Unix Square Robotech VF-1J
nightmareB4macross replied to GGemini's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is a truly a desired taste, and definitely not for me. No matter how bored or delayed in flight I get. It appears as if this is an over steroid Yamaguchi Revoltech VF. The proportions are just so over the top and are not appealing in any mode. But I guess since we’re out of paint schemes might as well change the mold. -

Here’s a fun find I had no idea existed. Shared horizon background setting used for both this Takatoku Toys non-scale kit and the 1984 release of Bandai’s VF-1A Hikaru from DYRL. Pretty cool.

Like many have recommended, it might be best to seek out a complete 1990 Banda 1/55 SuperValkyrie VF-1S. Finding the correct Super parts is a bit of a challenge as that particular blue armor is unique to that single release. All reissues have certain fits and colors that will not work with the 1990 mold. If you’re curious about the other varieties, you can peruse this thread. Grab a coffee or stiff drink, maybe even a sandwich cause it is going to be a long and entertaining read. Head on over the 1/55 Revisited page. Welcome to MacrossWorld.

Looks like someone picked up a nice custom with box. Not me, but someone else.
-
You are correct about the head being reworked, as you can also see the vents on the back of the head have prominent characteristic bubbles from resin casting.
-
Nice custom you found there. Where did you find this? The head appears to be that of a 1/100 kit.

ThreeZero ROBOTECH (Macross) Toys
nightmareB4macross replied to kyekye's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I recently purchased one out of sheer boredom since my flight was delayed home. I do have to agree with you on the thought of this as being somewhere in the middle. The fit and finish is actually satisfying. The design choices however have me a bit withdrawn. The weirdest designs are the front landing gear assist panel and those ugly ankle panels. All the paint on this is a nice touch, but those hideous painted panel lines, yuk. The heft gives it a nice feel as does the smooth articulation. But I will say the ankles seem as if they will give out quick after standing in Battroid (Robotech) mode for some time. Here if the VF-1J fighter with Optimus Prime standing in as the Macross.😅 -

Mods can we please close this out. I just started a new thread instead, sorry.

Cool. Thanks again.

They are out there, but the secondary market price is steep. Good luck.

I see where you’re going with and that is an interesting approach to a potential solution. But before Bandai goes and creates something like this I would rather they address the back slung backpack in GERWALK which is the same issue of the low slung backpack in BATTROID mode. If this issue was addressed first, new better proportioned vertical stabilizers can be materialized.
-
It does. 😛 Just doing a bit of upgrading to an old 1/55.
-
I don’t recall the Yamato 1/60 v2 VT-1 having a hook lock due to the tail panel folding over the dorsal part of the fighter. This having the clips for the vertical stabilizers Instead.
-
Are the joints on this like those on the Logan prototype left at Frank and Sons?
-
The cockpit, canopy, and fuselage are very different in dimensions between the 2-Seaters. VF-1D is sleek while the VT/VE-1 are more bulbous in shape. This is why the tail fins can lay flat on the 1D variants.

Yamato sure did everything right when they supported the Macross franchise. Thank you Yamato. Excellent trifecta!

11B v 11MaxL in meters B 12.92 v 11.24 F 11.2 v 11.2 G 11.2 v 11.2 Lots of expansion in MaxL from Battroid to Fighter/GERWALK. I honestly thought they were always the same size. But according to the specs they aren’t.
