I broke down and finally asked LP when mine will ever ship. For a minute there, I thought they were going to be my go-to store. All these years in the hobby and I've never found a store to be my absolute go-to.

jenius replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
Also, the first Macross Frontier movie is terrible. SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! The second one is *kinda* saved by mech porn.- 109 replies

Whoa, WWM with UN Spacy Kite huh? Cool.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good studio going in the house I'm working out of while I build my new one. Even the photo situation is pretty bad. Still a few months out from moving again.

Maybe in the movie he'll be like 150 but look 72 due to spice treatments.

I love Walken but I would have expected the emperor to be younger. He's got a 16ish year old daughter right?

You're buying into weak, easily abandoned canon in a genre known for abandoning canon way too much as a reason to dislike a drawing.

In Robotech, stealth could just mean it doesn't have a big 'protoculture signature' like the very stealthy shadow fighter.

I agree on the pricing. It's hard to argue it's a bargain but it certainly seems like a more complicated design than the DX VF-1 so the fact they're ballpark similar pricing while Sentinel is a much smaller company producing much fewer units, it seems like it's at least a 'fair' price. I guess the argument could be made that they should have made more parts out of metal and stepped up the price a little for a better experience but anyone involved in manufacture has to look at each part and figure out 'good enough' to make it do what its supposed to without being more expensive than it needs to be. In this case, there were a couple parts that may have been misjudged and/or a couple parts that are more prone to manufacturing issues. My Yellow broke similarly and just like this user... it never felt right so I think that part has QC issues on top of being subjected to a lot of force.

Ooh I like what they did with the thrusters in the wheel.

I remember drooling over 1/35 Gakken Robotech Alpha toys at Gemco... I think they were bought out and eventually became Targets.

I'd second that. Riding a Banshee or whatever they were called was my favorite part of Animal Kingdom by a long shot. I'd second that as well. I remember the protagonist brushing away bubbles and thinking how cool that looked. I watched some of it more recently while my son watched it for the first time on a traditional screen and it was definitely 'meh.'

Thank you! Lots of credit for that video and a ton of the content on the website goes right back to this community who were often the trailblazers and whose observations have really helped steer the reviews and guides.

The Legioss toys also have those 'for future use' type clips.

Huh, it looks like the Stick and Ray figures were transposed in the toy version. Still super fun way to display them!

Super Dimension Convention - 2022
jenius replied to ominous's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
This year, I'm almost certainly going. -
I believe a primary difference from Yamato to Arcadia was a shift from viewing themselves as toy company to more of a part-time model. I would guess Arcadia has very few full-time employees at this point and it's more a labor of love for most involved.
-
I very much doubt they're making this to gauge our interest on new destroids. The existing destroids sold terribly for Yamato; it's hard to imagine Arcadia would entertain an entirely new mold. Arcadia probably just saw the after market value on these things had climbed enough to warrant putting more supply out.

I just did WDW also. I hadn't done the previous system but I'm relieved I didn't need to book things 60 days in advance and was instead able to book it the morning of. That system seems a lot more fair for people who are going to Disney on more of a whim. I did pay extra for Rise of the Resistance lightning lane. I wish I hadn't ridden Mickey/Minnie's runaway train earlier that day since it's essentially the same ride with the Mickey's shorts theme instead of Star Wars... sort of sucked the novelty out of the experience. I had never ridden the Aerosmith coaster and it's awesome. I had always wondered what a more grown up version of Space Mountain would be like and that's exactly what the Aerosmith ride is. Slinky Dog line is soooooooooo much longer than it should be. We waited a bit less than an hour but people were waiting far longer later in the day... I agree with JVM that the ordering of food through the app is super clunky. You order your food before you want it. Then you click "I'm here" and wait for your food like you're in line even though you're not, then you get your food and it's like "Was this really any better?" For Magic Kingdom, taking advantage of the late hours is definitely the way to go. Leave the park from 1PM-4PM, enjoy a ciesta and/or swim, then head back and stay until 11PM. My kids are elementary school-aged and while the youngest was conking out on the bus ride home, it was still worth it. The Dwarf ride has some cool video stuff in the photo pass, but as a rollercoaster, I don't know that I would put it above Thunder Mountain. Is Thunder Mountain themed after anything in particular or is it a clue what the next big Disney franchise is going to be? When using genie +, remember that you get a new pick every 2 hours, not just when you use your last pick (though you might have to wait until 10AM so it's 2 hours after the park opens, I wasn't clear on that). If you book a noon ride at 8AM you can book again at 10AM and then again after you use your noon ride.... though by noon I found the only lighting lanes I could get were for rides that would have almost no standby line. The pool at Port Orleans French Quarter is legit for kids but they could use a better hot tub situation for parents.

Man, I ordered a refrigerator on Black Friday. They told me it would be available in March. I just called... now it's "possibly the end of September but that's still a preliminary number." There's a very good chance I will get my fridge more than a year after I bought it.
