  1. I always enjoy seeing new colors in my Lego sets. I remember how excited I was when I saw brown ship hulls in the Black Seas Barracuda set when I was a kid. So seeing something new excited me like the teal pieces in the nosecone of the X-Wing I built recently. I don't mind them when they are not an eyesore. That said I will probably buy 75050 and 75150 to flush out my collection. I don't know what to do with the green A-Wing yet but I like the Advanced Tie Fighter, even if it seems a bit small (just like the B-Wing) to me. However I wasn't able to find some in universe measurements to make sure to this is purely based on my recollection of the OT movies.
  2. I can give you all a downvote on every post I come across if you want to. The more I think about it maybe I should give every post I read a downvote just so spread them out evenly. That said I need to start my repair on the broken YF-19 head laser
  3. While building the newest Lego X-Wing I thought about all the brightly colored parts that come with this set. Red, teal, lime green. I'm mainly collecting Star Wars sets and I always liked the idea of having parts from other Lego sets incorporated into these builds because in my mind everything in the Star Wars universe is made out of trash or with recycled parts. So using "recycled parts" to build these vehicles seemed like a nifty head canon. I've been watching more Lego reviews recently and one of the hosts said these brightly colored parts are used as a visual guide to ease the build process for the end customer. While this makes some sense to me I always thought they where used as a cost cutting method for Lego. My idea is that, when you produce pieces that are seldomly used in most sets (like the teal and pink parts from the Creator Expert Dinner) you need to retool the shop floor less often when you can use these parts in other sets where they aren't visible on the first sight. So Lego could use the molds to their full capacity didn't have to change and clean the molds and used plastic that often and save money in the long run. Disclaimer: I don't know the intricacies of producing a Lego set it was just some thoughts I had to make sense of these off colored pieces in my sets besides the one I made up. What do you think is the reason to include such parts into the modern Lego sets since the ones I had as a kid never did that?
  4. So I ordered the Perisoreus Internigrans. I'm curious how it will turn out. Hopefully I can restrain myself and not buy more because otherwise I need to move to a bigger apartment.
  5. Yeah, these don't do it for me but thanks. I need ones that stand side by side with the recent Y-Wing/A-Wing/X-Wing models (the non UCS ones). I need some updated models. I like the ones Brick Vault did but I need to be able to buy them in a store everything else is too much work and/or will lead in an unhealthy Lego addiction. I think the B-Wing from 2014 would be a good addition but something is not right about that one. It is probably a bit too small for my needs. Will see what the future brings. I'm not in a hurry to finish that collection. Oh, and I would kill for a UCS Ebon Hawk!
  6. So I built the UCS Millenium Falcon over the Holidays. That was quite a fun experience but I it was too much Lego for me. I built it over the course of five days and after I finished it I was glad it was finished. The only other big "Minifig-scale" Star Wars sets I would need from Lego would be a UCS AT-AT and a new UCS Shuttle Tydirium with a better shaped cockpit and a light gray color. I also would love to see a Tie Interceptor, Tie Bomber and Darth Vaders Advanced Tie Fighter in the "Minifig-scale".
  7. Ordered Flame Toys Star Saber from D4Toys. Apparently they can send the item any way they want if you let them know in the order.
  8. It is a bit odd that their designs tend to be on the beefy end of the spectrum yet the Megatron is a slender fellow.
  9. Paying a sales tax is not that crazy when you think about it. You don't pay the local sales tax when importing toys so I think it is only reasonable to pay your local sales tax when buying from a different country. I also enjoy the benefit from taxes in my country so I have no issue paying those. Of course it is nice when an item slips through the net and you don't have to add a 20% increase on the already high price. First World problems I guess. I know that some states in the US have a very low sales tax or no tax at all but since they also have crazy tax laws this is neither here nor there and probably not a topic for this board. Back to Star Saber he looks stunning and I wonder why Flame Toys decided to post him with the guns firing from the hips like the Freedom/Strike Freedom Gundam. Maybe the wanted to show that they don't care about the critics. If this is the case I recommend them for it. From there recent reveals I was also excited about the jetpower Prime. We probably won't get a parts-forming SR-71 for the armor pieces but maybe they can make a cool looking Cybertron jet that takes heavy inspiration from the Blackbird. The silhouette for Rodimus looks fine but I don't feel the calf tires. Since he doesn't have to transform you could come up with a more subtle design like incorporate the wheels into the knee or something like that. No input on the model-kit side since I'm not interested in those. I like the Windblade design though so maybe they will do a toy for her based on this design in the Kuro Kara Kuri line. Looking at the Drift kit they seem to like transferring designs back and forth between the lines.
