Honestly, the only thing I can think of is production running out of whatever prominent color they were using at the time. Ran out and just filled in missing molds with other colors that were readily available. That or, they just used left over hands. I’m just not sure.

Yes sir, molded grey like the head lasers, feet, intakes, leg joints, and gun. The Joons Max, Milia, Green, and Ángelbirds all have painted dark green hands.

1/55 PCToys VF-1J - Grey hands version. Looks like a standard box, but it isn’t. The window is actually fused to the box from the outside. The more you look the more you find.

As a continuance to the history of the 1/55 and its 1/100 brethren. We have a very interesting release in 1/100. Made by Peifu from Taipei. From what I have seen there are three releases of this. The VF-1J in the box, a VF-1S in almost the same color scheme (rebuilt), and a white VF-1S Hikaru with proper colors. This is the hobby that keeps on giving.

A while back an eBay seller had this new box on auction with BIN. The listing stated OVERSIZED and I got a bit excited. So I reached out to the seller to confirm. Lo and behold it was just the regular 1/55 GS-11. Nothing special. Bummer. I was really hoping it was oversized.

For some reason this came back to me. But anyways…does anyone really know what the official names for this squadron is? The last I saw translated was persimmon squadron on various bootleg copies and what show up in YouTube.

If you bought it this way, why not send it back and purchase another?

I think that part is made from POM. It is intended to be strong and has a high tendency of not working well with surface bonding glues. If you are lucky enough to get the parts to stick cool. But they will never be strong as the original part once was and break apart easily. Hopefully you can find a solution by doing a little research on the plastic and finding the right bonding chemical.

I wonder if Arcadia is struggling. This is the 6th time the SDF-1 is being released since 2010 and the VF-1 since 2008. This almost feels like a Toynami move. Nothing new just more reissues. Would be nice if they added in scale figures that stood up. 😜 Seriuosly, we need something new.

It appears so. There so many slight changes from the TT to Bandai to Hasbro mold. For instance some TT backplates will not align correctly as a replacement for Bandai Jetfire. The dimensions are not exactly the same and refuse to nest properly. Same for many parts throughout.
