. It's odd wording for sure. Mostly I think it's meant to imply how sharply they're maneuvering. As long as the 30 g's aren't sustained forces, I'd think they're survivable. John Stapp, renowned historical crash test dummy, survived a maximum 46-g test, and estimated the human body can survive even greater numbers. The dialogue before and after, as well as the visuals, don't help it much, though.
  9. Whaaaaat no way stop talking crazy
  10. Someone's really got it out for you, noel. I've seen that little red tick bite on dozens of your posts today. EDIT: But ditto on the excitement to see the cockpit and interior. I really wish I could afford this kit. Whatever faults it might have, it's still just so. frakking. cool.
  11. In English: EDIT: Yep, that's the Ace Combat melodrama I know and love.
  12. Would I be right to say that the first pic is the Yamato 1/60 V1, and the second pic is the Yamato 1/60 V2?
  13. Gamers Nexus did an interview with... either an industry analyst or an Intel engineer, I forget... where the point was made that Intel's manufacturing process refinements are such that others' 7nm is roughly equivalent in efficiency/density/etc. to their 10nm. That said, IIRC it appears they're limiting their 10nm chips to very select-use cases and are already well on their way to developing 7nm chips themselves, either by way of partnering with Global Foundries/TSMC or by creating all-new facilities of their own. Anyone care to explain what that "3D layering" thing is they were crowing about? Something about mixing up different processing nodes? Seems to be the same as AMD's approach and/or an expansion on it. Anyway, with their newfound interest in GPU tech, along with AMD's upcoming Zen 2/Vega 7nm/Picasso releases, I have to imagine that the APU, NUC, SoC, etc. markets will be seeing some major improvements in the next year or so. I'm cautiously excited.

  15. People are freaking out:
  16. If it's another Yoko Kanno team-up, I'd be totally down for the unexpected but totally expected swerve into smooth jazz again. Fuuuuuuck, Macross by way of Cowboy Bebop? Yessssss.....
  17. Eh, it's not inherently dumb. I can see it saving the customer time spent wandering through the store, getting lost. That said, if I'm ordering groceries, I sure as heck don't want someone else picking out my veggies and meats for me.
  18. Seems everybody are getting in on the Spider-verse hype. I for one am all for it: "'Legend of Korra' Fan Art Gives Korra and Asami #Spidersonas" https://comicbook.com/marvel/amp/2019/01/06/spider-man-into-the-spider-verse-legend-of-korra-spidersonas/ EDIT: Cowboy Bebop fan animation inspired by Spider-verse style:
  19. I dunno if that's a problem as far as following the film goes. The various Transformers are already super distinct from each other such that names aren't, strictly speaking, necessary. IIRC, the film wasn't always going to be a prologue and/or wasn't always going to be a reboot and/or whatever it has ended up being in regards to the Bayverse. For my part, I find it easiest to think of this movie as a reboot and just handwave away any and all discrepancies that stem from its troubled chronology.
  20. There are certainly worse ways to go than Kim Possible International. Still, though...
  21. Yeah, I just figured it must've been something a bit more... topical. There was that one arc in the comics a while back with Donnie dying by way of splitting his shell open. I thought maybe there was a reboot or so and something similar happened, only to the other three + Splinter this time around.
  22. Seems like a mashup of TV spots. I saw the November trailer in theaters in the run-up to Bumblebee, and it struck me just how differently each trailer has been trying to sell this. First trailer was a bit artsy, centering on the coming of age story. Second trailer tried to really "mainstream" it, make it seem like a more conventional action movie. This one plays up the romance angle, at least at first. And of the three, I think the first and the third trailers do the best job selling this to me. We all know James Cameron's movies like to only pretend to be mindless action adventures while really being romantic comedies at heart. The second trailer tries REALLY HARD to appeal to the dudebros with the rote dialogue and heavy emphasis on the CGI fight scenes, but the first and third seem to better capture the more... "female-friendly" aspects of the film. I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it. Either way, still cautiously optimistic.
  23. I can see where that conclusion comes from, but to me it always seemed more symbolic than anything. But that's neither here nor there. Moving on. Yeah, I don't mean to imply that this ever goes to the same explicit levels as Shape of Water, just that it can very easily be read as leaning in that direction. I can just as easily see it being purely platonic but no less affectionate. As you say, love transcends all barriers. Good point. Though Bee does "eat" Charlie's dad's car radio. Same? The crush felt very one-sided to me. It was obvious enough on his part. The reciprocation from Charlie, though... didn't seem to be there. She seemed to have eyes only for Bee, and vice versa. Memo makes an effort to comfort her, to find a seat in her inner circle of trust, but she consistently rebuffs those efforts in favor of opening up to Bee. See where the romance angle can be easily discerned? Bee is taking all the "romance movie tropes" that Memo should be taking. Bee is the one she shares heartfelt intimate... ahem... "touching sessions" with, he's the one who trusts her enough to be emotionally vulnerable in her presence and vice versa, he's the one who saves her and she saves him, so on and so forth... So when, at the end of the movie, she and Memo are presented as having a burgeoning romance, it doesn't feel particularly... "earned," so to speak. And... I mean, really. They had The Song From Ghost playing while a girl and her car bared their emotions to each other. That's not very subtle.
  24. Just saw it today by myself because literally no one I know wanted to see it. Did anyone else get unexpected The Shape of Water vibes from this? The inter-species romance angle is absurdly strong here, only stopping short of snogging (symbolic or otherwise) due to the need to maintain a PG-13 rating. The "nerdy love interest next door" subplot is so nothing, especially in comparison. Like every time the boy was on screen I just wanted to shoo him away. "Get out of here! You're ruining the moment!" while this girl and her car get reeeeaaaally intimate to the tunes of Unchained Melody. All they needed was a pottery wheel and some clay... The rest of the movie was fine, too. it was surprisingly decent if shallow. Not Transformers: Prime tier but decent, which is more than I can say for any of the other movies. But that one single aspect threw me for such a loop. I did not at all expect them to go in that direction and be that unapologetic about it. But then again, it's hardly the first time they've flirted with the idea. EDIT: Seems I'm not the only one. https://www.inverse.com/article/51929-bumblebee-is-2018-shape-of-water-romance-with-an-autobot