  10. Nice review about Sphinx Mike. I would like to add some personal thoughts to it since I do love Sphinx. Is he perfect? No but he was OX first release so I was able to overlook some of the flaws of the toy. I think he is a November 2015 release I believe so he is over three years old at this point and the transforming robots game has change since then especially the quality of official Masterpiece releases. At that time the Masterpiece line was up to MP Tracks and in retrospective some of the official MP figures aren't that good compared to Sphinx. Especially the MP cars with their light builds- limited articulation and shoddy paint Sphinx stood out as a release that had all the features I'd wished the officials had. Rubber wheels, die-cast bits, lots of paint. Regarding the other OX releases. My Backdraft had terrible QC with the red paint (even the replacement parts where terrible), he was missing the fire engine livery as paint applications and had some questionable design decisions (like the black painted details where you pegged the covers into the arms which lead to instant paint rub . So I would say he is inferior to Sphinx. Jaguar was good, Terraegis was floppy, hollow and had even less paint than Backdraft. The bird cassettes had terrible stickers, terrible transformation and sloppy paint while the Insecticons where so bad they had to be released under a different line and their Omne.. well better not speak of him (I do like him quite a bit but he is loaded with issues). Thankfully OX is getting better with their releases. So... I still love my Sphnix and I think he has aged well, other than MP Sideswipe which I have on my desk at work since the MP-12+ replaced him on my shelf.
  11. DHL Express is as bad as FedEx when dealing with customs, additional handling, fees etc. At least FedEx doesn't overestimate the value of the package when it comes to sales tax I have to pay. On the other hand FedEx handling fees are a percentage of the value of the package while DHL Express is a fixed fee when it comes to customs so.... ...I recognize that this is not a problem when living in the US but sometimes I need to vent about this.
  12. So the Flame Toys Star Saber preorder is live at D4 Toys. Sadly I can't order from them (even if I want the rifle) since they only offer FedEx shipping which will give me some issues with customs in my country and is significantly more expensive than other place. I will go with PSX for this one again. [edit:] Sent them an email asking if they would be willing to ship via EMS.. Oh, and an image of the bonus rifle:
  13. Nice review. Is the build quality comparable to the Metal Build line? You might have actually sold me on this one. :P
  14. More Nendoroid Kirby: https://hlj.com/nendoroid-beam-kirby-kirby-gsc90731 Which is always a good thing. Maybe they could do a King Dedede next for my Smash Brothers display pretty please.
  15. I want you for the Decepticon Justice Division:
  16. Oh boy oh boy, I hope the Kuro Kara Kuri preorders doesn't become the next Metal Build and DX Chogokin preorder madness. Do you know what the D4 toys exclusive will be for Star Saber? Speaking of Flame Toys they showed a few more pieces: http://news.tfw2005.com/2018/12/19/new-flame-toys-products-images-the-fallen-jetpower-optimus-prime-idw-rodimus-stealth-bomber-megatron-windblade-drift-g1-optimus-prime-379171 I feel like The Fallen is too much Tarn with the big arms, gigantic pauldrons and skinny legs. This is probably the first announcement of them that I'm on the fence about. I hope they will do some more re-shelling on him. Smaller, shorter arms would be a good place to start.
  17. Nothing but excellent buying experiences with Mandarake. Would buy again. Depending on where you live I wouldn't choose DHL Express shipping since in my country they will on their own collect the sales tax and custom fees. The also overestimate the value of the items in the package as well as adding a hefty handling fee. This is not an issue with Mandarake but it is the only time this happened to me when ordering from them (the other places I usually order form only offer EMS shipping). I'm not against paying my taxes but what DHL does is highway robbery.
  18. Alright alright, it looks like a Gundam.
  19. I hope they do a AY Black Cat next!
  20. Next Figma Overwatch release Pharah: https://hlj.com/figma-pharah-overwatch-gsc90693 I assume the next one will be probably McCree, Hanzo or Soldier 76.
  21. Hey Kuma are you getting the Shattered Glass Drift as well? I'm debating if I need that or not since I have the regular Drift. I like the added guns and prefer the red paint scheme. In other news Flame Toys is showing of the weapon gimmicks of Star Saber ( Love to see that. I like this on Drift as well and I feel like they could have implemented something similar in Tarns Guns (they are pretty looking hallow tubes). I know the melee weapons do something similar but I loved if you could extend the main guns and some panels or vents pop out. I recognize that I'm getting greedy.
  22. I second that since the helmet is blue.
  23. Well I guess I need to order a set. I don't want the VF-1J but if Bandai decides to do a DYRL? VF-1S Hikaru Custom I don't want to pay aftermarket prices for these missiles. I wonder if these will fit on the 1/60 DX Chogokin Valkyries.
