  1. Yeah I mean it's the free market economy. That's like saying having a rare Car from the 50's and selling it for a few hundred bucks when it's worth 10's of 1000's is "scalping". That's not how scalping works... hell that's not even what scalping means. Scalping is buying up a product (usually tickets) to create a false scarcity and increase the going market rate. So if you bought like 200 VT-1's when they first came out to try to make people pay more then, that would be scalping. For a simpler example, scalping is what we see with Anime Export when one person buys up a ton of Bandai Frontier valks, or what NY does when they buy more frontier valks and jack up the price. That is scalping, and just about everybody on this forum supports NY at one point or another - so it's a little hypocritical to get down on it. But some people don't grasp basic concepts, or get easily confused. Collectibles are luxury items. Nobody needs Yamato's VF-1's to survive. ( I don't think.) If you want to change your collection, or stop collecting, or collect something else, it's only natural to want to get your money back, or more, when you go to sell it to somebody else. It's the whole reason people care about condition and sealed toys, vs loose broken toys. You have to be able to gauge the worth over time just like when you go to sell a car. I love the idea of being able to make money on my hobby, it means I can collect more, or have my hobby pay for itself. You can't make money on on every item - but if the value on the market is there, why not profit? Natural scarcity is when an item has been sold out for a long time and people believe that it is WORTH paying more than the original price to own it because it is scarce. That's why VF-4's are worth so much money. There are not a lot of them. Personally, I don't feel a VF-4 is worth 500, or 900 dollars, so I never bought one. Just because you can't afford it, or don't want it doesn't mean you should hate on others who can and do want an item. Also, due to inflation and other factors the cost of MSRP has gone up and probably will continue to do so, that probably prices some people out of the hobby.
  2. Treatment thinks anything over 100 dollars is "scalper pricing". Don't think he gets market value haha. Anyway, that's a decent right on market going rate price. Just keep in mind shipping will be 30+ bucks for EMS (And jungle pads their shipping a bit) and you probably have to hunt down replacement shoulders unless you just want to display it in fighter mode. So just shy of $400 with all the costs thrown in. You might get lucky and if nobody touched it the shoulders might just have hairline cracks.
  3. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Toys are always around somewhere to buy later.
  4. VF-X is clear. 30th J is a tinted brown color, but not rainbow. Not sure about tv roy.
  5. Yeah the rainbow is underrated. Most I have seen are unpeeled. My Roy combo set has a rainbow and I like it a lot.
  6. Looks awesome man! Glad you're happy with it.
  7. It's pretty expensive. Whats the diecast content?
  8. Great thread though.
  9. If anybody is looking for a Rand Masterpiece ride armor I put mine up on the BST forum with pictures ect. Yeah, i'd have to see a review that these things have a decent build quality to even consider it.
  10. Hmm. My monitors are pretty big so I never notice haha. The board always resizes images for me. Maybe its your browser? You can also take apart the 30th head and swap visors. It has a grey visor. Idk if that is possible without breaking the head though.
  11. Lol macross first!
  12. Nice! How do you misplace max! Haha.
  13. Depends on the size of the con. I know on the east coast at Animazement, we had one of the creators of the Macross but not a single vendor selling any decent toys. I saw one over priced fire valk. The rest was just endless gundams and crappy action figures. The guy said everything went up north to a larger convention. I think in the South East it's hard to find for sure. I'm willing to bet I have one of the largest private collections of valks in the South east and I don't have an amazing amount. 24 yamatos? hah
  14. So probably get payment notices at the end of the week.
  15. I got a green defend on ebay for a good price. And my ostrich shoulders. But that's about it.
  16. 1. 1/60 V2 Elint Seeker. I just love the look of it, and the colors. 2. Non-Macross: SOC Big-O. I loved this show when it came out and it's one of the first toys I bought when I started collecting a few years back.
  17. That sucks. Hope I don't have to mail mine back haha
  18. Idk if it's panic... so much as people realized we won't get better versions from Arcadia, so it's drying up. People are holding on to their Yammies and/or selling them for more because of scarcity. Yahoo Japan used to be 4 pages of 1/60's, now it's like 1 page. Ebay is only a handful of listings.
  19. You can still get them. Just gotta email the right people.
  20. I don't think the Yen will improve that much. but you might save a few bucks
